2 - Playing Games for Too Long After New Schedules Are Announced
The next day, all of us test subjects have to go a special room where we will be told how our schedules will change.
We all have to wait in a line and wait for our names to be called. I don't know about others, but personally I am scared. We all have to line up by number and I don't know anyone near me.
Eventually the person in front of me goes into the room that we all have to go into to find out our schedules. I haven't seen anyone come out of it, so I am even more scared.
"Number 9536," a man calls.
I cannot walk. I am too scared to walk. I know that I should, but my body will not move. I cannot bring myself to go into the room. Even though I know it is safe, I can't do it.
"Number 9536," the man calls again.
I have to do it! I have to!
I force myself to walk into the room. It takes a while and the man seems a little bit annoyed, but I do it.
When I walk into the room, a lady greets me.
"Hello 9536," she says.
"Hello," I reply.
"Now for your schedule," she says, handing me a piece of paper.
I scan the paper. I see that I will be spending more time in my room and more time in testing. I will not be having meals with everyone else.
"I will send that to you," she tells me, smiling.
I know she is talking about my plate on my arm, as there is nothing else that she could be talking about.
My plate is something that I wear on my arm that says my schedule and all.
"Where is the time for all of this?" I ask.
"Oh. The scientists will come and get you when it is time," she tells me.
"Oh," I reply.
"By the way, please use that door over there," she tells me, pointing to a door that I didn't notice before.
"Thanks," I reply.
I walk through the door to see more test subjects here. It seems to be all the test subjects that have already been in that room I was just in.
What, more waiting? I'm sick of waiting.
Eventually a man speaks, "Test subjects. As you know, you have all learned your new schedules. I would like to address some new rules. First off, there will be no more going into the library. Second of all, do not call others by their number. Everyone you may go to your rooms now."
We all walk back to our rooms. I don't really want to be in my room right now, but I guess I could think about what the man said.
I don't like that my friend and I will not be able to read in the library together. I had fun reading with her.
"9536 please come to testing," says a voice.
I enter the transporter in my room and click the button for testing. The transporter slowly gets faster and soon slowly gets slower, just like always.
A protector is outside of the door to testing, like always.
"What is your number?" asks the protector.
"9536," I answer.
The protector opens the door for me and I enter.
"9536, follow me," says the scientist who has greeted me for the past week.
I follow the scientist to a testing room. Each day the testing room I am in is different, so I don't know the number right away.
The scientist gives me a purple drink.
"Please drink this and then lie down! Oh first sit on the bed so it takes quicker for you to lie down," says the scientist.
I do as she says and fall asleep.
"Can you hear me?" the scientist asks.
"Yes," I reply.
"Stand up," says the scientist.
I open my eyes and stand up.
"Everything is good so far. She is opening her eyes at the right time," says female scientist talking to another scientist.
"Sit," says the scientist.
I sit on the bed.
"This is going really well, isn't it?" the male scientist says.
"Yes, it is," replies the female scientist.
"Get me a glass of water," she says.
I get up and turn on the water.
"I do not understand what to do next," I say.
"An error," the scientist says writing something down.
"What is an error?" I ask.
"Shit..." says the scientist.
"What is an error?" I ask again.
"The error is that you don't know how to get a glass of water," says the male scientist.
"Error: Talking unknown," I say.
"Don't mind what the error is, it has nothing to do with you," says the female scientist.
"That is good," I say.
"Stretch," says the scientist.
I stretch.
"Is that good? What is next?" I ask.
"We are good for today. You've gone a long way. Here drink this, lay down, and close your eyes," the scientist tells me handing me a purple drink.
After drinking the purple drink, I lay down and close my eyes.
"End Program," she says.
"We are done with testing. You have free time right now, I will bring you to the nearest teleporter," she tells me.
"Alright," I reply.
I follow the scientist down the familiar brightly lit white hallway. After taking a turn or two, we exit the testing area and arrive at the transporter.
"Here it is," she tells me.
"Thanks," I reply, getting into the transporter touching the button for the lounge.
When I reach the lounge, I notice that there isn't many people here. I look around for my friend, but I don't see her.
Since I don't know any of the test subjects who are in the lounge right now, I decide to sit in one of the chairs and wait. It is boring waiting in the chair, but the chair I am sitting in is very comfortable. I could probably fall asleep here if I wanted to. I don't want to though, as I am waiting for my friend.
I jolt awake to the sound of the speakers.
"All test subjects please report to your rooms for lunch. All test subjects please report to your rooms for lunch," the voice says.
Ugh. I fell asleep. Now I don't know if my friend was here at all!
I walk to down a hallway filled with rooms until I reach my own. I open the door and close it after I reach it.
On the table in my room, I see my lunch is already there. I sit down on the chair and start to eat.
While eating, I wonder if I will have to be tested on more today. I was told that I would have a lot of testing going on. I assume that means later today I will have to go for testing again.
After I finish eating, I go to leave the room but the door doesn't open.
I must have time in my room right now. I hope my friend has time in her room, too.
After what feels like hours of lying on my bed doing nothing, I hear the speakers.
"9536, please report to testing. 9536, please report to testing," the voice says.
I go over to the teleporter in my room which opens when I am near. The only time it works is while I have something to do and I am in my room.
After entering the touching testing, it slowly starts to get faster and soon slowly starts to get slower just like always.
A protector is outside the door to testing.
"What is your number?" he asks.
"9536," I say.
He opens the door and I enter.
"Follow me!" says the scientist waiting for me inside testing.
I follow her to the testing room I will be in.
She hands me a drink which I drink and then lie down.
I start to get sleepy.
"Please awake," says the scientist.
I stand up and open my eyes.
"Hello," says the scientist.
"Hello," I say back.
"Hi," says the scientist.
"Hi," I say back.
"I would like you to lie down on the floor," she says.
I go and lie down on the floor.
"Good, very good," she says.
"What is your favorite thing to do?" she asks.
"What is your favorite thing to do?" I ask.
"I like to drink water. What about you, what is your favorite thing to do?" she asks me.
"I like to drink water," I say.
"Would you like some water?" she asks me.
"Would you like some water?" I asks.
"Yes," she replies.
I open the cabinet and get out a glass. I then turn the sink on and fill the cup up.
"Here," I say, handing her the cup.
"Thank you," she replies.
"You're welcome," I say.
"Would you like water?" she asks.
"You already have water," I say.
She hands me the cup.
"Here is water," she says.
"That is your water," I say.
"I am giving it to you," she tells me.
"I can't accept this. Keep it yourself," I say.
"No, no. You take it," she says.
"I don't need this," I say.
"Please, take it," she tells me.
"I can't," I say.
"You're going to crash the system," says another scientist.
"What does it mean to crash the system?" I ask.
"Well..." he starts.
"It doesn't matter," says female scientist.
"I want to know," I say.
"It doesn't concern you," says the female scientist.
"I need to know," I say.
"You're going to crash the system, scientist 136!" says the male scientist.
"You said it again. What does it mean to crash the system?" I ask.
"We will have to fix this," mutters scientist 136.
"What do you mean "We will have to fix this"? Does it have to do with crashing the system?" I ask.
"Fine. There will be no harm in telling you, I guess. Crashing the system means to make something no longer work," she tells me.
"Thank you for answering me," I say.
"You're welcome," she replies.
"We are done for today. Here drink this. Lay down and then sleep," she tells me.
"End program," she says.
I drink the purple drink and then lay down. After I close my eyes and let myself fall asleep.
"We are done for today. I will bring you to the transporter," she tells me.
I follow her to the nearest transporter.
"You have free time right now," she tells me.
I go to the lounge, as I have free time.
I look for my friend, and I don't see her at first.
"There you are! I have been waiting all day!" she tells me.
"I was in testing," I say.
"I see. I had testing this morning. So you had testing in the afternoon?" she asks me.
"Actually, I had testing in the morning and afternoon," I say.
"Oh, I see," she says.
"Let's have a rematch now!" I say.
"Yeah! Sure!" she says excitedly.
We start the rematch.
"I will win for sure!" I say, putting down a blue card.
"How can you be so sure?" she says, putting down a blue card of her own.
"I have one card left," she says.
"Well," I say, putting down a green card that has the same number as the card put down, "I have one left too."
She is about to put down her last card when she says, "Wait what?! The color was changed?"
She picks up card after card until she finally gets a green card.
I put down my last card and then say, "I win."
"Wha... Wha... What?!" she says in surprise, with each word getting a little louder than the previous one.
"I won," I say.
"I demand a rematch! There's no way you could have won!" she almost yells.
We have another match and I win again.
"There's no way you could have won!" she says.
"I did win," I say.
"Rematch!" she yells.
"Don't be so loud. I'm fine with having a rematch," I say.
"Yay!" she says, a little quieter this time.
I go a little easy on her this time, but I win again.
"I win again," I say.
"Rematch! 50 more rematches!" she says excitedly.
At first I am winning, but after around the 7th match, she starts winning.
"You tired out? I was just going easy on you! You fell into my trap! Hehehe!" she says matches later.
"Let's stop here," I say.
"We still have 24 matches more to do. It's only the 26 match!" she says mischievously.
"How can you not be tired?" I ask.
"I've been going easy on you the entire time!" she says laughing.
"I thought you stopped going easy on me at around the 7th match...." I say.
"There's no way you could win! Not going as easy on you at the 7th match was part of my plan as well," she says.
"What about two days ago .... I won twice!" I exclaim as a rebuttal.
"That was part of my plan as well. The first time you won because I was getting used to the game and thinking of my plan. The last game when you won, I lost so we would have to have a rematch again another day," she says laughing mischievously.
"I guess I give up then..." I say.
"There's no giving up! We still have many matches left!" she raises her voice.
"Many? Isn't it just 26?" I ask tired.
"Let's see... we played 10 2 days ago... We've played 29 today... so that means we have 61 matches left!" she smirked.
"What? That many... I can't do another match! No more matches!" I plead.
"Fine," she says in her normal voice.
"What?" I reply.
"Let's continue this another day," she says.
"Thank you! I was so tired out that I couldn't continue!" I exclaim.
I really am getting sick of this game!
AN: You just read chapter 2, the chapter with the reaaaaalllllyyyy long title. I don't have much left of my summer break! D: I think school starts the last day of August for me. The last day of summer break is in August, I know that for sure.
....And I still have summer homework left.
The dreaded summer homework. The dreaded summer homework that I still have to finish.
Anyway, I was planning on finishing this chapter on Friday and posting it then, but today is the 12th. I was participating on a thread called word wars. I finished this chapter in the process.
Also, I want to get farther in to this story. This school year may be challenging. 2 of the classes I'm taking will probably be hard (one of them I'm not sure if I'm taking yet).
Oh! I just realized.... I have anime to watch! Bye... Expect the next chapter of Futuristic Utopia soon...
