5| Lion's Den

Shanaya Singhania

"Hey" I looked at him in disbelief as he sat on the chair right beside mine. There's already a chair across mine, why does he have to sit here?

I saw my friend smirking beside me and I gestured her my fist. She smirked and stood up. Don't tell me...

"Hmm guys, I have something important to look at. I better go now, have fun" she waved at us and walked away before I can even speak anything.

"Hey" he said.

"Hi!" Ok! This is awkward.

"How have you been? Long time" I smiled.

"Yes, I'm great. And I can see you're not that good" I said thinking about the way he and some men barged out of the room.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Why so? What made you think like that?"

"I saw you coming out of the room very frustrated" I pointed at the corner. He looked there and chuckled.

"That's nothing" he said and shook his head. I nodded. I don't want to be a creep knowing everything about him.

"So what pulled you here?"

"I am in my internship. Just tried my luck and it worked pretty well. So I'm here" I smiled.

"That's great" he smiled and rubbed his back head.

"Umm..." Someone cut us off.

"Sir, excuse me" I saw a man standing there wearing a black coat and a very panicked face.

"What?" Shayam snapped at him.

"Sir please consider the deal. Our boss is very panicked" he pleaded.

"Oh please! Come on! Be professional man! I'm not interested in the deal. Will you please leave me alone? Is this the way your boss gets deals around, either by threatening or backstabbing or pleading? I have lost all the respect I had for him" Shayam spoke loud enough to make the other guests watch the scene going on here.

"Sir, we are..."

"Mr. Shayam Mathur" I turned my head to the see the person who called him. It's none other than Armaan Sheikh himself.

I quickly stood up from my seat and looked at Shayam. He was standing there with a bored expression, rolling his eyes. What?

Armaan is the most feared person in the whole business world and no one wishes to be in his bad book. He'll do nothing but destroy you completely if you mess with him. You might be wondering how I know so much about business while I'm a designing student right? Well, my dad is a business man and I help him sometimes. I made some presentations, helped him in closing some deals and obviously this can't be done without knowing everything about business. But I never came out in public as the rich business man's daughter. I hate fame and try myself to avoid from media.

"You! How dare you?" Armaan was yelling at Shayam. I bet he did something very big to make him so much mad.

"Sir, this is a public place. So please" one of his men tried to calm him down but Armaan pushed him on the table resulting in the knife cutting his palm. I screamed looking at it.

Rushing over to the man who got hurt, I took out a handkerchief from my bag and wrapped it up. All the while I saw all eyes were on me. The manager came up and polietly asked the customers to leave.

I too decided to leave as it's not decent and more danger to be there in a situation like this. I hate violence and anger. It makes me feel very bad, I know it's crazy but that's how I am.

I was about to walk to the door when suddenly someone held my wrist. I turned to see Armaan holding my hand.

I released his grip from my hand and felt his disgusting look on my body. I quickly tightened my bag around me, clutching the end of my top tightly. His eyes roamed over my body, starting from head to toe. I bent down my head, unable to bear his gaze.

"Armaan" Shayam shouted at him. He turned to give him the coldest look of his and turned back to me.

"Who are you?" He asked. I remained silent, froze by the coldness in his tone.

"I asked who the hell are you?" He shouted and I flinched at it.

"Sha...Shayana" I stammered.

"Shayana who?" He asked, leaning on me. What the heck?!

I pushed him back and suddenly he held my nape. Too frightened, I dropped down my bag, trying to withdraw from his hold. All of a sudden, there was a hand which pulled him away from me and pushed him back. I sighed in relief.

It was Shayam. He was burning in rage with uneven breathe passing through his nostrils.

Coming over to me, he picked up the fallen bag.

"Are you ok?" He looked at my eyes, gently touching my fingers as he handed over the bag to me.

I nodded, not that I wanted to, but I couldn't talk anything.

"You bastard!" Armaan got up in full rage.

"You go, I'll take care" Shayam said, turning to the other side to face th cruel monster in the name of a person

"But ..." I held his elbow.

"Trust me" he pulled away and asked someone to drag me out.

"No, wait" I tried to run back to him but the men kept dragging me.

Shayam is in trouble just cause of me. I cannot let him face it alone. After all he was protecting me and that put him into the lion's den.

"Mam, you can go. We'll take care of our boss"

They ran back to the hotel, closing the doors behind.
