<Jaune p.o.v.>

I was listening in on my teammates.

"How come Jaune get's home so late" Nora asked.

"He's become rather scarce ever since he began fraternizing with Cardin" Ren said.

"That's weird. Doesn't he know we have a field trip tomorrow? We need out rest" Nora said as she stopped bouncing and landed flat on her bed.

"I'm sure our leader knows exactly what he's doing" Pyrrha said.

Ren and Nora looked at each other sadly.

"I guess so" Nora said.

I closed the door.

Dammit, I screw up big ti-

"Hey Jaune" A voice said, startling me.

It was Ruby.

"Long time no see. Did you lock yourself out again" She asked.

"Oh uh nope, heh got it" I said as I pulled out my scroll.

"So, where have you been lately" She asked.

"I uhh..." I said.

I tried coming up with something, hopefully something believable.

And nothing came out.

"I messed up. I did something I shouldn't have and now Cardin's got me on a leash and Pyrrha won't even talk to me and I may have ruined Y/n's future and...I'm starting to think coming to this school was a bad idea" I said, sliding down onto the floor.

Ruby remained silent.

"I'm a failure..." I said.

"Nope" Ruby said.

I was confused, I turned to her.

"Nope" I inquired.

"Nope. You're a leader now Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure" Ruby said.

"But what if I'm a failure at being a leader" I asked.

"Mmm...nope" She said.

I let out a small laugh.

"You know you're not the easiest person to talk to about this kind of stuff" I said.

"Nope, we have Y/n for that" She said.

Oh...him.

"I don't think that's possible anymore. The last time we talked we didn't hit it off so well....I said some mean things to him, and I think he's been avoiding me" I said.

"Oh, so you're the reason he asked so many strange questions" Ruby said.

"Strange questions" I asked.

"Yeah, he asked us some strange questions" Ruby said.

<Flashback in Ruby p.o.v.>

My team and I were getting ready for bed.

Y/n stumbled through the door.

"Y/N YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOCK, WHAT IF WE WERE GETTING CHANGED" Weiss said.

"I scanned the room before I entered" He said.

"W-WE TOLD YOU NOT TO DO THAT" I said.

"I'm sorry" He said.

He sat down in his corner.

"Stupid machine" Weiss mumbled.

"You're the second person to say that to me tonight" Y/n said.

Weiss froze, he heard her.

"Second person" I asked.

"Yeah, Jaune called me that earlier. Pyrrha and I volunteered to help him get better with his studies and combat but he revealed some stuff and he rejected the offer. I tried to talk to him but he called me a 'stupid machine', and so I left him on his own" He said.

He then turned to us.

"I was going to ask you if I am a 'stupid machine' but it appears as though I have my answer" He said.

Poor thing.

"Ignore her Y/n, you're not a stupid machine you're just...unique. You're new to this world and you need time to get adjusted to it, you'll get better at this sort of stuff" I said hugging him.

He chuckled.

"Hey Ruby...he did say one other thing" Y/n said.

I looked him in the eyes, he looked sad.

"Am I a person" He asked.

We all looked at each other.

"Y/n...you may not be human or a Faunus. But know this, you are a person. So what if you're not made of meat and stuff, you're still a person" He said.

He looked surprised.

"If I had the ability to cry I would" He said with a smile.

"Oh don't cry" I said playfully.

I then felt a weird ripple.

His body started turning into...me?

He started giggling, sure his voice sounded like it was glitching from my voice to his but he seemed happy nonetheless.

"You see, you have emotions, you are a real person" I said happily.

His body turned back to normal.

"Sorry, it seems I couldn't handle new emotions" He said with a smile.

"I didn't know you could shape shift" I said.

He turned into Yang.

"You doubted your big sister" He asked in Yang's voice.

Yang laughed.

He then shifted into Goodwitch.

"Students, laughing is not allowed in the dorms" He said in Glynda's voice.

Yang and I laughed.

"Oh oh do Weiss" Yang said.

He shifted into Weiss.

"RUBY ROSE. YOU ARE SUCH A COMPLETE DOLT. I AM CLEARLY THE BETTER HUNTRESS" He said in Weiss' voice.

We laughed more, Blake laughed too.

Weiss seemed embarrassed.

"I don't sound like that" Weiss said.

We all had some fun with his shapeshifting abilities.

(Not in that sort of way...but I like the thought too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

<Reality in Jaune p.o.v.>

"Yeah, and as of recent he's been trying to increase his knowledge to no longer be a 'stupid machine, he's even been making everyone friendship bracelets, don't tell anyone but it was my idea. Bracelets are super cool" I said.

I was surprised.

He was trying to change what I said about him.

"Jaune maybe you were a failure when you were a kid.." Ruby said.

It made me feel depressed.

"And you might've even been a failure the first day we met..." She said.

I felt more depressed.

"But you can't be one now. You know why" She asked.

"Uhh because-" I tried answering.

"Because it's not just about you anymore. You've got a team now Jaune. We both do...although I also have Y/n to look out for but that's not the point. If we fail then we'll just be bringing them down with us. We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second" Ruby said.

She stood up.

"Your team deserves a great leader Jaune. And I think that can be you, and Y/n think so too" Ruby said.

She headed to her dorm.

"Have a good night Jaune" Ruby said as she closed her door.

I was about to enter my dorm when my scroll rang.

It was from Cardin...oh.

"Hey! It's your buddy Cardin. I know you're probably busy with that dust project I gave you, buuut I'm gonna need you to go out and get me a bag of rapier wasps" Cardin said.

I was surprised...Rapier Wasps?

"And make sure they've got some reaaally big stingers. It's important so don't screw this up" He said.

Once I hung up I sighed.

"You need help getting some Wasps" A voice asked.

It was Y/n.

"Y-Y/n...I-" I said.

"Do you want some help with this or not" He asked.

He's still willing to help me...after all I said to him?

"O-Ok...sure" I said.

We both left to get some Wasps.

It was easy considering Y/n scanned for some nearby Wasps, and because he can't feel pain he collected them for me.

He placed them in a safe bag for me.

Once we finished he gave the bag to me so I could deliver it.

He also gave me one of his friendship bracelets.

I didn't get the chance to say sorry.

<Timeskip in Blake p.o.v.>

We were out on a field trip to Forever Fall, a luscious red forest.

Glynda was escorting us.

"Yes Students, the Forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful, but we are not here to sight see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this Forest. And I'm here to make sure that none of you die while doing so" Goodwitch said.

Jaune accidentally bumped into Cardin as he was holding a ton of stuff.

"Each of you is to gather one jars' worth of red sap.However this Forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay with your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4:00. Have fun" Goodwitch said.

Before Jaune could go with his teammates Cardin pulled him with his team.

As we were walking through the forest looking for a good spot I heard a noise with my 'special hearing'.

It sounded like clicking.

I looked around and tried to find the source.

All I could see was...a shimmer?

It was as if you were looking through clear water, or seeing the heat on a hot day.

"Hey Blake you ok" Y/n said.

I turned to him then back to the shimmer.

It was gone.

"Don't worry, I thought I saw something" I said.

<Jaune p.o.v.>

I had just collected a ton of sap.

Once I made it back to Team CRDL I dropped to the floor.

"Hey, great work Jauney boy. Now that wasn't too hard, was it" Cardin asked.

"I think I'm allergic this stuff" I said with a sniffle.

"Great great great. So Jaune, I bet you're asking yourself "Why did my buddy Cardin ask me to collect six jars of tree sap when there's only five of us"Cardin said.

"That is one of the many questions that I have asked myself today, yes" I said.

I sat back up.

"Well come with me and you'll find out" Cardin said.

I gulped, what he had planned I didn't know...but I bet I'm about to find out.

Cardin and his team led us to a hill.

Everyone was filling up their jars.

Ren even extracted some sap but Nora ate it as he tried getting another jar full.

I noticed Y/n was nowhere to be found.

"Cardin, what's going on" I asked.

"Payback" He said.

I noticed he was glaring at Pyrrha.

"What are you-" I asked.

"That's the girl. Red-haired know-it-all thinks she's so smart" Cardin said.

He pulled out a box of....oh no.

The box with the Rapier Wasps in them.

"Alright boys. Last night ol' Jaune here managed to round up an entire box of Rapier Wasps. And now we're going to put them to work" Cardin said.

I laughed nervously.

"Now according to one of the essays he wrote for me last week these nasty things loove sweets. I'm thinking it's time we teach her a thing or two" Cardin said.

He helped me up.

"And you're gonna do it" Jaune said handing me the extra jar of sap.

"Do what" I asked.

"Hit her with the sap! Either that, or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon. Oh and you're friend Y/n, I'll tell the world he's a machine, if people hate the Faunus, imagine how they're going to react to something that isn't even alive" Cardin said.

I looked at the jar of sap.

"Jaune, don't do it" A voice said.

We turned and saw...Y/n!

He held his plasma rifles at us.

"Don't do it Jaune. You're better than this, you're better than him. Ignore him, so what if I get harassed, so what is you get expelled. If you do this it will scar you, it will scar Pyrrha" Y/n said.

He stepped closer, only to be stopped by the rest of Cardin's team.

"Jaune, you told Pyrrha that you wanted to be a hero, now is your chance to be the hero. By throwing that sap you will have gone against all you said to your teammate..to your friend" He said.

I turned to Pyrrha and I raised the jar into the air.

I-I can't throw it.

No...I WON'T!!!

"No" I said.

"What did you say" Cardin asked.

"I said...NO" I said.

I threw the jar at Cardin.

"Oh ho ho, you've done it now" He said.
