Part 1
" It's the time for him to pay the debt of her" -Tej
Omkara Singh Oberoi
It was a usual day when I was living my usual self; as a normal guy. With my friends in our weekend resort in Goa; I was enjoying my summer as I did everytime. Well if looked at, I am Omkara Singh Oberoi; the only heir of the multi- million dollar 'Oberoi Empire' and right now the to-be CEO. There was nothing in this whole wide world that I can't get. And no one says no to me. Why would anyone when they know what a 'no' could bring them.
Last night when I received a call from dad, asking me to return as soon as possible, I knew it one of his ways to bring me back to home and again let me complete those boring projects and usual assignments. But I turned him down because I have just made the company pass another million dollar project and since I loved it, it was the time to party
But then here I am; sitting on the sofa in front of my parents, listing them talking about some girl, whose name as usual I am unaware of, about my wedding and how would they arrange it. Mark my words, I am least interested into it which makes me take out my cell and play 'candy crush' as I do not even want to open the net connection and look at my friends enjoying and me sitting at the wedding discussing about a stupid wedding, which eventually is for me to turn responsible according to dad. Note the sarcasm.
Asking him about anything is just banging wooden stick on a bucket of water, which would only make him spill out his anger on me. So the last option left was mom who was sitting next to dad; listening to him with deep concern not even noticing my pleading glares to her. I huffed in disappointment as because I know that it is impossible for me now to escape this. Suddenly dad shifted his gaze from the laptop screen, which directly landed on me and I knew that I WAS GONE.
"She is your to- be wife" he handed me an envelope. I glanced at him with a confused expression "wife?" was what came out. "Yes, my dear son, wife" okay, there is something serious right now; I am his MY DEAR SON. "But dad, I... I don't want to get married. I am leading my life very well" he again glanced at me and then back to his laptop. "Well, son, you see, I am not getting any younger. Besides, this family and the empire need its future" I again looked at him; confused. "Look Om, every mom and dad want their kids to live a peaceful life; and we want that for you too son" he kept his hand on my shoulder. "I want you to have a safe and secure future. I want you to live a happy life with the love of your life; which definitely is not Riddima" I looked at him again, but this time with an eyebrow rise.
"Mark my words Om, Riddhima is not for you. In fact she is not for anyone" to be honest, I knew what he was going to say. "She is cheating on you since you both started" my face had normal expressions. "You knew it, didn't you?" and what would you say if you get caught??? Best option is to just confess it "I know it". "And still you are with her? I mean are you okay? Or are you crazy?" mom shouted while dad held her back. And right now is the time when
I know how adamant my dad was to get me married, because he didn't even say a word regarding Riddhima. Hell, he didn't even react "so the marriage is already fixed right?" I knew the answer already. "I think you know it" in simple words, it was a yes. "But dad, you should have told me. I mean I am not a arranged marriage person" right now all I was doing was saving myself from this so called wedding. "My dear son" and here comes the danger again, I sighed. "It is fixed, and you are getting married this week, no matter what. And I don't take no for an answer" and he left. He just left me, in the middle of the hall, sighing.

"You should have told him the reality, Tej. He deserves to at least know who and what his wife is" my wife placed a hand on my shoulder. "I know I should have. I know I should have talked about it in an easier way. But Jhanvi, you know how he is right? And believe me" I held her hands in mine "she is the best girl for my son. I know he deserves to know it. But then, I want him to fall in love and experience it as I did with you by my side. I want him to have someone as important as you are to me. And she is the best choice for my son" I looked at my wife. "But she... she is..." I knew what that was. "I know... but believe me... I want it to be love first... not any sort of pity on her. And I know that she will be capable of making him fall in love with her" Jhanvi blinked her eyes making me know that she understands me, and I smiled.
Gauri Kumari Sharma.
I looked over the other two ladies in my studio talking about weird stuff, telling each other about how much their husbands have spend on them to make them happy, or should I say satisfied. Frankly, I don't even want to listen to them as because it was already past half an hour to close the store for today. And also, it was already late for me to each to the orphanage with the gifts for Divya. I sighed. It is Divya's birthday tomorrow and I made sure that I would celebrate it. Divya, I smiled at her name, she is a little 7- year old kid in the orphanage I stayed for the 18 years of my life. She entered the day I was about to leave. I don't know why, but I felt looking at myself when I saw her entering. So, I decided to take care of her, though my salary didn't gave me that much, but I was able to cover her fees, other essential commodities and my hospital bills.
Yes, hospital bills. They are quite huge. Though even after trying for past three years, I did not get anything but a assurance that I will be fine from the doctor; I thought taking it on would be better. And since, my education and the rest was dependent on my benefactor, who I still don't know anything about why was he doing that, I got a lot of help from him. But I denied it after getting a job here, which he certainly agreed to. The only reason I am taking these sessions is that even if there are less chances, I will like to walk, to run, to dance, to jump and leave this arm crunch forever. Just for once, I would love to play with the kids in the orphanage as everyone else does. I sighed and stood up, closing the store, I walked off.
"Good evening Ma'am" I wished the manager as she replied with a small smile. "Divya is still waiting for you" I smiled at it. "Don't tell her that I am already here. It's just an hour left" I pointed towards the wall clock. She nodded and walked inside, where I know the little girl must be waiting for me. But I decided to held back before the party.
"Happy birthday, Princess" she watched me with her wide eyes and suddenly hugged me tightly. It was her way to thank me, be she is just like us, with a defect, she cannot speak. I came down stretching my legs as much as I can. I can sit on my knees, that was only thing I can do with my legs. "Happy Birthday" I wiped her tears off and gave her her favorite barbie doll as she smiled. "Let's get to your friends and enjoy" she nodded making me smile. We together cut the cake as she left playing with her friends, when I saw manager ma'am approaching me.
"Gauri, there is something, I would like to talk to you about" my attention shifted to her words. "There is a marriage proposal for you" I looked at her with my wide eyes. You can expect me to get shocked. Who on this earth would like to marry a girl who cannot walk? And that too, me?? "It's Mr Tej Singh Oberoi.." I cut her "you can't expect me to marry a 60 year old man" I saw manager ma'am looking at me, shocked. "Girl, develop a habit of listening to the whole thing at first" I nodded. "It's Mr Tej Singh Oberoi's son" I looked at her again, shocked. "My benefactor wants me to marry his son?" I asked her and she nodded. "Why?" was what I really wanted to know. "Because he thinks that you are perfect for him" well that was hilarious, me and perfect, never. "I am not, I have a defect" I answered her. "This" she pointed towards my legs "is just physical. You have a golden heart and we all know that" I sighed. "You don't believe me?" she took me to the place where Divya and other kids were playing. " Loom at her. How happy she is. It's only you who could do this, Gauri" she turned to me "you are just perfect for anyone" she said.
I opened the envelope to find about the groom. And I was happily surprised, the man was well built, must be almost six inches straight. His eyes had the perfect pride that a man should have, his posture was just perfect, but the best part was his long hairs guiding down to his shoulders slightly brushing it. I was shocked that this man was ready to marry me, and he knew everything about me, because that was what Mr Tej a Singh Oberoi told me after our little conversation yesterday.

I opened the packet, the one that dad gave me. The picture inside had a beautiful girl, smiling wide with her shining hazel eyes and as if she was happy, in fact very happy. Her hairs cascaded down towards her waist. But that was just only what I could see. Because the picture had her only till her slender waist. She was just gorgeous.

"But Tej still, he deserves to know that the girl is handicapped" said my wife for the third time today. "You know the reason Jhanvi. I don't want him to marry her, because he was the reason. That because of his mistake she is suffering this. That because he wanted to drive before training he crashed his car down to her. That it was his mistake when he was 16" I huffed. "I know it all Tej. But ...." I cut her "she didn't even lodged a complaint Janvi" I held her hands in mine "and believe me, she is just perfect for him. I know her since she was fifteen. I have seen her growing up and becoming responsible" she sighed. "He has to take care of her Jhanvi. It's the time for him to pay the debt of her" I completed, knowing my son's future is safe.
