Rosey Cheeks
Like my new profile background? This one is 1000 words and Christmas is sparsely mentioned because I wanted to focus more on what the Doctor might be thinking. Happy Holidays!
Third Person POV
The Doctor paced around the console room, going round and round. He wore his best suit, which was just a slightly different brown, a pale blue dress shirt, his dark brown and blue tie, along with clean red converse. His hair was a tidier sticky-uppy, though with his nervous habit it was slowly reverting back to its usual messy state. Nervousness was biting at him constantly.
It was at times like this he wished he had the confidence Jack did when it came to the ladies. Then again, Jack didn't like anyone to an emotional level, he had flings. Speaking of ladies, the two Tyler women were in another room. Much to the Doctor's dismay, Rose had wanted to bring her mum with them to the Christmas ball in 1936 Venice, France. Of course he already had a plan to distract Jackie for a while, while he spoke with Rose about some very pressing matters. He knew Jackie was on to him, questioning him on every
visit, at every turn, every chance she got. It bothered him a bit ... okay, it bothered him a lot, but there was really nothing he could do. If he asked Jackie to stop, Jackie would surely let something spill out to Rose. And if he told Rose about it, she would want to know what Jackie was questioning so adamantly about. Stopping Jackie was just a no-go. So, he's been putting up with her questioning for a while now which includes: twenty-nine visits, thirty-six phone calls, eighteen pull-asides, and forty-six texts. The only thing Rose
has ever done wrong was leaving her phone where her mother could get to it. See, Jackie Tyler had decided to go through it to get his number only to continue her questioning when they weren't there. In other words, it was like he had already married Rose, and Jackie was just being a nosey mother-in-law. He blushed thinking of Rose and himself being married, though he knew that couldn't happen. Telling her his feelings tonight was going far enough. He just had to get it off of his chest, it was weighing on him, dragging like a
ball and chain. He hated when other men would stare at her, flirt with her, or even speak to her. It was a problem he was working on. He knew it was jealousy, he knew it, but no matter what happens, that is something he will never admit, not to Jackie, not to Rose, not to the TARDIS, not to anyone but himself. Though he wouldn't exactly need to tell the sentient spectator, it was clear for her to see. Jackie had noticed it once or twice when Mickey was around, which only egged on her persistent questioning. The sound
of footsteps put the Doctor's pacing to a stop. He was afraid to look up, afraid of the beauty that is Rose Tyler, in a dress no less. His hearts jumped to his throat as his eyes finally dragged up her body, not even giving a passing glance to the older Tyler. She was in a beautiful blue dress with inch-high heels to match, small diamond earrings and coupling necklace. His lungs suddenly had no air, feet had no stable ground, arms weak at his sides, hearts pounding to an unknown fast paced song, cheeks rosey pink. Words found
no exit, no way to express the beauty that held its place in front of him. They pounded at the sides of his mouth, demanding to be let out, but to no avail. He stumbled back a little, losing focus, he let the words fly out to land in her ears. "You look beautiful Rose." Rose's eyes widened slightly, the last time he called her beautiful they were visiting London, December 24, 1869. Though he did say she was beautiful "for a human", that didn't stop her from keeping the words with her. Her cheeks colored as she smiled. Their
moment was cut off by Jackie clearing her throat. Their eyes shot to her, cheeks coloring further as they noticed they had been staring at each other for a while now. "So, what about me?" The Doctor fought hard not to choke as he said, "Beautiful." He threw a half fake smile at Jackie before moving to loop his arm around Rose's. Jackie was wearing a simpler dress, a darker blue, and made a point of being the lead out the door. He held Rose at a safe distance as they exited behind Jackie to the ball. They fit in
like stripes on a tiger. No one gave them a second glance. The Doctor knew Jackie was freaking out on the inside, her hands were subtly clenching at her sides, while her eyes tried not to stay on one thing for too long. He chuckled and Rose looked up at him, "What's so funny?" He just shook his head, deciding that it might sound bad if he pointed out Jackie's state. She shrugged it off and held him closer as the crowd in front of them grew larger. A few hours passed and the clock had started to count down
the last minutes till Christmas. He knew it was about time to tell her, time to set his feelings free. He pulled her to the side, to a quieter area, and pushed her slightly against the wall. "Doctor?" His breathing had sped up to surpass her rapid breathing, "Rose." His whisper sent shivers down her spine and flared the feeling of his hands on her bare arms. "Yes, Doctor?" "My hearts can no longer bare to be hidden from you. The constant pounding when you are near, hurts knowing you can't hear it." So poetic. "I ... love you too, Doctor."
