EPILOGUE

(A/N: I'm purging my sin of not uploading on time by giving y'all this. Anyways, we're wrapping things up so, long chapter ahead. Beware.

lucifer_is_my_bitch Deets, just like you asked. But not the exact scenario though)

10 years later

"Did it hurt?"

"Huh?" I lift my head from the SUPERNATURAL memes on my phone and look at the guy who sits on a chair beside me.

Isn't he the one who kept winking at you earlier?

"When you fell from the heaven?" What's-his-name says with a flirtatious smile.

"Uh...why don't you ask Castiel?" I deadpan uninterestedly.

"Oh, but you're the one who looks angelic to my eyes."

Sure, I had started working out more regularly after tenth grade but seriously, does he have to be this cringeworthy?

I still wear my EDITH glasses for fuck's sake!

I slide lower on my chair, huffing in annoyance but still put on a fake smile before replying, "I wish I could say the same though."

I check him out and boy was my statement wrong. His shirt cling on to his defined muscles and a few strands of his hair fall on his face—the whole 'dégagé' look—that bears a smile which practically screams 'come to daddy'.

A laugh escapes my mouth at that thought and I can't help but compare how this guy is basically nothing, when compared to Jensen Ackles.

"Dude, could you be more cliché?" I blurt out and slap my hands over my no-filter mouth.

"But you love it." He says lowly.

"Mmhmm." I hum distractedly as another meme pops on my phone screen and an involuntary smile comes on my face as I read it.

"So, what is your name?" He changes the topic.

"'What' is definitely not my name." I snort.

"That...was a nice one. Hahaha." He fake-laughs as if wanting to prove that he enjoyed the joke.

"Uh-huh." I hum again and shift from SUPERNATURAL memes to Jensen Ackles pictures.

Fucking hell, he's hot—

"Do you wanna—"

Ugh shut your cakehole boy!

"I'm gonna get some ice cream." I interrupt whatever he was gonna say and escape to get some ice cream and ogle at Jensen Ackles's pictures freely.

"Here." Someone hands me a cup of ice cream and I immediately shove a spoonful, moaning a little as the flavor soaks my tongue.

"Thank you." I say gratefully and raise my head to see who it was only to internally groan in annoyance.

"I know a few ways in which you can thank me." He wiggles his brow with hooded eyes.

Fuck.

That's exactly what he's insinuating.

Not you too.

"Y'know, I was there with Ajay and couple of other boys in the concert to which you came years back in our school..." He looks at me hopefully.

And he doesn't know your name?

Exactly! Assbutt.

Don't get me wrong, not all of Ajay's friends are dickwads. Some of the 'other boys' he mentioned had actually been brotherly to me instead of this jackass here.

I simply shrug and as he continues to talk, I shove a little more ice cream in my mouth whenever he asks me questions to show that my mouth was too busy to answer him.

"Do you wanna grab a coffee or something later this week—"

"Waaaaaaaaaaah!" I hear from afar.

"Oh my god, Oh my god, OH MY GOD!" Mia panic-walks to me as the few-months-old baby in her hands wails, an amused Shaina in tow.

I coo at the baby before taking her into my hands and just as she comes back to me from Mia, she stops wailing and starts laughing hysterically.

"Whew, I'm sorry. I swear I did nothing..."

"It's okay, calm down. Babies do that. Actually you've improved; Nisha stayed in your hands for more than 90 seconds. Congrats!" I console Mia while bouncing the baby on my hip.

"That yours?" The can't-notice-the-obvious guy asks me.

"Yes." I answer and Mia discreetly whispers in my ears, "He flirting with you?"

I nod and Mia smooches my cheeks making me giggle.

Shaina joins in too, kissing Mia's cheeks.

"You're together?" He asks to which Mia, Shaina and I nod and go all lovey-dovey over each other.

"Um...who's with whom?" He looks confused.

"Oh! We like to share." Shaina exclaims as I add, "Yeah, we just love each other that much."

Shocker? Okay so, let me rewind to 6 years back when I was taking my bachelor degree in physics—another shocker, I know.

"That's one nice ass." Mia had whispered, her gaze fixed on the hot guy who had just walked past us after offering us a smile.

I whistled lowly in agreement and turned to see that she was wiggling her brows at me.

"No, Mia. You're perverted. I'm perverted. We just look at boys. I don't wanna get into a relationship and all. No flings or rogue stuffs either, just eye candies. I can't afford any distractions for now." I dismissed her and shoo her off to her classes which were different that mine since she had chosen another course.

"No rogue stuff?" She eyed my collarbone tattoo skeptically.

"Ugh, I just got the SUPERNATURAL anti-possession sigil!"

"Whatever, but, why don't you put yourself out there? I mean, I will, but I'm very much happy with eye-candies, thank you." she insisted.

"No Mia—"

"Vicky!"

I turned my head towards the new voice and saw a more mature yet fragile version of DQ standing with a suitcase in her hand.

All the past anger resurfaced but I clench my jaw and calm myself.

But before I could snap at her, she walked to me and tears started forming in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry Vicky. I was mentally abused by my parents that I thought maybe tarnishing you by taking what you loved away from you would finally make my parents see me for who I am, but all they ever kept doing was discriminating me.

"I should've listened to you, I should've taken professional help but I was far too deep in it to get it into my thick skull. I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." She repeated.

"Shaina, what're you—"

"I deserve to be hated but please, I know I've made a mistake. I've run away from my parents once I turned eighteen—oh my god! Please don't tell them I'm here now, please..." Fresh tears spilled on her cheeks.

I grabbed her before wiping her eyes and offered her a tissue which she gratefully accepted.

"What made you change your mind now?" I asked DQ suspiciously, noticing an oddly quiet Mia.

"Don't be mad, but Mia was the one who helped me, after you left our school she...she made me spill the beans and understand how...how cruel I had been. How I had behaved like my parents." she spit out the words with venom that I was sure she'd burn her parents with laser-eyes if at all they came here now.

"Maybe...I can forgive you, but I'm not sure it can be forgotten. You've done too much damage." I whispered truthfully.

"I know, I'm sorry. I've actually been visiting shrinks and well, I must admit, I feel better and I hope you can give me a chance. To mend things between us..." She trailed away, unsure.

Taking a deep breath, I looked at the now guilty-of-her-past girl, thinking how grateful I'd be if I was given a chance to mend things between my ex-bestie whom I had hurt a lot just because of a stupid manipulation.

I saw a girl who was probably similar to me in many ways than we thought we were.

And then I decided.

"Yes."

After that, Shaina and I had started hanging out occasionally and sometimes Mia would also join in and we had become close, just like old times in school except for the fact that now, Shaina truly cares about me.

Looks like she had told Mia about how she made me...well...y'know and she herself came clean to everyone that she made me do all of it.

She even confessed something that I had totally not expected—after legally getting all her inheritance after her 18th birthday, my loan had been handed over to her and it's from her that I've been receiving the loan all along.

Explains how the interest rate had drastically dropped.

Shaina had become the school counselor in the same school where I'm a ninth and tenth grade physics teacher—boo fucking hoo—and now, we're even co-workers.

Back to present, the guy's eyes almost pop out of his sockets and he clears his throat awkwardly before red blotches appear on his cheeks and he excuses himself from the two of us.

"That ménage à trois crap worked..." Mia sighs in relief.

"Gosh, he won't let me look at Jensen Ackles without pestering me in between!" I complain.

Various relatives and friends greet me as they go to congratulate the newlywed couple—Ajay and Rita—currently standing on a slightly raised podium in the party hall of their Reception ceremony.

The baby in my hands lightly pulls the earring I've worn, earning a wince from me.

"Nope, that's off-limits today baby." I remark as I pull Nisha's tiny hands from my earrings to which she slaps her hands together and smiles.

I turn to look at the happy couple and notice the grand clock behind them, only to see that it was time to feed Nisha.

Where's the baby bottle though?

I make my way to Ajay with a gurgling Nisha on my hips, so that I could ask him if he remembers where Nisha's baby bottle was kept.

"Hey, do you remember where—"

"I thought you might wanna meet someone." Ajay interrupts abruptly with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Who?" I ask and pull away slightly from Nisha's hands which had now found my messy shoulder-length bob's strands more interesting.

And you thought cutting your hair would come in handy in your future?

At least this is easy to comb! More like almost no combing at all!

As if pulling away has fueled her, Nisha grabs the electric-blue tips of my hair making me laugh and pull away gently while cooing at the baby to let go of my hair.

From the corner of my eyes, I see someone snapping their head towards me just as I started laughing, but I pay no mind to it and try to pry Nisha's fingers from my hair.

"Mmuhmmaawww!" Nisha giggles.

"You little minx." I pinch the nose of the giggling baby which was similar to mine, before shaking my head slightly to get my hair away from my eyes.

Suddenly a hand comes and brushes my hair from my eyes and I mutter a quiet 'thanks' as I blink my eyes a few times before they lock with a beautiful, familiar pair of eyes.

My breath hitches and I blink repeatedly—slowly and rapidly—making sure that I'm not hallucinating.

I turn to Ajay in disbelief, who just looks at both of us before giving me a nod with a warm smile and then I remember the day Ajay had asked me if he could take the liberty of inviting my friends.

"Su...re..." I had said distractedly, observing the newborn baby sucking milk form the teat of the baby bottle.

He had hummed in reply and now, I understand what his hum had meant then.

"Hi, it's been long! How are you Ritu—I mean, Vic—uhm, Rithvika? I don't know if you remember me but, uh...I'm Nikki— I mean, Nikhil, from, y'know, eighth, ninth and um...tenth grade?" Nikhil stumbles on his words.

Is he really serious about the 'I don't know if you remember me' part?

All these years, I've buried my feelings for him deep down where no one can reopen old wounds and moved on.

Or so I thought before a certain boy about whom I've refused to talk suddenly comes and stands in front of me asking the silly question about whether or not I remember him now.

I chuckle nervously before offering, "I'm fine and you can call me Ritu. On one condition though, you have to let me call you Nikki."

Please say yes, please say yes.

"I've always been your Nikki, Ritu..." He stops himself from blurting out more, rubbing his neck sheepishly.

We both fall into an awkward silence, observing each other's changes over the past ten years.

He surely has become taller and looks just as handsome as he was with a hint of childishness that made him my Nikki, my best friend and boyfriend. Or more like ex, and not mine.

Nisha suddenly starts to wail and I remember the reason why I had come to meet Ajay in the first place.

But when I walk towards Ajay, my mom comes towards us from where she had been talking with...Nikhil's parents? Huh. Looks like it was only me who didn't know that they were invited.

"Let me take her." My mom says as she extends her hands, taking Nisha from my hold.

"Come to grandma, come to grandma." She takes Nisha away, leaving Nikhil and I to stand there uncomfortably.

"She's got your nose." Nikhil comments out of nowhere.

"Yeah, I get that a lot." I smile.

"So who's uh...who's the father? Y'know, your husband? Boyfriend?" He asks nervously.

I smile and walk to a nearby seat.

Nikhil takes a seat beside me, waiting patiently for me to answer.

"You thought she was my daughter?"

"Um...yeah, I mean she has your nose—"

"Oh Nikki, Nikki, Nikki. She's Ajay and Rita's kid and she's too fond of me—even more than her parents at times—but I'm not her mother. But yeah, she got that unique li'l nose from me. Also, she helps me to get away from some stupid flirting dickwads." I explain, whispering the last part to myself before chuckling.

"Oh..." He sighs lightly, his cheeks ever-so-lightly reddening.

Without thinking what I was doing, I reach over and kiss his cheek, only for him to turn at the last second, our lips meeting as a result.

I immediately pull away, embarrassed about my action.

He just stares at me, eyes roaming around my face with his smile still intact and I start fidgeting my hair, feeling self-conscious.

"You look so...so mature, grown up and even more beautiful—If that's even possible—have you been working out?" He muses.

I nod and reply, "You look handsome too."

I avoid his eyes, suddenly becoming the shy-self I was in 8th grade before I met him.

Oh god, save me.

Suddenly, someone taps on my shoulder.

God?

"Hey, I just wanted to say that we need more water. The ones that you gave are over." Ayan—not god—tells me. He's a classmate of mine from my college days and I had set him and his musical band up for today's party.

"Oh, yeah, yeah. I'll get a separate crate for you guys. Just let me get it." I get up when suddenly, Shaina comes, telling me to chill and that she'd take over.

"Thanks Shaina! All the best for you guys!" I direct the last part to the Ayan who smiles and walks away but I notice the wink he gives Shaina.

Huh. Go figure.

Sitting down I see Nikhil staring between me and Shaina's retreating back.

"Yeah, it's a long story." I say, knowing that he's probably confused as to why I'm good friends with Shaina now.

"I know, she spoke to me." Nikhil starts after a beat, "and she also told me why you had..."

"Sh— she did?" I ask, surprised.

"Yes and she also told me how she regretted letting you go during school days—"

"Ah, she said that to me too. Didn't stop apologizing for that, took a few years actually." I chuckle and he joins in.

Please don't talk about us, please, please, please.

"So, are we going to ignore this forever?" He questions a bit seriously.

"I don't know what you're talking abo—"

"Just answer this, do you have a boyfriend or a husband or a fling or any partner for that matter?" he interrupts my act of cluelessness.

My eyes widen at his bluntness.

Way to be subtle.

"What ar—"

"Ritu, please, I— I beg you okay? Answer me."

"Okay, well, no. I don't have any of those that you mentioned..."

"I don't either." He grins and I can't help but feel relieved from that.

Whatever happened to 'feel like using him'?

At that thought, a pang of hurt hit me as I know that it'd be like I was using him whenever I wanted and throwing him away whenever I didn't.

I give him a smile as nonchalant as possible, showing that it doesn't matter anymore even if the both of us are single.

His grin falters and he grabs and holds my hands.

"Ritu, why don't we let the past be in the past? It's just a bad memory!" He pleads.

"But Nikki, we can't just do that!"

He suddenly smirks as if he realized something before putting on that heartbreaking smile of his.

"Hello! I'm Nikhil, I heard that you were the newlywed bridegroom's sister, so I thought I'd say 'Hi'!" He raises his hands, palms facing me in a 'hello' gesture which was so obviously cute!

"What're you..." I trail away just as it hit me.

"Maybe, maybe when we've grown up, we can be together. And if we find each other again, maybe we can start over, new leaf."

"You heard me..." I whisper in realization.

Is that why he probably let you be?

"Heard what? I just met you today." He plays clueless and from the look in his eyes, I can say that yes, he had indeed heard me that day.

"Hi, I'm Rithvika!" I start with a shaky voice and clear my throat before continuing, "You can call me Ritu." I wink at him, playing along.

"Hey, I know we only met but will you go out with me?" He blurts out.

"Please?" He drags the 'e' while looking at me from under his lashes.

Le sigh, the puppy dog eyes.

"Fine." I give in, throwing my hands.

He grins warmly and gazes at something behind me.

"Vicky!" A voice says.

"Harsh!" I exclaim as I see who it is and throw my arms around him.

"And Ved!" I pull in a smiling Ved into the hug.

"And Vicky!" Ved teases.

"And Nikhil!" Harsh screams, almost making me deaf.

They greet each other and I ask Harsh where Mia was.

"Irritating Shravan and Darsh." He replies and that one word was enough to know.

"Why don't we find them?" Nikhil suggests and we agree, searching for them.

We finally found them standing with a bunch of kids who seem very interested in Shravan's hands which are probably explaining his new comic idea for the comic strip he runs along with Darsh beside their professional job.

Mia sits with her head resting on Neha's shoulder and suddenly starts doubling over in laughter along with Neha at something she said while Darsh rolls his eyes but once Neha notices us—all of us—she smiles while urging Darsh to look at us.

Darsh and Mia talked about their feelings during their eleventh grade or something and barely made it a month before they broke up on mutual agreement that they were better off as friends and now, Darsh is happily in love with Neha while Mia...she's still a pervert.

He turns and notices the four of us, a big smile on his face and Mia butts in, hugging Ved and Harsh shitless while muttering 'Oh my favorite gay couple'.

"We're the only gay couple you know." Ved deadpans.

"Unless you've been cheating on us!" Harsh finishes, gasping obnoxiously.

"You're the only gay couple I know, so shut up!" Mia rolls her eyes.

"How was the dessert? Did you guys like it? Harsh helped with the crème though!" She jitters, since it was the bakery she works in that catered the dessert-section.

"Well, it wasn't your classic extra nutty dark chocolate brownie but I loved it—"

"And that would be an understatement. It was so friggin' awesome!" Nikhil bursts.

"Wait till you taste those brownies I told you about." I comment.

"Oh I have, they were heavenly!" Nikhil replies.

"Wait, so Nikhil had visited Mia's bakery, he got invited to this wedding by Jay and everyone except me stayed in touch with him without me knowing about it? You too, Neha?" I accuse.

"Uh...surprise, Vicky?" Shaina asks, suddenly standing near me.

Everyone had been a bit skeptical about her, but after a few years, we all got along well.

Just like we all had accepted Neha when she and Darsh got into relationship, but Neha welcome was more warmer because she didn't try hurting any of us.

Well, 'we' as in excluding Nikhil, because we never stayed in contact after tenth grade and I never knew how to get in touch with him again, after what I'd done to him.

But looks like these egg-heads were actually keeping tabs on him all along.

I blink bewilderedly.

"Hey chill, do you want me to leave?" Nikhil asks.

"Hell no!" I answer a little too quickly. Clearing my throat, I act cool. "No. I wouldn't mind."

Nailed it.

A few little kids from the group to which Shravan was talking come towards Darsh and tug on his sleeve.

"No more stories?" One of them asks with wide eyes and a small pout.

Shrav looks at us helplessly while Darsh glances warily at our friends and suddenly lightens up.

"No. I've got another one. You see, there were these superheroes called 'Power Rangers'. That was us actually." He starts, pointing to each of us and giving us a Power Ranger color as we all play along for the kids.

He's still got it.

"Wow, he's too good at this shit." Harsh whispers to us.

"Did you forget how bad it was in tenth grade? Oh my God, Neha, I swear, he was such a bitch." Mia whispers back.

We all laugh at the memory.

"Tenth grade man, tenth grade." Nikhil says, stretching his hands 'casually' and rests one of them around my shoulders.

"Yeah, it wasn't necessarily full of sunshine and rainbows alone but," I smile at his antics before continuing.

"Tenth grade was fun!"

A/N: Aaaaand that's a wrap guys. Thanks for standing by me! (Not a good song reference but, eh)

Just remember y'all, romantic love isn't everyting. You've got family, friends so everything will happen when it has to happen and you gotta do what you gotta do for your age. Be happy and work hard.
