Jackie

It was a calm morning. Rose woke up to the realization that she wasn't alone in the bed. There was someone else too. She sleepily lifted her head and looked around. The Doctor was lying next to her. For a short moment, she started panicking.

Then she remembered the last night, and that they were together, everything was okay, and she calmed down. She was thinking if she should wake him.

She stroked his face with her hand, then kissed his cheek. She didn't really want to wake him up. He was sleeping so peaceful, and Rose knew he needed it. So she decided to leave him, and go back to sleep herself too. She laid back and snuggled up next to her love, who hugged her in his sleep like she was a big teddy bear.

A few hours later the Doctor woke up. He looked over to the human who laid next to him. Even in her sleep, he found her beautiful. He couldn't help but smile at the sight. The fact that they were together, for real had truly made him very happy. He loved her. And she loved him too. And it was more than enough for him to be happy.

He started to wake her up slowly. He smoothed a lock of hair from her face with his hands, then he leaned closer to her, and as if he didn't even want to wake her up, he started whispering.

"Rose" He started quietly. He thought about the best way to wake her, and come to the decision, that he's going to kissing her until she wakes up. He was in half sleep himself, and not really wanted to do anything more.

He started kissing her cheek, right next to her mouth, then moved toward her ear. When he reached it, he started calling her again a little bit more awake. Rose began to wake up, but that didn't stop him. With his little kisses, he changed direction toward Rose's neck, who was vigilant enough to know what's happening.

"Doctor." She started sleepily. "While this is the best morning of my life, I don't want to get up yet. "

"But you'll have to, because I'm going to, and I know that you don't want to stay here alone." He said, still kissing her. In response, all he got was a grumpy face. "Then make a deal. If you get up now, I'm going to make breakfast." He offered.

A half-minute later Rose asked. "Can you make tea too?"

"I can." He said smiling, then kissed her one last time and got up.

Soon both of them was sitting in the dining room. They ate silently, deep inside their thoughts, thinking about what to do next.

"You know, sooner or later we need to tell mum." Started Rose. She didn't want to either, and she knew that her friend would like to avoid that conversation, even more, but she was right.

The Doctor sighed. "Yes. But not yet. We have time, don't we?"

"I know that you don't want to, but it would be time. Rather let's get over it, right? Maybe she's going to be tense, I mean, she will be, but she's my mother after all." She said with a little smile.

"Yes. You're right. It's just that honestly, I'm a little. . . scared of her." He confessed as the other laughed. "It's not funny, sometimes Jackie Tyler can be frightening." He said while laughing a little himself too.

"Yes, it's funny. You, the fear of the Daleks, who stopped so many monsters, are frightened by your girlfriend's mother." She said, seemingly enjoying the moment.

"Well, I would rather choose the Daleks." He sighed. "All right, let's go."

"We're here." The Doctor provided the information to Rose that she arrived home.

"And how long have we been away?"

"For about. . .3 weeks." He said looking at the monitor.

"That's not much. Compared to our two months." Rose assessed the situation and smiled when she imagined what happened in that two months.

"You know I thought that it wouldn't be very polite to show up after two months and say we're together. If it's now right too. Jackie will kill me anyway, I don't want her to do it because we kept that secret. . .Anyway, you're probably happy to see her again."

"People don't say 'It is good everywhere but it is the best at home' for no reason. . .Though sometimes I feel like the TARDIS is my second home." She added a few moments later.

"I'm glad you feel that way." He said because it was true. He felt like he would do anything for her, and he was happy that she liked to be in the TARDIS. After all, it was his home. Though people say that home is not a place but where you're with your loved ones. Even if it's not true, it is interesting.

Rose could have pondered quite well, too, as the Doctor had become aware that she was just watching, and he couldn't decide what.

"We go inside then?" He asked, pulling her back to reality. He was curious what was she thinking about.

"'Course, let's go!" She said with a smile and walked toward the door. The Doctor followed.

Rose knocked on the door. Soon a smiling Jackie opened that, and let them in.

A few minutes later they were sitting on the couch and talked. The Doctor set down first, not much later Rose beside him, maybe a little too close, then Jackie in front of them.

"So what's the news? Did anything happen? Tell me!" Jackie started the conversation.

"Well, I and the Doctor would like to tell you something. Right, Doctor?" She looked at the man sitting next to her.

"Yes." That was all he said, then a half minute silence came. He hoped that Rose's not waiting for him to say it.

While they were thinking about why they didn't talk about who's gonna say it earlier, Jackie broke the silence. "And what is it then?"

"Tell her!" Said Rose.

"What? Why me?"

"Because. . ." She didn't know what to say, but she needed to reason it since neither of them wanted to be the one who's gonna make her knew. "You owe me with that."

"I owe you? Tell her you instead, I even made breakfast, though it's not like I use to do it." In the background Jackie started to lost them but didn't cut in, she was interested in where this gonna end up.

"Oh, so it was only for you to bring it up later like that?" It wasn't weird just for Jackie. They didn't use to argue, but somehow it came out of them to the fact that one of them must tell Jackie what was going on, and they knew she's not going to be happy.

"It doesn't matter, you should be the one to tell her, she's your mother we're talking about after all."

"You saying my mother is a burden for you?"

"No, no, I'm just saying that you should tell her."

"Okay, why don't we ask her, who does she want to hear it from?"

"Okay." He said ending their short and unexpected quarrel. Both of them turned to face Jackie with a questioning look.

"Listen, I don't care who's gonna tell me, it doesn't matter if I won't know it right now, just calm down, for God's sake, you're like an old married couple. I'm going to leave you alone, maybe you will be calmed down when I come back. I'll go make tea, I don't have to listen to you at least." She said, stood up, then went to the kitchen.

Only when she was out of sight they started talking. The Doctor turned to face Rose.

"Look, I'm sorry that I brought up the breakfast. I didn't make that because of this, I wanted to be nice to you. I -"

"It's okay, I'm sorry too," Said Rose cutting him half "I overreacted it."

After a few moments, when both of them calmed down, the Doctor sighed.

"Uhm, Rose, you know, one of them will have to tell her."

"We'll talk about it, you heard, she said it doesn't matter if we tell her later. Just enjoy a little that we're together." Rose said, cuddling closer to him.

"Okay." He said, then put a kiss on her forehead. Though he didn't want to spend a long time there, he knew that it's important to Rose, and one quarrel was more than enough.

The day was calmer in the next few hours. The pair acted a little different from the usual, they tried to enjoy the time when they're with a calm Jackie Tyler.

Though things didn't go as planned, it became time for dinner. The Doctor didn't exactly know what they ate, but he wasn't brave enough to ask, and it tasted good.

The dinner went in unusual silence and it started to bother the host. She was now curious about what they wanted to tell her earlier, too.

"Okay, get out with it now! I want to hear what's this all about. You were so weird today. A day passed, you had time to decide who's saying it." Said Jackie curiously.

The Doctor and Rose looked at each other. They breathed in, and hold each other's hands like some kind of encouragement. Jackie saw it but didn't say anything. She didn't want to start talking now when they finally would tell her the point. So she left it to them. After that they told her in sync, looking at her.

"We're together." Was the only, short, but meaningful response.

The now-not-anymore-secret's keepers were waiting for the worse. The Doctor closed his eyes and waited for the punch. Rose, protecting him, tried to move between her mother and her friend. As much as it was possible while sitting. For their luck, between them and the soon-mother-in-law Jackie Tyler, was a table.

But the excepted punch's or shouting's sound wasn't heard. Instead, Jackie just sat in one place and waited for them to calm down. Only then she spoke, when Rose was sitting normally in her chair too, and the Doctor didn't wrinkle his facial muscles by closing his eyes.

"Okay, okay, okay." She said mostly to herself and sighed. "You know I tried to be prepared for this moment, but somehow didn't succeed." She said with a little disappointment.

"Uh, what?" Asked the Doctor. "Prepared? You knew that we. . .that this. . .?" He said, didn't find words, pointing at themselves, looking to Jackie then to Rose.

"From the first moment you came in that door" she pointed to the front door "I knew something's going to happen."

"But. . .how? Even we weren't. . .?" Asked Rose.

"Oh, call it however you want. Maternal instinct or I don't know. But when I got to know you better" she turned to the Doctor "I knew this is going to be serious. Because you were too weird and completely mad." She said smiling a little. "And from a guy like this, you can't just get rid of. . . And then later how you always looked at each other. How you talked when you thought I wasn't there. . ."

They thought about the last sentence a little, the Doctor blushed, but they didn't interrupt. "So I put it all together. The only question left was, when will you finally say it out." It seemed like she finished, so Rose dared to speak.

"And you're not. . .angry?"

"Angry? No. I'm through it." She said, but when they started to calm down, she continued. "BUT. Don't you dare even once hurt her, because I'll find you, understand?" Asked Jackie strictly, and the Doctor twitched a little.

"Yes. Believe me, Jackie, I would never hurt Rose." He said defensively.

"All right." Jackie continued. "Well, I think I said what I wanted. I'll go wash the dishes." She said and stood up.

Rose and Doctor stayed alone again.

"You did it quite well." Said Rose turning to the Doctor.

"I'm honestly glad that we're through this." He said and leaning closer to Rose more quietly continued. "Than that means that I can do that here too?" He asked leaning in, closing his eyes, but now not out of fear, but to make the moment better, and put his lips gingerly to Rose's, who responded his kiss passionately.

"Khm." They heard the sound from the kitchen door. "I'm happy for you two, but if you want to continue this, for all of us's sake I ask you not to do it here." Jackie said causing them to separate, then they gave apologising looks to her and stood up.

They said goodbye and went to the door.

"Wait! There is one more thing. I forgot this." Started Jackie, when they were at door. "Is there anything I need to be worried about?" She asked.

"I don't think there's anything. But even if something's up we're gonna get through it. There won't be any problem, Jackie, you can calm down. Trust me, there's no thing we couldn't solve." Said the Doctor, trying to help. Just Jackie didn't mean it like that. She worried about Rose. In every way.

"You heard, Mum, everything will be okay." Said Rose, hugging her mum.

"Okay I hope so, but I didn't mean it like that."

"Then what did you mean?" Came the question.

"I don't want to know details about your personal life, but as a mother, I need to ask. The alien sex is not dangerous, right?" She asked. "I mean I don't want to-"

This question was unexpected. Rose decided to let the Doctor speak, he knows these things better than her anyway.

"No need to worry, Jackie, there's nothing to be afraid of." He said though he wasn't prepared for these kinds of questions, he tried to act like an adult. "Time Lords are similar to humans in these kinds of things." No, he wasn't prepared.

"Okay then, I hope you understand why I had to ask." She said and they only nodded in response.

After that, they said goodbye and continued in the TARDIS where they stopped earlier.

Thank you for reading. That was the situation from my point of view. I hope you liked it, if yes you can show it, I appreciate constructive criticism. I hope Jackie's not much out of character. I tried but she must be a little. Apart from that, I hope it was enjoyable.
See you next time, until that, have a good time!
