The Lost get Found
"...now hold tight. I'm coming for you." I heard her say and I couldn't have been more relieved. Finally, this nightmare would be over... Well I hope it will be anyways. I sat in the dark patiently waiting for my girl to find me. I couldn't help but smile at the fact that all this was almost over. She just needed to find me, which I knew wouldn't be a problem. She's the evil queen. Maybe not so evil anymore, but she won't let anyone stand in between her love life. Luckily for her, I'm the same way too. A few more minutes pass before I hear a few thuds above me, and I realized that it was probably my mom and Regina waking just above me. A minute later and the sunlight flooded the room almost blinding me. I covered my eyes with my left arm... My good arm while my eyes adjusted to the light after several days without seeing anything at all. "Oh my god Emma!" I hear Regina cry out before she runs over to me and hugs me. She too now sitting on the cold stone floor, only this time I was safe... In her arms.
The second I opened the storm cellar, my heart dropped at the disheveled blonde that sat in front of me. Her skin pale and dry, her clothes filthy. "Oh my god Emma!" I cry out saddened yet relieved that she was safe... Maybe not safe, but alive. I sat down next to her and brought her close to me. Her body trembling with fear and from the cool winter breeze that was just beginning to arrive. I hugged her tightly, but she yelled in pain and that's when her mother came to her side. "Emma, sweetie, your okay now. We have to get you to the hospital. You aren't well." She said sadly as she stroked her daughters dirty blonde hair. I looked at Emma sadly and she nodded her agreement obviously too exhausted, and deprived of water and food to do much of anything else. "Regina, stay here with her, I'll call an ambulance." Snow said and I nodded. I helped get Emma out of the storm cellar before she collapsed from complete exhaustion. I sat down in the soft grass and put her head in my lap and stroked her hair as her eyes finally began to close. "You're safe now Emma." I said and after those words were said, she was sound asleep. Snow and I waited for the ambulance to arrive while the blonde continued to sleep at my side. When the ambulance finally arrived, the paramedics strapped Emma onto a gernie and lifted her into the back of the truck. The second she was lifted off the ground her eyes fluttered open again and I sighed, knowing that the best thing right now would be to sleep. "We only have room for one of you guys in the back." One of the paramedics said to us while Emma was being checked out by the others.
I looked at Snow who looked at me and nodded towards the open back end of the ambulance. "Go Regina. She needs you." She said with a slight smile. I nodded briefly and climbed into the ambulance and took a seat next to Emma's gernie. "Regina..." She said weakly and I smiled weakly at my blonde. She lifted her hand towards mine and I got her message. I wrapped my hand in hers, and as I did, a small smile formed on her dry, cracked lips. She was quiet the rest of the ride to the hospital although very much awake. They lifted her out of the ambulance and took her into the emergency room. I was at her side holding her hand the entire way. "We need to get her IV fluids!" A nurse called as we rolled into a small three walled room that had curtains for the fourth and final wall. The nurses were running around Emma, checking her over. My hand still wrapped around hers the whole time. They took a few X rays of Emma's right arm, which was clear eve without x rays that it was broken. "A very serious break." That's what the doctor called it. "What does that mean?" I ask worried. "Well since it wasn't set right after the incident, the only way to fix it is with immediate surgery. Marrow has already begun to leak into her muscles, and if it's not taken care of right away, it can cause some potentially deadly problems." He explained. "I sighed and nodded. "Do what you have to do then." They began to take Emma out of the room, but she wouldn't let go of my hand. "Emma, you have to let go. Your safe now." I said soothingly. "Ms. Mills, you can come in and be with her through the anesthesia." A nurse said and I looked at her gratefully. "Wait, won't the anesthesia hurt the baby?" I asked. The nurse looked at me sadly. "It's a miracle if it's not already... Ms.Mills, you have to pick and choose. We might not be able to save both of them, but we know we can save Emma in the very least." I sighed and nodded understanding what she said, but still not completely sinking in. We were rushed into the surgery prep room where I put on sterile clothing, a hair net and slippers over my feet before we entered the surgery room. I held Emma's hand and the mask was put on her face. "I love you Emma." I said. I saw her give a small smile in return and she mumbled back, but I couldn't make it out through the mask. After saying her last word, her eyes were closed and she was finally put under. I sighed and got up, leaving the surgeons to do what needed to be done while I took off the sterile clothing and headed to the waiting room where Snow, David, Ruby and my mother and sister were already waiting. I sat down next to snow and sighed while I sunk into the chair. My arms resting on the arm rests. Snow gently took my hand and looked at me. She's going to be okay Regina. She will get through this... You both will get through this." Snow said trying to encourage me. "I know... I responded. I just don't know if Emma will be able to handle the news about the baby with all of this..." I said as tears began to fall. "Regina, everything will work out, I promise." Snow said confidently. "How can you be so sure?" I asked. "It's called hope Regina, not everything in your life is completely bad. Sometimes a little bit of hope can help you see positively rather than negatively." She explained and I nodded. "We're all here for you and Emma." Ruby said. "If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask. We know how much she means to you." She continued but smiled sadly and I knew what she was feeling. She was trying to be happy for Emma and I even though she has feelings for Emma and suddenly everything that has happened between Ruby and Emma fall into place. Ruby was jealous that Emma was mine and not hers. If I had been her at her age, I would have killed for love, hell, I almost killed Neal today, to get my Emma. thankfully now locked he was locked up in jail.
Two hours went by before we heard any news about Emma. David, Zelena and my mother had both fallen asleep while we waited. Ruby, Snow and I however, were just too worried to even think about sleep. "Regina." A nurse called out and everyone was suddenly awake. I stood up and rushed over to her. "How's Emma? Is she alright?" I asked and the nurse nodded. "She will be waking up for the anesthesia shortly. The surgery was successful." She said and I let out a sigh of relief but then I remembered. "And the baby?" I asked hesitantly. "We will know more in the morning, Ms. Mills." And I nodded in disappointment. "You can sit in the recovery room with Emma while she wakes up, if you'd like." The nurse said and I nodded. "Anyone else want to come?" The nurse asked and Snow and David immediately jumped up and walked over to us. "We want to see our daughter." David said and the nurse smiled and nodded. "Then follow me please." She said and we followed her through a large set of doors, down a couple of hall ways, and into a room with a large window. I looked through the window before opening the door to go in. The blonde's chest was rising and falling slowly as she slept. Her right arm was in a cast and an IV line was hooked up to the other. I opened the door and we walked in the room, and continued to watch the sleeping blonde. "Just let me know when she's awake. We want to keep her over night for a couple of nights just to make sure she's okay." The nurse said. The three of us nodded before the nurse left us to be with Emma. We sat down in the chairs that were in the small room, and we watched Emma intently, waiting for any signs that she was waking up.
I heard voices, distant voices, but I knew who they belonged to; my parents and Regina. I was still asleep, my eyes were still closed, yet I could hear their whole conversation. "We know you love her Regina." My mother said and at that, my eyes slowly drifted open and I turned my head slowly and looked over at Regina and my parents and smiled at them, more specifically, Regina. "I love you too." I said, or tried to say anyways. My throat was still dry and it hurt to speak, but I think my message came across clearly. They smiled at me, and Regina leaped out of her chair and rushed over to me, wrapping her arms around me and kissing me passionately. "I'm so glad your okay." She said as we broke apart from our hug. "We were so worried about you!" Snow said walking over to the hospital bed to hug her daughter. "I was so scared I would never see you again." Regina said as tears began to fall on her soft pink cheeks. "Well I'm here now. I'm okay." I responded trying to stay positive. "Emma, your not okay. He almost killed you." I said some what angrily. "But he didn't Regina. I'm here with you. I'm safe." She said in a raspy voice. "Can I have some water?" She asked and David nodded. "I'll go get the doctor and let him know she's awake." He said and left the room, just leaving me with my mom and Regina. After a moment, before we could talk any further, my dad returned with the Doctor. "Emma, how are you feeling? Any pain?" He asked and I shook my head. "No, I'm good." I responded. "Well that's good! So here's the plan, we want to keep you here for a night or two just to make sure everything is okay so we are going to take you to your room now." He said and I nodded my understanding. I was wheeled in my hospital bed down a couple of hallways, into an elevator, down another hallway, and then into a hospital room. "Regina, Snow and David, you guys are more than welcome to stay the night here with Emma. Because she isn't critically ill, we will allow visitors." The doctor said. "Thank you" Regina called out as he left the room. "hey mom, could you please give Regina and I a moment alone?" I asked. "Of course sweetie. Take as much time as you need." My mom responded, and the two of them left the room, closing the door behind them.
