Stories (이야기)

"Hell yeah!" Jimin excitedly grabbed a can from the cooler backstage as assistants rushed to his side to take off the microphone and earpiece, "Last stop done! It's beer time!" He took a long sip and noticed the girl standing shyly off to the side, "Oh, hey Nari! How did you like the concert?"

Nari nodded enthusiastically, "I loved it! You guys are so talented and you look so happy!"

"Awe, thank you, sweetheart," The boy grinned and brushed off the people buzzing around him, "I'm so glad that you like it." He opened his arms to give the girl a hug, but thought twice, "I probably shouldn't do that, I'm super sweaty and gross." He laughed good naturedly and laid a supportive hand on the top of her head, "Now you can finally go back home."

The rest of the boys stumbled off the stage and grabbed a beer from the cooler, except for Suga. He took his headset off and handed it to an assistant before getting a towel to rub off his makeup. Taehyung on the other hand, eagerly gulped down his drink and seemed to jog in place as crew members removed his microphone. His mouth ran a mile a minute, making Nari smile. She missed his company and the positive energy that surrounded him.

"Hey darling," Namjoon greeted the girl, "Did you like the concert?"

"It was amazing!" Nari repeated, "I loved it so much."

The boy smiled widely, "Good. I'm so glad you think so." He accepted a towel from the crew member who took his headset, "Thank you. Anyway, we usually go out for drinks after our last concert of the tour, and I'm sorry Nari but you're not quite old enough to join us," Namjoon chuckled, "So is it okay if you go back to the dorm with Taehyung and Rika? We'll be there in a few hours."

She nodded, slightly disappointed, "Okay. But why can't Tae drink with you guys?"

"Uh," Namjoon shot a glance at the blue haired boy, who was already on his second can of beer and becoming louder by the minute, "Taehyung is a bit of a messy drunk. We have a deal with management that if he drinks he needs to go straight home."

"I'll take them back to my penthouse," Suga spoke up, catching the attention of the boy in front of him, "It's a shorter distance from here to there anyway, plus they need to unload all of our stuff at the dorm so it's going to be hard to sleep. We'll crash there for the night and meet back up with you guys in the morning. The passcode is still the same so stop by whenever."

Namjoon shrugged, "Sure, why not? Is this okay with you, Nari?"

"Uh huh," The girl agreed and looked up at Suga, who smiled warmly. She missed him too.

"Alright lovely, we should get going before traffic gets too bad," The boy took her hand supportively and yelled over his shoulder, "Hey Tae! We're going to my place!"

Taehyung bounced excitedly over to where they stood, overflowing with energy, "Where's your place again? What place? Oh hi princess!" He grabbed her other hand, "Hey hey Suga we should do that thing that parents do with little kids where they like take a step and lift them up high and that stuff. Do you know what I'm talking about? We should totally do it."

"I think Nari is a little old for that," Suga replied patiently, as if he was talking to an unruly child, "Let's just walk normally, okay? We're going to go to my penthouse and order some takeout-"

"I want pancakes!" The blue haired boy interrupted, "Nari can we please get pancakes? Please please pleeeeeease?"

Nari giggled, "Why are you asking me? Suga is the one who makes the decisions."

Namjoon smiled as he watched the three make their way off the stage. He pulled out his phone and texted an address to his newest contact. Tonight could only get better from here.

After reaching a compromise with Taehyung and stopping for chicken nuggets, the three of them arrived at the oldest boy's penthouse. "Whoa, this place is huge!" Nari gasped in awe as the brunette opened the door for her to the fashionable apartment, "I never even knew that you had all this!"

Suga shrugged as he switched on the lights, "I don't get to come here often, but it's nice to have a place for my family to stay when they visit."

"Damn man, I gotta buy my own place!" Taehyung twirled around the room, collapsing on the soft couch in the middle of the living room, "I'm gonna buy a biiiiig mansion like J-Hope and I'll get 7 dogs and a pool and like a rock climbing wall and Nari can stay with me too!"

Nari laughed and poked the boy's cheek playfully, "But Tae, what about the other boys? Won't they miss us?"

"Nah," Taehyung jumped up and gathered the girl in a bone crushing hug, tighter than ever before, "They can visit!"

"Gentle, be gentle," Suga sternly reprimanded him, sensing Nari's discomfort, "Taehyung, you're being too rough."

The boy immediately let her go, apologizing profusely, "Oh fuck I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Dammit!" He collapsed to the ground and buried his face in his hands, "I don't want to hurt you, Nari. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, I forgive you " Nari said and kneeled beside him, wrapping her arms around his body, "It's all good, Tae. You didn't hurt me."

"You promise?"

The girl gently kissed his cheek, "I promise."

He said nothing and returned Nari's hug, his touch so very delicate as if he was afraid he would break her. Taehyung took a shaky breath and looked up to the curly haired boy in front of him, "I wanna go to bed now."

"That's probably a good idea," Suga agreed and helped him and the girl up from the floor, "You can borrow some of my clothes for the night. Take the bedroom at the end of the hall, okay?"

Nari watched the tired boy meander down the hallway, "Suga, is he okay?"

"He's okay, don't worry about Tae," Suga reassured her, "He gets clingy when he's drunk, that's all, and doesn't know his own strength sometimes. I'm sorry if I scared you. I just didn't want you to get hurt, even though his intentions were good." He yawned deeply, "We should probably go to bed too, lovely. You can take my room and I'll get the other guest bedroom. I'll give you one of my shirts for pyjamas or something like that."

The girl followed him to a large room, possibly even bigger than the living room. All kinds of art hung on the walls and there were two large bookshelves in the back. However, what took up the most space was the massive bed covered with blankets and pillows. Suga rummaged through the closet next to the bookshelves and pulled out a black t shirt with stars on the front of it.

"Here, you can have this," He handed it to the girl, nonchalantly ripping the price tags off.

Nari took a closer look at the crumpled pieces of paper, "Suga, this was like 300 thousand won."

"Huh? Really?" He took the price tag from her, studying it carefully, "I guess so. Most of my clothes here are from sponsorships or purchased by producers, so I don't really wear it that often."

The girl nodded and stood up, "Hey Suga?"

"Yes, lovely?"

"Can you read to me tonight?" Nari's voice softened, "I've really missed reading with you."

Suga smiled as his heart melted like cotton candy, "Of course, Nari. I've missed reading with you too. Go to the bathroom and get dressed, I'll look for a story for us."

Nari slipped out of the room as the boy turned to the shelf in front of him, absentmindedly running his fingers across the spines of the books. He mentally checked off each novel as he read the titles. Too long, too adult, too complex, too boring; Suga sighed at the lack of bedtime story material in his shelves. This was going to be a little more complicated than he thought.

"Shu-ger, I'm back," Nari reappeared in the doorway with the black t shirt down to her knees, along with a tall blue haired companion, "Tae wanted to come too. Can he read with us?"

Suga shrugged, "I don't see why he can't as long as he goes back to his own room when we're done."

"Thank you, Suga," The girl gave him a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek before climbing into bed, "I love you."

Taehyung nestled under the covers beside the girl, pulling the blanket up to his chin, "Please don't make me go back," He tenderly wrapped his arms around Nari, pulling her closer into a gentle but loving embrace, "Nari can be my cuddle buddy, you know that I always sleep better when I'm hugging someone. Please let me stay."

"Alright, I guess so," Suga surrendered, taking a seat at the foot of the bed, "You can stay. Oh also, Nari, I'm sorry but I don't have any good books for us. Do you want me to sing instead?"

Nari shook her head, "Shu-ger, I want you to tell me a story about you."

"About me?"

"Uh huh, about you," The girl nodded, "What makes you Suga? Where did you grow up? How did you meet the rest of the boys? I want to hear a story like that. The good parts and the bad parts, okay?"

He smiled, "Alright lovely. I grew up in Daegu To-"

"You didn't start it right," Taehyung interrupted.

"What do you mean?" Suga replied, slightly frustrated, "There is no right way to start a story-"

"You didn't start it right," The boy repeated stubbornly, "You need to say once upon a time."

Suga turned his gaze to the girl, hoping to get out of Taehyung's request. Nari just nodded and looked at him expectantly. The boy sighed, no longer fighting it since he was clearly outnumbered, and began his story once again, "Once upon a time, I was born in Daegu Town. My family didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I spent most of my time by myself. I played basketball a lot and I wrote music too. My parents didn't really like that though. They wanted me to be good at school so that when I grew up I'd make money. So they took away my notebooks and made me go to cram school."

"That's dumb." Nari spoke up, "They shouldn't have done that to you, Shu-ger."

"It's okay, don't worry about that,"Suga assured her, "Anyway, even though my parents didn't like it, I kept writing lyrics. I got a job at recording studio and learned as much about music I could. I did some underground rapping for a while until I went to an audition. I passed and I became a trainee." He chuckled, "When BigHit first signed me they told me that I would mostly be a producer, not an idol. They tricked me."

"Tricked you?" The girl asked, "You mean you didn't want to be an idol?"

"Well, not exactly," Suga admitted, "I wanted to be a producer and make music behind the scenes." He continued, "Then I met Namjoon and the rest of the boys, and as I got to know them I came around eventually." His voice softened, "But not everything was good from there. I still had to work to support myself while I was a trainee, so I got a job as a delivery boy."

Taehyung gasped, "Oh, I sometimes forget about this."

"Yeah," The boy replied, "During a delivery one day I got hit by a car and messed my shoulder up pretty bad." He managed a pained smile, "I didn't tell anyone because I was afraid BigHit would drop me as a trainee. I should have though, the damage became permanent and there's some stuff I can't do now because of it."

Nari shrugged her way out of Taehyung's arms and made her way over to Suga, giving him a loving hug. She laid her head against his chest, "Shu-ger, I had no idea you were hurting that much."

"Lovely girl, don't be sad for me," Suga spoke softly and kissed her head, "I'm okay, you don't have to worry! Just promise me that if you're struggling in any way, you'll tell us, okay?"

"I promise," Nari solemnly replied, "I love you."

Suga gently pushed her away, tucking the girl back in bed and into the other boy's arms, "I love you too, Nari. Is that a good enough bedtime story for you, lovely?"

"It's my turn now!" Taehyung announced with renewed energy, "I'm gonna tell my story!" He left light kisses on the side of the girl's face as little giggles escaped her mouth, "You stay, Suga. You have to be here too."

The boy took a deep breath, "Once upon a time, a looooong time ago, I was born on a farm in Daegu Town; just like Suga! We had cows and crops and all of that stuff. Like Suga, my family didn't have a lot of money and my parents were busy a lot, so my grandmother took care of me and my siblings." He smiled at the fond memories, "My grandmother was the best person ever. She was so kind and loving and supportive...I miss her very much."

"I wish I could have met her." Nari said softly, snuggling into his frame.

"Me too," Taehyung agreed, "She would have loved you. " His eyes glimmered with the beginnings of tears, "I miss my siblings too. My little sister used to call me oppa, she's the only one in the world I'll let do that besides you, but now she just says 'hey'. I haven't talked to my brother since New Year's either."

"It's okay, Tae," The girl assured him and gently placed her thumb on his cheek, covering a lone teardrop, "You're a great big brother and we're all so lucky to have you. They might not be the best at showing it, but I'm sure that your siblings still care about you a lot."

Taehyung smiled and placed a loving kiss on her forehead, "Thank you, Nari," His voice dropped to a whisper, "I'll treat you like a princess and I'll never ever be too busy for you. Just...please don't grow up. That's all."

"You can't ask that of her, Tae," Suga shook his head, "Nari has her own path to take in life. It's not fair to stop her."

"I know, I know," The younger boy replied defeatedly, "But I can't stand the thought of someday just being 'hey'. My princess, you're special to me. I don't know what I would do if we grew apart like that."

Nari spoke softly, "I swear we never will. Knights don't leave their princesses, you know. Besides, I love you. A lot."

"I love you too." Taehyung let out a deep yawn, "Now where was I with my story? Oh yes, that's right: I knew I wanted to be a singer pretty early on and my parents didn't really get it, but they supported me. My dad made me play an instrument though because he said that every singer had to have one. I played the saxophone for a while but I quit to focus on dance."

Suga laughed and laid horizontally on the foot of the bed with his feet dangling off the side, "I forgot about that too."

"Yeah, I honestly do too," He admitted, "It didn't really amount to much in the end anyway. During my audition for BigHit I didn't take it too seriously, so when I got the news that I passed it came as a huge surprise." The boy's eyes started to close as his voice slowed, "I never thought I'd make it this far, you know? I'm....so....grateful....for everything."

Nari felt his embrace loosen and the boy's soft breath tickle her ear. She slowly disentangled herself from Taehyung's arms and spoke softly to Suga, "I guess he fell asleep, huh?"

"Looks like it," He replied with a chuckle, "When Taehyung is drunk he'll pass out and won't wake up until morning no matter what you do. So, do you want to stay here or take one of the other bedrooms?"

"I want to stay," Nari replied, "I want you to stay too, if you can. I miss being close with you guys." She paused, "And I never knew that Tae was this scared, you know?"

"He's good at hiding his negative emotions," Suga answered, smiling at her thoughtfulness, "With all the love he has, he carries just as much worry too."

The girl nodded and cuddled into the younger boy's frame, quietly nestled under his chin, "I hope he knows that I'm not in any hurry to grow up. I like being here with all of you and I don't want that to change."

Suga walked over to the light switch beside the bed, "Believe me, lovely, you don't need to worry about that. We'll be here for you. Always." He placed a kiss on her forehead and switched the lights off, enveloping the room in darkness, "Sweet dreams, Nari. I love you."

"I love you too. And Shu-ger?"

"Hm?"

"Thank you, for everything that you do."

He smiled, "Of course. Anything for you, Nari."

The pale boy laid back down at the end of the bed and grabbed a blanket from the floor. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but he knew that it meant too much to the girl for him to leave. Suga closed his eyes. His heart finally felt full for the first time in a very long time.
