Missing You (네가 그리워)

"We'll see you guys soon!" Taehyung waved goodbye to Nari and Namjoon as they parted ways at the airport, "Tell your parents I said hello."

"Yeah!" Jungkook shouted after him, "And say hi to your sister for me!"

Namjoon rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah, Jungkook. And thanks, Tae. I will." He turned to the girl beside him, "Ready?"

"Yes," Nari nodded, "How far away is your parent's house?"

"It's not too far, half an hour maybe." Sensing the girl's growing anxiety, he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, "Don't worry, darling. My family is really nice. You'll like them a lot. Besides, not to brag or anything, but I have the cutest dog in the entire world."

She managed a nervous smile and followed him to the car. The ride over was pretty quiet but neither of them minded. With all the craziness of the week before, it was nice to finally have a little silence. Nari leaned against Namjoon's shoulder and took a deep breath. Meeting new people always made her at least a little nervous.

"So Nari, how did you like America?" The boy asked, "Was it everything you hoped it would be?"

"Yes." The girl answered without skipping a beat, "I loved it so much. Can we go back soon?"

Namjoon laughed, "We'll see, darling. I'm glad that you had fun though. Are you and Iris going to stay in touch?"

Nari nodded, thinking about her conversation with Suga a few days ago, "Uh huh." She swallowed the lump in her throat, "Namjoon, can I tell you something?"

"Of course." He replied with a concerned glance, "Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing is wrong," The girl assured him, "I just thought you should know that I think I kind of have a crush on Iris. That's all. Sorry."

"Awe, don't apologize, sweet lily," Namjoon answered softly and pulled her into a hug, "You can date whoever you want and I'll always love you the same. We all will." He smiled, "Thank you for trusting me, darling. I love you so much."

She let out a deep breath before pulling away, "You're welcome, Namjoon. I love you too."

The car came to a gradual stop in front of a pretty normal looking house in the suburbs. Namjoon helped the girl out of the car and placed a quick kiss on the top of her head, "Don't worry, my Nari. I promise that they'll love you just as much as I do."

As they walked up the driveway, the door to the house opened and a white fluffy dog wearing a striped sweater shot out like a bullet. The boy grinned and kneeled down to accept the pup in his arms, "Rapmon! I missed you so much!"

Nari smiled and gently stroked the dog's soft fur, "Rapmon, you said?"

"Rapmon!" Namjoon repeated and covered the dog's head in little kisses, "Isn't he just the cutest?"

"Joon?" A middle aged woman stood in front of them and Namjoon instantly jumped up to greet her.

"Mom! I've missed you!" He wrapped her in a tight hug, "I'm so happy to see you."

She returned his embrace, "Joon, I'm so proud of you. I miss you so much." She pulled away and turned to the girl at his side, "And you must be Nari."

"Yeah! This is Nari!" Namjoon eagerly introduced the shy girl, "Nari, this is my mom."

"I'm so happy to finally meet you," The woman smiled and held out her hand, "Joon talks about you so much. Welcome to the family, sweetie."

Nari bashfully accepted her handshake, "It's nice to meet you too."

When they went inside, she was introduced to the two other members of the family: Namjoon's father and sister, who both accepted her warmly and made the girl feel right at home. They all sat down at the table in the living room to catch up while Nari was left to explore the rest of the house with Rapmon at her side.

Family pictures were everywhere she looked. The girl couldn't help but giggle when she saw what looked like an elementary aged Namjoon. His chubby cheeks were so adorable and his smile was still the same. Even back then, his dimples shone just as bright.

"Joon, don't be rude!" His sister teased, shaking her back to reality. She was taller than Nari for sure, but not tall enough to compete with Namoon's height. Her hair was worn in a neat middle part and went past her shoulders. The fine strands of hair were a nice beeline honey color with a hint of copper shimmer when the light hit it. The happy, glossy lips were in between a pair of dimples that twinned perfectly with her brother.  "Give Nari a tour. This is her house too now."

"Oh! You're right!" Namjoon got up from the table, "Thanks, Sujin." He motioned for Nari to follow him, "Come on, darling. I'll show you around."

After seeing the living room, dining room, and kitchen, they went upstairs. Namjoon stopped in front of a door with a moon on it. He turned to the girl, "This is my room. I don't think that I've touched it in a couple years, actually."

"Do you mind if I poked around a little?" Nari asked.

"Not at all," Namjoon shook his head, "What's mine is yours. You're welcome to take anything you want."

She nodded, "Thank you. You can go back to back to your family if you want, I'm good here."

"You sure?"

"Uh huh. Go ahead."

Namjoon left her with a quick peck on the cheek, "You're the best, darling. Come back down whenever you want. I'll call you for lunch soon, okay?"

Nari smiled as she heard his quick footsteps run down the stairs. He loved his family so much. She opened the door to the room and took a good look around. It wasn't much different from his room at the dorm, really. His bed was made neatly, posters sporadically dotted the walls, and little trinkets covered every available surface.

She went over to his desk, which still had various notebooks and pencils on it. Nari cautiously flipped through one of the notebooks. It seemed to be full of notes for math so complicated that she didn't even want to try to understand it. Well, Taehyung did tell her that he studied to be an engineer. Maybe this was one of his notebooks for that. According to the other members, he was one of the best students in the country before becoming an idol.

Her hand stopped as one page in particular caught her eye. Instead of organized notes, this page was full of scribbles and phrases that she could barely read. The stained and messy ink rendered most of the words unreadable, but there were a few that Nari could piece together.

Would you rather have a 1st place rapper or a 5,000th place student?

She flipped through the rest of the notebook and saw the phrase repeated inbetween paragraphs of notes. After a while there were no more equations and no more problems, only pages of seemingly incomplete poems and words written with a heavy hand that often ripped the pieces of paper behind it. Nari closed the spiral bound notebook and took it with her. He said that she could take anything, right? She had a feeling that this notebook was important.

The girl left the room, closing the door softly behind her. She made her way back to the kitchen. Namjoon smiled and waved as soon as he saw her in the doorway, "Hey, darling. What's that you've got?" He gently took the journal from her hands and flipped through the pages, "Oh man, I haven't seen this in forever."

"What is it?" His father asked and peered over his shoulder, "One of your old notebooks?"

Namjoon nodded and closed it quickly, handing the journal back to his smaller companion, "Yeah, it's some of my calculus notes from high school. There's some poems in there too." He smiled, changing the subject, "You know, Nari's pretty smart too. She's like way ahead in her online schooling."

"Looks like she's already taking after you," Sujin replied, "That's so cute. Nari, is Joonie good to you? If he's not, you can just tell us and we'll whip him back into shape."

Nari blushed, "Namjoon is very good to me. I'm happy with him."

"Trust me, she's getting taken care of," Namjoon laughed, "Between me and the rest of the boys, especially Taehyung, she's spoiled."

"As spoiled as your dog?"

"Hey!" He defended himself, "Rapmon deserves it. Look how cute he is! That reminds me, I bought him another coat while we were in New York. Did you know that Gucci has a line of sweaters for pets now?"

"Nari, sweetie, do you want to help me make some lunch?" The older woman at the end of the table smiled, "I'd like to get to know you a little better."

Namjoon groaned, "Come on Mom, don't make her help you with chores. I'll do it-"

"You broke three plates last tine you were here, Namjoon. I do not want you anywhere near this kitchen." She declared and went to the other room, "Nari, could you join me please?"

"Darling you don't have to." The boy assured Nari at the doorway, "I can do it."

The girl shrugged and set the notebook she was carrying down as she followed the woman back to the kitchen, "You're bad at cooking. It's okay, I don't mind."

"Alright, you got me there." He admitted, "Go ahead. Just get me if you need anything."

Nari started chopping the vegetables that Namjoon's mother handed her and they worked in silence for a little while while she got the rice cooker ready.

"You're getting enough to eat with the boys, right?" The older woman asked her, "You're getting healthy food too and not just junk? Oh, you can call me Mi-Cha, by the way. I just realized that I never introduced myself to you earlier, my bad."

"It's okay," The girl answered, "And yes, I get healthy food too. Jin is a really good cook and Namjoon makes sure that we all eat vegetables, even Suga and Jungkook." She paused, "Can I ask you a question, Mi-Cha?"

"Of course. Anything."

Nari took a deep breath and looked to the rest of the family at the table in the living room, "Namjoon, has he always been like this? Was he always this kind?"

"Yes," Mi-Cha smiled, "Namjoon is truly one of the kindest people I know. He has that special ability to see right to a person's heart, you know? I've never known him to be anything but loving and selfless."

She nodded, knowing exactly what she meant, "Namjoon has helped me through a lot. I'm so...lucky to have him."

"We all are, sweetie," The woman agreed softly, "Take care of him, okay? Make sure that he doesn't push his limits too much, I know that he has the tendency to be hard on himself. Give him all your love. You mean more to him than what you think. I know that he would do anything to make you happy, Nari."
