Conversations (대화)

Nari shot a glance at the digital clock beside her. It was 2:17 in the morning. 2:17. The house was silent as can be, which was a sharp contrast to earlier in the day where noise was filled to the brim. Nari thought that she'd like the quiet, but at this particular moment the silence was killing her.

She had to go to the bathroom. However, she couldn't remember at all where it was in the house. All the doors looked the same from the outside and she didn't want to bother any of the boys by waking them up for such a small request. The only problem was that Nari didn't think she would hold out until morning either.

The girl softly got out of bed and tiptoed over to her door, opening it with a slight creak. She could see faint light emanating from somewhere down the hall. Maybe someone was up after all. She slyly slunk towards the source of the light, desperately hoping so. The girl breathed a sigh of relief as she peeked around the corner and saw a familiar boy with mint green hair eating cereal on the kitchen table.

"Uh, hey Nari." Suga greeted her, slightly confused, "Is there something wrong?"

She shook her head, "No, I mean, yes. Um, where's the bathroom? I forgot. Sorry."

"No, it's okay." The boy assured her, "And it's the first door to the left in the room hall. Oh, and there's something I want to talk to you about. Come back here after you're done, okay?"

Nari said her thanks and hurried off to the hallway he specified, anxiety already starting to claw at her mind. What did he want to talk to her about? And why he up anyway, eating cereal, nonetheless? The girl quickly finished her business and returned to the kitchen where Suga was just as she left him; writing in a small journal between bites of cornflakes.

"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" She asked as she took a chair across from him, "Did I do something wrong?"

"No way!" Suga looked up and shook his head, "I just wanted to ask you what you wanted for breakfast tomorrow, since it's just going to be us two." He continued, "There's no need to worry, Nari, you're doing alright. I was thinking of making omurice, if that's okay with you."

Nari nodded, "That's fine, but I thought Jin did all the cooking."

"He does, but that's because I'm usually really lazy." He laughed, "I really like to cook too, it's just a matter of whether I'm willing to get out of bed or not. I'll do it for you though. You deserve it."

Nari smiled. Suga seemed a little different than the rest of the guys. Maybe more laid back, a bit more carefree. She'd never met anyone that seemed to give off the same vibe as he did. The girl knew she would feel comfortable with him, just like the way she felt with Jin and Namjoon.

"So, what are we going to do tomorrow?" Nari asked.

"Sleep in late and watch movies." He replied smoothly, "You're going to be really busy in the next week with the rest of the guys so I figured that a lazy day at home would be best. Unless you want to go somewhere, of course."

She shook her head, "No, it's okay. I think I'd like that. I'm still new to the house, after all."

"Good." Suga smiled, "I'll be sure to make it special."

"So, uh, Yoongi, what is it that you do for the band?" Nari asked curiously, spying his journal, "Do you write the music?"

The boy nodded, "Uh huh. Well, we all take a part in the composition, but I write a lot of the lyrics. I'm a rapper. Suga is my stage name."

"Oh, do the other boys have stage names too? Like J-Hope?"

"Exactly like J-Hope," Suga agreed, "His real name is Hoseok, but we call him Hobi. Taehyung's stage name is V, like victory, and Namjoon's is RM. It used to be Rap Monster but he changed it a while ago."

Nari couldn't help but let out a giggle, "Rap Monster? I don't know if that fits him very well."

"You're absolutely right," Her older companion smiled, "I like RM a lot better too. He was a little scary back when we first debuted though, he wore lots of eyeliner and wrote a ton of angry music."

"I can't imagine him like that," The girl shook her head, "Namjoon is so kind now."

Suga let out a yawn, "He is. And hey, it's getting late, you should be getting back to bed."

"You too?"

"Yeah, me too," The boy chuckled and stood up, "I'll see you in the morning, Nari. I feel like we're going to be great friends."

"Mornin' Nari!" Suga called cheerfully as the girl entered the kitchen, "Did you sleep well?"

"Good morning, Yoongi." Nari replied, "Uh huh. I slept great."

"That's good to hear. I'm almost done with breakfast so take a seat at the table and I'll be there in a few minutes, yeah?"

The girl took the middle chair and laid her head in her hands as she contently watched Suga cook. Just the smell of whatever he was making was intoxicating. Actually, the aroma from the kitchen was what woke her up this morning. Nari had slept better than she ever had before, and later too, given that it was almost noon already. She supposed that the 45 minute block she spent talking to Suga in the wee hours in the morning was to blame, but it didn't matter now. She was awake and ready to take on the day.

"I present to you Min Yoongi's Super Delicious Omurice!" The green haired boy declared and set a tray in front of her, "Sides include kimchi, sweet biscuits, and beet soup. Enjoy."

Nari quickly said her thanks and dug into the delicious looking meal in front of her. As it turns out, Suga's cooking tasted even better than it looked and smelled.

"Is it good?"

"Yes! Very good." The girl nodded eagerly, "The best thing I've ever eaten."

Suga placed a hand over his heart, "You're so kind. I will hold that compliment in my heart for as long as I live." He took a bite of biscuit, "So, what did you eat in the orphanage anyway? By the way you're tearing into that omurice, I'm getting the impression that it was total shit."

"It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either." Nari explained, "We ate rice and noodles mostly. Oh, plus those prepackaged pieces of dried seaweed."

"You poor child. Don't worry, now that you're here you'll get lots of good food. If anything, we'll make sure of that."

Now that you're here. Nari hadn't even been living with the boys for a full day, and yet those seemed to be the words that were said the most. They seemed determined to make her life with them completely different from her life in the orphanage. Personally, she didn't see the need to change anything. She didn't mind the orphanage, as long as Namjoon came to visit. They were the only ones that insisted on change.

Oh well. The girl shrugged mindlessly and concentrated back on the almost finished food in front of her. The boys were the adults in her life now. However they wanted to take care of her was fine as long as she was fed and clothed, and considering the fact that they were idols with money, it was a pretty safe bet that her basic needs would be fulfilled.

"That was a good meal." Suga stretched and leaned back in his chair, "Just give me like 15 minutes to do the dishes and we can start our movie marathon. You can start setting stuff up in the studio, if you want. I figured we could take advantage of the projector and the floors are nice and flat. Sound good?"

Nari shook her head, "I'll do the dishes. You spent all this time making me breakfast and I want to return the favor."

"You don't have to-"

"I want to." She repeated firmly, "Please, Yoongi."

"Alright, alright!" The boy laughed in defeat, "You can do the dishes. Besides, there's something special I wanted to do." He winked, "Come down when you're ready, 'kay?"

After watching Suga scamper down the stairs to the studio Nari let out a sigh of relief. She barely knew the house at all, so putting together furniture and pillows fit for their day was impossible in her mind.

After cleaning their plates and the various pots and pans that Suga had used to make breakfast, the girl cautiously headed down to the studio. She had heard noises while cleaning dishes of mysterious objects as they had been dragged across the floor and down the stairs so Nari could only guess that Suga had gone the extra mile for this one.

"Ta da!" The green haired boy exclaimed as he opened the door for her, "Welcome!"

Nari's eyes widened as she let out a small gasp. Suga really did go all out. Two mattresses lay on the floor with various blankets and pillows surrounding them on all sides. Stuffed animals also lay scattered around the room, including a huge bear that Nari was pretty sure was taller than her.

She gingerly walked across the room and poked the stuffed animal in question, who actually only came up to her collarbone, "Who's is this? And why is it so big?"

"It's Jimin's." Suga answered, "His name is Ralph. And he's only big because you're so tiny." He walked over to the pair, "See? Ralph only comes up to my elbows."

"It's not my fault that I'm short!" The girl mumbled, "And why is he named Ralph? That's American, isn't it?"

Suga nodded, "Yeah, it's American. We were in the States a little while ago and some fans gave it to him. Why his name is Ralph, I have no idea. That boy does some weird stuff sometimes. Oh, there's one other thing I wanted to show you." He maneuvered his way over to the dial that controlled the lights overhead, "Ready? One, two, three!"

As soon as the lights went out, the room lit up in an ethereal glow. Hundreds, maybe thousands, of little dots that looked exactly like stars covered the floor and walls. Nari collapsed on her knees, taking in every part of her surroundings. She'd never seen anything so beautiful.

"Cool, right?" The boy walked over and sat beside her, "Isn't it pretty? This is why I wanted to go down here. The light from outside can be shut out the easiest."

Nari slowly nodded, "Uh huh. H-How did you do it?"

Glowsticks!" Suga eagerly responded and pulled a blue and yellow ones from his pocket, "If you chop them in half you can sprinkle the dust everywhere and it looks really pretty." He gently tapped the thin blue cylinder and small shining dots appeared on his arm, "See? Plus it's non-toxic and the powder pretty much goes away after it's done glowing." He held the objects in question out to Nari, "Want one?"

The girl nodded shyly and took the yellow glowstick. Experimentally, she bent it backwards and then let go, causing powder to fly everywhere She giggled, "Yoongi, you have sparkles in your hair."

"Oh? Do I?" He smiled mischievously and flicked his glowstick, "Well, I guess you better have some too!"

She grinned and lay flat on the floor, letting the powder cover her at will. Somehow Suga had managed to get the ceiling as well. Nari felt as if she was floating through space without a care in the world. It was a good feeling, a feeling she hoped would last for a long time.

"The city lights are too bright." She spoke, catching the attention of the boy next to her, "I could never see the stars from my window. But I used to imagine them looking exactly like this."

Suga laid back with his head next to hers. He smiled. She's such a sweet child and so easy to love. "I wish that Namjoon told us about you earlier," He said, "Maybe we could have gotten you sooner if we all knew."

"He didn't tell you?"

"Nope," Suga replied, "I never even saw that picture he has until we met you."

Nari's gaze dropped to the floor, "Oh. Was I bad, or something?"

"No, no, it's nothing like that," The boy shook his head, "You're fine, lovely, don't worry about that at all. It's just...Namjoon isn't the kind of person to be wasteful with his emotions, you know? He couldn't take you home the day that you met, and he knew it would just hurt the both of you more if he kept chasing after something he couldn't have yet, so you had to be his secret for a little while."

"I always kinda wondered about that," The girl replied with a hint of sadness in her voice, "If he really loved me that much, then why didn't he visit? Why did he leave me alone?"

Suga turned so he was laying on his side, looking directly at her, "Oh, don't misunderstand me, Nari. He never stopped loving you. There's so much that's finally starting to make sense now; like why he read so many parenting books and how he always made sure to look in the kid's section whenever we went to the store. Little stuff like that."

"He did that for me? Just for me?"

"Of course," The boy smiled, "He paid for everything you needed at the orphanage too. Every time you went to the doctor, all of your school supplies, and even your yearly clothing allowance, that was him. Namjoon made sure that he was taking care of you even though he couldn't see you."

Nari fell silent for a moment. His kindness ran so much deeper than she could have ever imagined. Finally she spoke, "I wish I could remember him more. That's the least I owe him when he's done so much for me."

"You don't owe him anything, Nari," Suga answered softly, "Love isn't a debt, it's a gift. All you can do is accept it."

The girl let out a deep breath, "You're so wise, Yoongi. Thank you."

"You're welcome, lovely," He replied cheerfully, "I'm always here for you. Don't forget it."
