Blow Kisses (키스 키스)
"Hey, Nari?" The librarian poked her head into the girl's last period classroom, "I got a new shipment of books in, do you want to help me unload them?"
The girl shook her head and put the final notebook in her bag, "I'm sorry, I would, but the boys are coming today. I need to go home and be there for them. Besides, I thought we weren't allowed to stay after school today?"
"Come on," Ms. Bradley begged, "I really need your help with this. Please please please? And I have a present I got for you. It won't take long, I promise."
Nari sighed and zipped up her backpack, "Alright, fine. But it has to be quick."
The halls were completely vacant as the two made their way to the library. Nari wondered what could be so crucial that she had to stay after school on an important day like this, and for the whole school to practically shut down.
"Hey there, darling."
"Namjoon!" The girl bolted for the door to the library and threw herself into the boy's arms, "You're here! You're really here!"
The boy laughed, hugging her tightly, "Of course I am! I told you I would be, didn't I?"
"I love you! More than anything!" Nari kissed his cheek as she flung her arms around his neck, "I've missed you so much."
"Princess! Where's my hug?" Taehyung burst through the door, with his bright blue hair flopping playfully over his eyes.
Nari embraced the boy eagerly, giggling as he left little kisses all over her face like raindrops, "Tae! You're getting lip gloss on me."
"I know, I know, I'm sorry," He apologized and rambled excitedly, "We had to get on the plane like as soon as we finished the interview and then I slept for the entire 10 hours-gah that doesn't even matter anyways," Taehyung gently cupped the girl's cheeks as he placed a final kiss on her forehead, "I'm just so happy to see you. I love you, Nari."
"Hey! Can you guys come help me please?" Suga stumbled through the doorway carrying an armful of gifts wrapped in brightly colored paper, "This isn't even half of it," His eyes lit up as he saw Nari, "Happy birthday, lovely."
"Shu-ger!" She wrapped her arms around his waist as soon as he put the packages down, "I missed you so much!"
Suga hugged the girl back and pressed his forehead against hers, lightly kissing the tip of her nose, "I missed you too."
"Is everyone else coming?"
"Sorry, it's just us," Taehyung replied, "But the rest of the boys made sure to send us with enough love for all of them."
Nari meandered over to the large pile of gifts on the table next to them, "Guys, this is a lot. I don't need all of this."
"But we want to give it to you!" The blue haired boy tossed her a light pink box, "Open this one! It's mine."
The girl tore open the wrapping paper as the three boys gathered around her, eagerly awaiting her reaction to whatever was inside. Nari gently lifted a silver tiara studded with brightly shining jewels from peach colored tissue paper. She had never seen anything so beautiful.
"Every princess needs a crown," Taehyung smiled, "I actually ordered this a little while after we adopted you, but it took a while to come in because I wanted the stones to be just right."
Nari looked up at him with bright eyes, "It's so pretty. I love it."
"There's moonstone and rose quartz," He gently took the tiara from her hands and placed it on her head, "You know what those symbolize? Eternal and unconditional love." The boy gave her a quick but loving peck on the cheek, "A knight never gives up on his princess and I won't ever give up on you, Nari."
The girl adamantly pushed back the tears forming in her eyes, "Thank you, Tae. I love you. But isn't this kind of expensive?"
"Darling, it's your birthday! Don't worry about money!" Namjoon laughed and handed her another present, "This one is from Jin and Jimin. They told me to tell you that love you very much and also Jin is disappointed that he didn't get to make you a cake. He promises that he'll do that as soon as we get back."
Nari reached into the blue bag and pulled out what looked like a scrapbook. She skimmed through the pages and saw Jin's signature polaroids, each of them captioned with a short description. The girl giggled as she saw one of her and Jin with their heads pressed together and faces stretched into bright grins.
May 5th. Nari and Jin. P.S. I love you♡
She smiled and turned the page, which was adorned with little mementos and souvenirs. This must be from Jimin. He always made sure to get her something from every place that they visited. Out of all of them, Jimin was the most thoughtful. The people he loved were always in the back of his mind.
"They spent all their free time working on it," Suga spoke up, "Jimin has been collecting souvenirs for you ever since we took you home. He's still got a bunch of them in his bunk on the tour bus."
Nari closed the scrapbook and held it tightly to her chest, "Tell them that I love it. Thank you."
She picked up a large envelope and saw that it was from Suga. The girl gently opened it and slid out a framed black and white photograph, overlayed with watercolors. A perfect pink and orange sunset reflected into the river below.
Nari carefully opened the small note that was attached to the picture frame. Little doodles bordered the notebook paper.
Lovely Nari,
Every day I thank the universe for giving me a gift as wonderful and priceless as you. Your presence brings so much love to my heart. I hope that you know how strong you are and how happy you make us.
Your prince,
Min Yoongi (Suga)
"I'm not really all that good at art," Suga sheepishly said, "But I wanted to make you something. The sunset really suits you, Nari."
"It's beautiful, Shu-ger," Nari gave the boy a grateful hug, "I love it so much." Her voice dropped to a whisper, "I thank the universe for you too, Suga."
Taehyung pushed a stack of CDs tied together with a ribbon across the table to her, "This is from Jungkook and Hobi. Namjoon told them that you were starting to listen to our songs so they made you a bunch of CDs with all kinds of music. They also wanted to apologize for not having the time to wrap it, they were working on it up until 5 minutes before we had to leave today."
Nari carefully untied the ribbon and picked up the first CD from the pile, labeled "J-Hope and Jungkook's Ultimate Bops" with a messy but recognizable portrait of the two of them as the insert to the case. The sloppy initials "JK" at the corner of the paper told her that it came from Jungkook's hand. She smiled. He always was good at drawing. The girl opened the case to find the title written neatly on the CD itself, as well as a tracklist on the back of the cover.
"Tell them that I said thank you very much," She looked up to the rest of the boys, "This is so thoughtful. I'm gonna listen to them every day."
Namjoon chuckled, "I'm sure they'll appreciate that, darling." He nudged a medium sized package towards her, "Oh, this one is just from Hobi. You know, the one I told you about."
"Dude! You told?!" Taehyung exclaimed, "That totally ruins it!"
"I'm sorry! It just kinda happened." The taller boy defended himself.
"It's okay," Nari laughed and opened her present, "I don't mind."
Just like Namjoon had said, several books were neatly stacked inside the box. She grinned as she picked up the novels that she had been secretly eyeing. J-Hope always seemed to know just how to make her happy. Nari noticed a card sticking out of one of the paperbacks and gently opened it to read the message inside.
Bunny,
I wish that I could be there with you today, but since I can't, I'll give you a little extra birthday gift. They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you more books. You are my hope, Nari. I love you so much.
Your hope,
Hobi
Sure enough, a couple bills totaling about 100,000 won were tucked into a small envelope. Nari smiled and closed the card. J-Hope's silent kindness and generosity never failed her. She looked to Namjoon, "Tell Hobi that I love him."
"I will, darling," He nudged one last package to her, "This one is mine. I hope you like it."
The girl opened her last gift to find a small stuffed animal. A rabbit that looked exactly like Sonia. Nari grinned and hugged the bunny to her chest, causing Namjoon's voice to appear from inside the fluffy object.
"I love you!" His prerecorded voice said cheerfully, "Happy birthday, darling. Here's to many more with a family that loves you more than anything."
"There's one from everyone," Namjoon explained, a small smile twitching at the corners of his lips, "I really hope that you like it."
She beamed at the older boy, "I love it so so much!" Nari squeezed the stuffed animal again, eager to hear all of their messages.
"I'll see you soon, sweetheart," Jimin's mellow voice sounded, "Remember to take care of yourself. I love you!"
J-Hope's was next, "Narrrrri-bun," He drew out the last syllable of her name, "I love you so much! The next time I see you I'll give you a biiiiiig hug!"
"Hey lovely," Suga's soft voice activated, "Don't be sad. I told you that I'd be your prince, remember? I love you very very much."
"I love you, little Nari. Don't worry, we'll be back soon!" The sincerity in Jungkook's words made the girl's heart grow warm. He didn't talk much, but he always made sure his words were true.
Jin's message was cheerful and bright, "Nari, I hope you know that you're not alone. We're always here for you, kiddo. I love you!"
"My princess Nari," Taehyung's excited voice came from the small stuffed animal, causing the girl to giggle at his surprisingly formal tone, "I don't want you to be sad, so I'll blow you a kiss. Ready? One, two, three!" A muffled kissy sound accompanied with a short breath came from the speaker, "Did you get it? If you didn't, just hold this bunny tight until we get home and I'll deliver a kiss to you myself. Your big brother Tae loves you very much!"
Nari embraced the boy next to her tightly, "I love it so much! I'll treasure this forever."
"You're welcome, darling," Namjoon happily hugged her back, "I was worried that you would get lonely since we're so busy, so I thought that maybe this would help you feel better. Just give her a hug when you miss us, okay?"
She let go of him and look around the table to the other boys, "Thank you so much for everything, all of you."
"You don't have to thank us," Suga insisted, "It's your birthday, lovely. You deserve to spoiled. At least a little more than usual, that is."
The door to the library opened and the girl turned her head to see Ms. Bradley carrying a tray of cupcakes with pastel colored frosting. Nari's face turned red, "Oh! I'm sorry Ms. Bradley! I didn't mean to ignore you," She got so distracted by the boys that she completely forgot about the librarian who had led her to them.
"Don't worry about it!" The woman replied with a smile and placed the food in front of her before taking a seat beside Namjoon, "I know how much you care about them. Besides, I brought some cake for you guys. Happy birthday, Nari."
"Do we have any candles?" Taehyung asked, "It's Nari's first birthday with us, we need to do this right!"
Ms. Bradley vigorously shook her head, "No candles! This is a library! You'll set off the smoke alarm."
"It's okay!" Nari cheerfully took a cupcake with lavender icing, "I have you guys here and that's all I need." She turned to Namjoon, "Wait, how did you guys even get here? Weren't you supposed to stop by the house?'
"Well, we had a little help," The boy answered, looking to Ms. Bradley beside him, "Hyo and your librarian here organized it all for us. All we had to do was show up."
The woman shook her head modestly, "Don't give me too much credit. All I did was give you guys a room and some food. I just wanted to make sure that you got a little bit of happiness here, Nari."
"Thank you so much!" Nari smiled brightly, "I am happy. More than I've ever been."
