Art (미술)

Nari took a deep breath and opened her eyes. She rolled on her back to face the ceiling above. The girl reached her hand to the sky, trying to grasp the stars of last night. Everything about it was so beautiful. Going back to reality would be such a letdown.

"Hey kiddo, whatcha doing?"

Startled by the noise, Nari sat up. Jin was at the doorway and motioned for her to come over to where he was. The girl stood up and carefully maneuvered her way around sleeping young men, including Jimin who had somehow rolled all the way off his mattress during the night.

"Wanna help me make breakfast?" The older boy whispered as soon as she was at his side, "I was going to wake up one of the other boys, but you're here anyway and I wanted to spend some more time with you."

Nari nodded shyly, "Okay. What are we going to be making?"

"American food!" He said triumphantly, "Waffles and bacon and cinnamon rolls."

"That sounds really good." She replied.

Jin smiled, "Oh it is, trust me." He headed off towards the kitchen, "Follow me kiddo, I'll get you suited up."

"Oh my god she looks adorable!" Taehyung squealed as soon as he came upstairs. He whipped out his phone, "Nari look here and smile!"

The girl managed a shy but genuine smile as she looked to the camera. Cooking with Jin had been a lot of fun. He was a good teacher who always encouraged her to work with him, not just stand on the sidelines and watch. However, what Taehyung was oogling about was that Jin had insisted that Nari borrow one of his aprons while they cooked...and what fit him most definitely didn't fit her.

"You're so cute!" Jungkook said and flashed a wide grin as he sat down at the table, "Be careful not to trip though. That is an awfully long apron."

Nari nodded and turned to Jin, "Is it okay if I take it off now?"

"Yeah sure, we're just about finished anyway." He added one final waffle to the pile and set the dish on the table, "Eat up, everyone. We'll need it." Jin handed Nari a plate, "Go ahead, kiddo. The best part about cooking is enjoying what you make with the people you love."

Jungkook gently helped the girl out of the car, and the two walked in comfortable silence to their mystery destination. Nari wondered what he had planned for today. Unlike the rest of the boys, Jungkook was quieter and more reserved. Their personalities were alike in that way.

They stopped in front of a large building. Jungkook opened the door for the girl and spoke shyly, "Namjoon said you liked books. I thought that maybe you would like it if we spent some time here, the biggest bookstore in Seoul."

Nari's eyes opened wide in awe as she stood in the doorway. Everywhere she looked there were books. They lined shelf after shelf as far as the eye could see. There were even balconies and an escalator to go up to another floor.

"This is so much bigger than the library at the orphanage." The girl mumbled excitedly, "I love it so much. Thank you, Jungkook."

"Really? You like it?" A wide smile spread across his face, "Then let's go!"

Nari meandered around the store, making sure that Jungkook stayed close behind her. She ran her fingers across the spines of the books and inhaled deeply. There's something about books that would always feel comfortable to her. At the orphanage there was a small library, if a few shelves of dusty beaten up books could be called that. In fact, by the time she was 9 she had read every single book in that room. When the outside world got too lonely, Nari could always count on the world of fiction and fantasy to complete her.

Although she enjoyed everything she read, fairy tales would always leave a special imprint on her heart. There wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed in a fairy tale. The prince got his princess, the evil queen was defeated, and the kingdom lived in peace once more. Nari remembered staring out the window in her room and pretending she was a princess waiting to be saved. She had to be patient, her prince would come for her one day.

The girl shrugged that thought from her mind, it was nothing but the daydreams of a lonely child. Besides, her inner self whispered, you have 7 princes of your own now.

"What kind of stories do you like, Nari?" Jungkook asked.

Nari paused for a moment, "Fairy tales." She said bashfully.

"You're too cute." Jungkook grinned and lightly touched her shoulder, "Follow me. I'll show you some."

The pair swiftly weaved in and out of almost endless shelves before the boy stopped at one specific section. He reached up and grabbed a thick book with elegant swirly gold designs on the cover.

"Brothers Grimm complete fairy tale collection." He explained and handed it to the girl, "They wrote Cinderella and little red riding hood, that kind of stuff. Is this okay?"

Nari smiled, "Uh huh. This is exactly what I wanted. What kind of books do you like, Jungkook?"

"Hmm," The boy thought for a minute, "All kinds, I guess. I haven't had a lot of time to read recently though, so I've mostly been into manga and comics. I really like the art."

"You're an artist too, right?" She asked, remembering the tree that he had painted in her room.

Jungkook managed a laugh, "Kind of. I like to draw, but I don't really have the time to do it. I was going to paint a sunset or a moon or something above your bed, but I got so caught up in working on the tree that I didn't have time. Sorry about that."

"You can still paint it if you want," Nari said shyly, "Maybe when we get home?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The girl looked up from her book and smiled as she watched the older boy slowly create a crescent moon above her bed. Jungkook had endless talents, it seemed. His hands worked magic that few were capable of in this world.

"Hm? Do you need something?"

Jungkook's voice shook Nari back to reality and she blushed, realizing that he caught her staring, "N-No. I just like watching you work, that's all. Sorry."

"It's okay," The boy laughed as he continued to paint, "I don't mind. I just hope that it turns out well."

"I know it will," She said assuredly, "Everything you make is beautiful. And uh, Jungkook? You're the youngest, right?"

He nodded, "Yup. I'm 21."

"How old were you when you joined BTS?"

"Hm, around 13," Jungkook thought for a moment, "Yeah, I think that's right. We debuted in 2013 and trained for a couple years before that."

Nari tried to imagine a middle school aged Jungkook, "Wow. That's not much older than me."

"Yeah, you're right," The boy agreed, "I was probably around your age when I first started in the entertainment industry too. Why do you ask? Do you want to be an idol?"

She vigorously shook her head, "No way! I mean, everything that you guys do is really cool...but I could never. It's not for me."

"Good." Jungkook said, which surprised Nari a bit, "It's a hard industry and I would hate to see someone sweet like you get caught up in all that at such a young age like I was. You should just focus on being a kid, you know?" He paused, realizing the words he just said, and gave the girl a sheepish grin "Oh, sorry. I got a little carried away, didn't I?"

"It's alright," She mumbled, "I know you're just looking out for me." Nari looked to the almost finished mural above her bed, "I really like it. Thank you, Jungkook. But who are the people on the moon?"

The boy smiled and gestured to the silhouettes of two people sitting comfortably in the curve of the crescent moon, "Isn't it obvious? This is you," He tapped the smaller figure and then the larger one, "and this is me. Do you like it?"

"I love it!" She exclaimed, "It's so pretty!"

"I want you to help me with the last part. Come here on the bed, okay?"

Nari shyly obliged and kneeled next to him on the soft mattress. Jungkook dipped his brush in a jar of purple paint and carefully painted his hand before pressing it on the wall next to the moon, leaving a perfect handprint behind. "Your turn, little Nari." He said softly.

The girl couldn't help but smile as Jungkook's paintbrush tickled her fingers, covering them in violet colored paint. When he was done she firmly pressed her hand to the spot on the wall right below his and stepped back to admire their creation.

"Yours is so big," Nari commented, noting the size difference between the two handprints

"That's cause you're little," Jungkook replied with a laugh and tenderly brushed the hair away from her bright eyes...forgetting that his right hand was covered in paint, "Well damn. Sorry, I might have gotten purple on your glasses. Here, I'll fix it." He gently plucked Nari's glasses off of the bridge of her nose and wiped them with the blanket next to him. Unfortunately, that just made the paint smear even worse.

"It's okay," Nari tried to assure him, noting the quickly rising panic on his face, "I can get it. And, um, you kind of got paint on my sheets now. I don't think Namjoon is going to be too happy when he comes home."

Jungkook sighed, "You're right, I should get this cleaned before he sees it. I guess this big brother stuff is gonna take a little getting used to."
