2 years went by since the shooting of Tommy Roberson. But the shooting was still fresh in the back of everyone's minds.

Louis most of all was reminded of that night nearly every time he laid down. Ben sometimes wasn't  in the dream. Louis dreamed he was the one holding the gun.

All day Louis was haunted by the thought of how he could have  saved him by forcing Ben to go home or how he could have told Ben to stay in the car.

The only way Louis could get a good night rest is by heavily drinking to ease his mind. 

Eventually the liquor stopped helping and Louis had to find a way to ease himself. He decided to go see Tommy. Just seeing him breathing would ease his mind.

It wasn't hard to find Tommy. He was in the newspaper nearly every week.

At the time of the shooting Tommy was just accepted into MIT but he could not afford to attend. But after the shooting Tommy received a lot of scholarships . The town newspaper made sure to put Tommy as the headline of the news,  accepting town scholarships or shaking hands with a police officer or the major of Greenleaf. It was an attempt of calming everything down in Greenleaf. Tommy's scholarships  and donations added up to be over $350,000, his parents insisted on him paying his tuition with the money. Even though they lived in a small two bedroom townhouse in a bad neighborhood.

Louis rented an townhouse right beside Tommy's parents  townhouse. Since Tommy took off every summer and stayed at his parent's house, Louis saw him everyday during the summer . Everyday he would make some way to see him.   Louis slept good those days . Louis never feared that Tommy would realize who he was because Tommy never saw his face during the shooting. The only person that could pen point him was his ex girlfriend Amanda, that dumped him after she found out that he was going to be in a wheelchair his whole life.

Tommy became a town hero. Above all, Tommy became Louis' hero.

When the fall semester began at Tommy's college and Louis did not have Tommy's presence, so once again he Louis could not rest.

One night Louis wondered if Ben thought about Tommy. He wondered if he could sleep. He wondered if he would take it all back if he could. 

Louis could not help but remember that empty look on Ben's face while he was still holding the gun pointed at Tommy's bloody chest . Louis couldn't shake it,  he had to find Ben.
