CHAPTER TEN: DON'T FALL IN LOVE

When you walked out of your bedroom the next morning to saw a huge man standing in the kitchen, wearing a robe and was making some eggs for breakfast.

"Hey" you looked at the man "Who are you?" he asked "Y/n, this is Luther, my brother. Luther this is Y/n. Elliott's daughter" Five introduced you and Luther to each other.

"Well, hello Luther, nice to finally meet you" you smiled "Nice to meet you too" Luther said.

You shook hands before you walked over to make some coffee.

As soon as you have made some coffee, Five quickly walked over, pouring himself a cup of coffee before taking a huge sip "Mmmm. Will never get tired of this taste" he said before he went back to his spot as him and his two brothers started talking about last night

"No, no, no, I don't understand. They keep following me" Diego said as Five was standing leaning against a wall, with one hand in his pocket and his other hand was holding a yellow mug while you were sitting down.

"Wait, who?" Luther asked not looking up from pan in front of him "Those Dutch sociopaths" Diego said "They're Swedish, you idiot" Five said and you giggled.

"Who are you laughing at?" Diego asked "You ya moron" you said "Five, you better get your girlfriend before I take a knife to her throat" Diego said "Eww, what the fuck" you said as you made a face in disgust.

"She's not my girlfriend and from what's worth, you deserved it" Five said "That's what I thought" you said "Watch your mouth" Diego said "Just shut up already, we have worse problems here. Those people are hired guns paid to eradicate us before we do any more damage to this timeline" Five said "Wait, how are you damaging the timeline again?" you asked "I told you already, simply by being here, where we are not supposed to be. It's dangerous being in a timeline you don't belong in, if you're not careful, you can make so many mistakes that you will screw up the timeline so much that it will have dangerous and big consequences. So dangerous that it can end with you never being born or the end of the universe" Five explain and Diego turned to him "Yeah, but why now? I mean, I was..." he said snapping his fingers "Fine for three months until you showed up" he said, pointing a finger at him.

"I was here for a year and no one messed with me" Luther said, looking at Five while Diego put his arms out.

"Even if it was my fault, which it isn't, we only have six days before the end of the world, and the closest anyone's gotten to Dad was that driveway at the consulate" Five said.

"Well" Luther said before he let out a sigh "That's not exactly ture" he said and the three of you looked over at him.

"What do you mean?" Five asked "I saw him" Luther said before he began to tell the story about after he landed in the alley, he took a bus and went a long way to the academy. How he got inside and people were in the living room, gathered in circle around Reginald. How he told Reginald that he was his son. But Reginald said that Luther wasn't his son. Luther then explained to Reginald how he had adopted seven children in 1989. Luther had then tried to convinced Reginald by telling him that he knew about the base on the moon and Reginald's experiments with monkeys. Reginald had then humiliated him.

"That's pathetic" Diego said as Luther sat down at the table where Diego was sitting "Yeah, well, at least he didn't shank my ass" Luther said as he began eating the scrambled eggs "No, bro, he shanked your heart" Diego said from his seat that was across from where you were sitting.

"So what are you whining about?" you asked "I'm not whining" Luther said "Your lips are moving and you're complaining about something. That's whining" you said before you pointed on Five "Five was in the apocalypse for years. Having being through shit and pain. Almost died many times. You don't hear him bitching about it" you said and Luther rolled his eyes while Five smiled as he sat down next to you, holding the first aid-kit.

He grabbed your left arm causing you to furrow your brows as he opened the first aid-kit.

"What are you doing?" you asked as he grabbed slowly and gently the bandage before he started unraveling it.

"You don't need to" you said "Yeah I do, it can get infected" he said as he continued cleaning the cut.

"I thought there we shouldn't--" "We shouldn't" he cut you off "But that doesn't mean that I can't still help you with your cut, beside it is kinda my fault you got hurt so this is the least I can do" he said.

He then grabbed some clean bandage before he wrapped it around the part of the arm where the cut was.

He then grabbed a pair of scissors before he cut the wrapped and tucked it into a part of the wrap.

 "Is that my bathrobe?" Elliott asked as he walked into the kitchen and saw Luther wearing his bathrobe "No" Luther said with his mouth full as he was looking at Elliott.

"That's why it look so familiar" you said as you looked at the bathrobe.

"Look, who cares what he shanked? He knows something about time travel" Five said as he was slowly and gently rubbing the rag that was drip in peroxide on the cut causing you to flinch "Sorry" he said.

"That is a bit insensitive, Five, he's still your father and he still has an impact on the lot of you" you said.

"Um...Wait, why don't you just do your thing and, uh, time trave us out?" Elliott asked and Five let out a scoffed before getting up "Anyone care to explain" he said as he got up "First time he tried, he got lost in the apocalypse" Luther said as he stared at Five who walked over to the sink.

"Second time, he ended up without hair on his balls" Diego said "I could have gone my whole life without knowing that and now I think it's stuck to my mind, so thank you Diego" you said sarcastically.

Five glanced at you before he rolled his eyes "Last time I tried, I scattered my family across three years in Dallas, Texas, possibly triggering a doomsday" he said as he poured himself a cup of coffee before he turned to Elliott "Anymore questions, Elliott?" he asked and Elliott shook his head "Uh, no" he said.

"So that's why you are not trying again because you messed up like...Three times" you said "Thought I had learn something from the second time, I was wrong" Five said and you let out a chuckled.

"You're not funny Y/n" Five said "Oh yeah, why don't you go jerk off in the bathroom with the shrimpy you have?" you asked "Why? You want to see it or something?" he asked as he gave you a flirting look.

"I'm gonna puke" Diego said "In your dreams you little preppy boy" you said "Good now, shut the hell up" Five said.

"Can we get back on topic now?" Luther asked.

"You're missing the big picture. Dad is the ringleader of a sinister cabal that's planning to kill the president" Diego said "A cabal?" Luther asked "Ignore him" Five said before he turned around to his brothers "Look, the way I see it, we only have one option" he said "Oh, yeah? And what's that?" Luther asked "It's time to get the Umbrella Academy back together" Five answered.

"Hell, yeah. Family meeting" Diego said "Okay then, can one of you get Allison, please?" Luther asked before eating another spoonful with eggs.

"You two still a thing?" Diego asked, looking at Luther who tilted his head and Diego leaned forward "Do we need to talk?" he asked "No, she's married" Luther said "Woah. Dude, that's rough" Diego said "I can handle it" Luther said and chuckled before eating another spoonful with eggs.

 "That must hurt on you" you said "Well, all you have to worry about is Five getting married to a mannequin" Luther said and you rolled your eyes.

"Wait, I thought you were siblings?" you asked before you looked at Luther "You have something with your sister, eww that is gross" you said "We're not biological. We're all adopted, none of us are related by blood" Luther said and you nodded.

"But can you imagine waiting or looking for the person you love and then find out they are with someone else" you said before you took a sip of your coffee.

"I'll get Allison" Five said as he put down his mug before he looked at Luther "Can you get Vanya without, uh, squeezing her to death?" he said "I'll try" Luther said.

"You wanna come?" Five looked at you "It's okay. I'm gonna stay with your brothers, making sure they don't hurt my dad" you said "Okay" Five nodded "I will be right back" he said before blinking away.

"Wait! D--Uh...What should I do?" Elliott asked "Prepare for company" Diego said.

Lila entered The Handler's hotel room before she slammed the door shut.

"Did you set me up?" she asked angry as she looked at The Handler "Sweetie, really?" The Handler said "Those Nordic shitwits? You said they were Commission. You said they were on our side. Well, I was in the process of executing our mission, my mission that you gave me, and they got in the way" Lila said "Oh, my" The Handler said "And now my cover's blown. Five wants to kill me and I don't know what the hell it is you're after" Lila said.

The Handler looked up at Lila "Did you bring me what I asked for?" she asked and Lila took out Diego's knife from her dress before she threw it on the table "Here. Diego's knife" she said.

"Sit" The Handler said as she picked up the knife "No" Lila said "Yes, you're bleeding, and all that rage is bad for your complexion. Sit" The Handler said as she put the knife back on the table.

"Fine, but I'm not done being mad at you" Lila said as she sat down on the couch next to The Handler "You're right" The Handler said as she got up and she picked up a small bottle with alcohol before she sat down next to Lila "I have been lying to you" she said before she poured some alcohol on the cut on Lila's arm "Commission...has no idea...that we're here" she said "So, what are we doing here?" Lila asked as The Handler started cleaning her cut with a rag "We are...making something right...that has been wrong for a very, very long time" she said before she got up and grabbed a bandage "Just about done with your riddles, Mum" Lila said as The Handler walked back to the couch and sat down next Lila before she covered Lila's cut.

"Oh, are you just about done now? You're done a couple missions, now you know everything? Huh? Is that it? Huh? Big Lila, all in charge, not trusting her mother, her mother who yanked her out of that horrid little slum, her mother who rescued her from those gin-addled, neglectful parents, her mother who taught her how to live, how to love, how to survive?" The Handler asked "You just said you lied" Lila said "You lied to them and they lied to me and everybody lies to everyone else. Grow up, buttercup" The Handler said before she slapped the bandage on Lila's arm "Ow" Lila said and The Handler sighed.

"If I thought you needed to know the truth, I would've told you the truth, but you didn't, and so I didn't, and everything worked out just fine" The Handler said "No, it hasn't. I lost Five" Lila said "Is he dead?" The Handler asked "No. But he kicked me out of his merry little band" Lila answered.

Lila then noticed something on The Handler's forehead "Uhg. Your wound is weeping" she said "Oh" The Handler said as Lila gave her a tissue "Oh, my dear, that...that's not a problem at all" The Handler said as she hold the tissue to her forehead "Why no?" Lila asked "Well, because..." The Handler said as she got up before walking over to a table "I have a very busy scheduled for us" she said with a smile.

"Oh, by the way, Five has a new girlfriend who is a actually human being" Lila said and The Handler looked at her "He does?" she asked and Lila nodded "Who?" she asked "Some girl name Y/n Gussman" the Handler's eyes widened when Lila said that name.

"Y/n Gussman" she turned to her daughter who nodded "Yeah, she is helping Five together with her dad. Her and Five seems pretty close" she said "Interesting" The Handler lightly nodded her head.

Some Jell-O that Elliott had made was standing on the coffee table as Diego, Luther, you and Vanya were all sitting in the living around the coffee table.

"You okay?" Diego asked you "I'm fine, Diego" you said "It just I don't want to get murdered by my brother because you passed out or get hurt again" he said "I'm fine. But thanks for caring" you said. 

Then your dad started talking about was talking about Jell-O which cause you to roll your eyes.

"Y'all know, Jell-O used to be delicacy. You know, in order to make it, you gotta boil down a whole mess of hooves...you know, horse, cows, pigs, it doesn't matter. But not everybody has a mess of hooves just lying around. It wasn't until, uh...a couple of sassy New Yorkers figured out how to dry it out so that the rest of us could have a...a chance to enjoy this ambrosia" Elliott said "If we have some, will you shut up?" Diego asked "Maybe" Elliott said before he picked up a spoon and a bowl for Diego "Here" he said, scooping up a large portion for him causing Luther to make a weird face in disgust.

"How are you feeling?" Luther asked as he turned to look at Vanya, trying to get his attention away from the food.

"Pretty shitty, to be honest" Vanya said "Where would you say you are on a scale from one to....ending all life on this planet?" Diego asked as he was flipping his knife with his hand.

"Really?" Vanya asked, looking at him and Luther leaned forward a bit "Diego, put the knife away, you idiot. She's fine" he said "The last time I saw this one. She had me suspended midair, sucking the life out of me with energy tentacles" he said before he pointed his knife at Luther "I think I'm allowed a little time to process" he said as he leaned forward.

"Oh, I would love to see an energy tentacle" Elliott said "Not now, dad" you said.

"I don't remember what I did, but I'm sorry...if...if that means anything" Vanya said "It does" Diego said as he placed his arm back down on the armchair "Just going through a lot right now. There's this...girl that I like. I thought she liked me, but turns out that she's..."

You could see on Diego that he felt betrayed in what Lila did. You could see that he actually had feelings for her.

"I'm so sorry for that Diego" Diego looked at you and you smiled sweetly to him, showing him you actually cared.

"Well, I can see why Five is all head over heels for you" Diego said "He's not" you said "Don't believe me?" Diego asked "He's only here to fix the world, just a mission" you said "We never knew Five well, as a kid, not after he left and got stuck in the future, but we do know that ever since he got back and met you, he hasn't been the same. You're special to him, Y/n" Diego said.

"I doubt that" you said "Listen Y/n. We grew up together, we didn't always get along. Actually most of the time we didn't. But one thing we knew for sure was that Five was...different. Even before he ran off, he was always different. He wasn't like the rest of us. He wanted answers to everything. He wanted to prove everyone wrong, especially our father. But one of us ever really understodd what he was looking for" Diego paused, giving you a moment to absorb his words.

"But you....You changed him. We've never seen him care about someone the way he cares about you. You bring out something in him, something none of us ever could. You make him...softer. More human. He's not just the Five we knew growing up anymore. You've made him better" he said.

His words made you freeze. You felt a blush creeping up your cheeks, and your heart did this weird little flip-flop in your chest. The idea that you might be special to Five...it was almost too much to believe, but it warmed you in a way you hadn't expected.

You smiled to yourself, a soft, private smile, feeling something bloom inside you that you hadn't felt in a long time.

Diego's words echoed in your mind, making you feel hopeful and confused all at once. Five might actually care about you, and that thought made your heart race in a way you wasn't entirely sure how to handle.  

Then the sound of a door opening and the sound of Allison letting out a laugh was heard.

"Oh, thank God" Luther said before you all got up "Is anyone here? Hello?" Allison said as you, Vanya, Luther and Diego walked over to the railing.

"Le petit mort, le petit mort" Klaus said "What? You don't speak French" Allison said "It's 'the little death'" Klaus said.

"Oh, wow. Look at this old stuff" Klaus said before the three looked up to see Diego, Vanya and Luther at the top of the stairs by the railing.

"Oh, wow. I know this is impossible, but...did we all get sexier?" Klaus asked and waved up at them.

"Vanya" Allison said, looking up at Vanya "I can't believe I have another sister" Vanya said with a smile before, she, Diego and Luther all walked down the stairs, meeting the three.

You knew that the family would be happy seeing each other again after not seeing each other in a very long time and thinking the other had died.

"I missed you" Allison said, looking at Vanya "Thank God someone did" Vanya said before she chuckled softly and Allison chuckled before Vanya put her arms out, taking a step forward before the two hugged each other.

Klaus put his hands on Diego's face while Diego put his hand on the side of Klaus' neck "Oh, you are drunk" Diego said "Yeah. No, just a little...just a few..." Klaus said before he turned to Allison and Vanya who was still hugging "Oh, that's so sweet" Klaus said as he walked over to them "No. Jesus" Allison said while Vanya giggled as he wrapped his arms around them.

"Hi" Vanya said "Hey, Vanny" Klaus said and kissed her on the top of her head.

You looked at Five who was standing just off to the side, watching the reunion unfold. Without thinking you walk down to him before you wrap your arms around him in a hug. It felt natural, comforting in a way you hadn't expected. What surprised you even more was that he didn't pull away, instead he hugged you back.

"Glad you're back" you said softly as you pulled away, feeling a little lighter just from his presence.

Five gave you one of those rare soft smiles of his, the kind that made you wonder what was really going behind those sharp eyes.

"I think I better make some more coffee" you said and he nodded.

You then turned before going up to the stairs and to the kitchen.

Five then looked at Klaus "Klaus. Is Ben here?" he asked "Oh, uh...no. No, unfortunately, ghosts can't time travel" Klaus said.

"Let's get started" Five said before he walked up the stairs.

"So, Vanny, what's new?" Klaus asked as he followed Vanya upstairs.

"Hey, Diego" Allison said, looking at Diego who just turn to her "Can't say hi to nobody?" she asked "Hi, Allison" Diego said annoyed before he walked upstairs "What was that?" Allison said "Hi, Allison!" Diego said louder "Thank you!" she said.

When Five reach the last step he saw you walking out of the kitchen.

But as you walked farther into the living room, you stumble over something which caused you to almost fall but Five caught you by blinking over to you.

"Easy" he said and you let out a chuckled as you pressed your nose against the side of his face. You could hear his heart thumping rapidly in his chest.

"I'm fine Five, really" you pulled away from him and his hands moved from your waist, before he place his right hand on your cheek and his left hand on your back.

"I just lost my footing and forgot to see where I walk" you said as you and Five looked at each other.

"You are still a little exhausted after the fight last night" he lifted his free hand to your face to examine you. The small cut on your cheek was almost gone. But your face was still lovely.

Five smiled before he pressed his forehead against yours. Even so you were not alone in the room, you felt like it.

What was wrong with him? He tried to pull away but it was like a thread pulled him even closer to you. He have never felt like this for anyone.

As you felt Five's forehead on yours, it felt safe and warm, it felt right. You got a weird but wonderful feeling in your body. 

There was a small part of you, saying that this was wrong, the two of you had just talk that it was wrong, he was a thirty-seven-year old man and you were fifteen, so this was wrong therefore he decided to pull away before you both could enjoy it more.

No one has ever see Five this way, so vulnerable before, he wasn't able to trust anyone with this, not even his own siblings, no one, except you, 'cause everything with you always remained easy. The trust, the love, the vulnerability and feelings were so natural with you and the same went for you.

Even when you met he wanted you to leave him alone. He had grown to find a weird sense of comfort from your soft, slightly accented voice and personality. He would ignore the fact it made his heart ache and yearn for your attention.

What the hell is wrong with him?

He couldn't answer that no matter how many times he'd ask he wouldn't have an answer. No connections. He internally reminded although he already seems to be in to deep to back out now. Your gentle touch sent shivers down his spine.

But this was wrong. He is a thirty-seven-year old man in his sixteen-year-old body and you're a fifteen-year-old girl. It would be wrong and that is one of the big reason you and him can't happen. You can't fall in love.

Maybe if you were older and if you were back in 2019 then maybe.

Five's siblings stared in shock and with their eyes a little widened.

The family still couldn't believe that their relentless, sarcastic and cold brother could stare with hope and light at someone.

But they could see that Five cared about you a lot and you cared about him a lot too.

They have never seen Five acting so soft and caring for anyone else but himself, he was such an asshole when they were kids. You really must be special to get someone as tough and cold hearted as Five Hargreeves to act soft and kind. You must really mean a lot to Five.

"Woah, I didn't think Five had it in him. He looks in love" Klaus said which caused both you and Five to pull away.

"Aww, our little psycho got himself a girlfriend" Klaus said with a smile.

"So this is all of them?" you looked at the siblings "Yeah, that Klaus and Allison" Five pointed at the two "Guys this is Y/n Gussman" he said.

"Are you Five's girlfriend?" Klaus asked "What?" your and Five's eyes widened "No, no" you both shook your heads "She is just someone that is helping me. She is actually pretty smart" Five said "Nice to meet you two" you shook Allison's and Klaus' hands "Nice to meet you too" they smiled.

Klaus then pulled you into a hug like you were old friends. You looked at Five, confused but you still hugged Klaus back. He stepped back and looked you over, then glanced at his family. "Gosh, look at you! She's precious" he said, reaching out to fix your hair, his voice full of exaggerated affection, you couldn't help but smile at his playful energy.  

"Well, since this is kinda of a meeting, I will made some coffee for you all" you turned around before going to the kitchen.

Diego looked at Five who was watching you leave.

"You're not falling for this girl, are you?" Five didn't answer as he stared at you as you disappeared into the kitchen. 

"Five?" Diego asked and Five's eyes widened as he realized "Holy shit, I'm in love with Y/n" he said "I knew it, you have puppy eyeing her all the time" Klaus smiled.

"Isn't she fifteen?" Luther asked "Yeah" Five nodded "Have the two of you kissed?" Klaus asked "No" Five shook his head, even so that was a lie.

"No, you don't understand Five. She's too young for you" Luther said "Five, what the hell have you done? You should avoid what you're both doing" Diego said "Look it doesn't matter, we do what we want" Five said "Fuck her then" Diego said and everyone looked at him.

"She's too young for you" Allison said "No, it's not like that, beside I know that. We have just spend time together because she was helping me" Five said "Do you like spending time with her?" Klaus asked "What if I do?" Five looked at his siblings.  

"Yeah, but what you did today was so disappointed" Luther said and Five looked at him "You shouldn't keep it a secret, you should tell us about it because we're going to be worried, you don't know what you are getting yourself into" Klaus said "I know what I'm getting myself into" Five said "Do you love her?" Diego asked "No" Five shook his head.

"But you care about her?" Klaus asked "What if I do. Is that a problem?" Five glanced at his siblings "You're a pedophile Five, she is just a kid, you're an adult man. That is just gross" Luther said and Five glanced annoying at him.    

"Tell us more about what happened, and don't lie" Diego said "You're wrong in that part Diego. I can protect her the way I did to you guys" Five said and everyone looked at him "And yeah. I don't care that she leave because of my age, but I'm ready to die for her, so if any of you don't even care about my concern for her then shut up but believe me I don't like her because of her body, I like everything about her, I would protect her forever" Five blurted out.

But then he froze as he realized what he just said. 

"You tell us to stop messing with time, when you are doing it yourself" Luther said "What do you mean?" Five looked at him.

"We know that this is your hormones talking" Luther said "You are horny as hell because you have being all alone for years and never had someone, and Y/n is probably the first woman you met that you actually find attracted" Klaus said and Five rolled his eyes.

"But what if you let your hormones take over, you get too close with her, you sleep with her, knock her up and it ends with you not being able to protect her and the baby plus it will change the timeline" Luther said "Okay Luther, for the first, I'm not Diego or Klaus that can sometimes only think with their dick" Diego snapped his head at his brother while Klaus just laughed.

"The second, I know that and it's never going to happen. I'm not like that. The third Y/n knows about me. We know it's wrong and gross because of the age different and also because of the timeline. There is nothing going on between us. She is just the first friend I have ever had" the siblings widened their eyes.

"Yeah, I have a friend, someone that actually want to help me and be my friend, is that a problem for you guys?" Five glanced at each other his siblings "I'm just surprise that she wants to be your friend. It must be hard for you, you want to get your hands on that little body of hers, your pedophile" Diego said.    

"Shut it, Diego. Don't blame me for your girlfriend running away" Five snapped at his brother.

"Easy guys, this is supposed to be a family reunion, Five can love whoever he wants" Klaus said to Diego "I don't love her" Five snapped "Then he can have feeling and be attracted to--" "I don't have that either!" Five  said out loud.

"Just don't fall in love with her, for the first it's wrong because of the age different, and the second you can't because of the timeline, so don't fall in love" Luther said. 

"I don't feel anything for her. And if anyone say more about this I will break their arm" Five threated as he glanced at each of his siblings.

Then you enter the living room with a tray of some coffee "Here you go" you smiled before putting the tray on the coffee table.

"Okay, let's get started" Five said "Well, I had to go" you turned towards the door "Wait" Five blink over to you "Where are you going?" he asked "Out. I need to buy groceries and then I'm going to work" you said "Just stay and listen before going, so I don't have to repeat myself later" he insisted as you looked into his eyes. You were stubborn and you did tell yourself to not spend so much time with Five but just looking into his eyes made you re-think. 

"Fine" you let out a sigh while he let out a small smile.
