Chapter Thirty Two

^^ Dave ^^

Harv's POV

I feel like I'm going out of my mind right now!

We went to the police station earlier today, after being advised on what to do next by the Emergency Services Operator we had called.

Everything seemed a bit manic when we first arrived there, with all of us trying to get the same message across at the same time. The officer who greeted us when we arrived seemed a bit overwhelmed by it all at first.

After he had informed us we needed to slow down or he wouldn't be able to be of any help to us, we let Travis explain what he witnessed earlier at the college. We also told him of the lack of contact we are able to make with her, even now, hours later since she was taken.

Fuck, just the word makes me feel nauseous.

Once the police officer was all caught up on what we were there for, he instructed other officers to interview us all individually. I thought it was a bit odd at first. And I can't lie, at the start I got angry but he basically told me that everyone will have their own information, and it is easier to discuss that individually rather than how we were when we entered.

The only positive thing that seemed to have come from this is that Travis had remembered the van's plate numbers, as well as a rough description of it. With the information from the twins about their uncle being an escaped convict as well, while also being extremely worrying, was helpful in the long run.

But he hasn't been spotted anywhere since he got out.

And that's what scares me the most if I'm being honest.

If they couldn't find him when he was a wanted convict on the run, why would they now?

By the time we were finished at the station, we were given a list of tasks we could do to aid them in the search. The police were already in search of their uncle but had now updated and added to the information they were using.

They had gotten a copy of a new photo I had on my phone of Crys, explaining it will help with the search if they had an up to date image of her to look for.

Now that the van is being searched for, the photo and information on Crys were given, and an update on the escape case was finished with, we were now doing our part on searching for my girlfriend.

We were told that if we had as many eyes out as possible to aid in the search for them both, someone might see something and report it to back to them.

So that's what we were doing.

We went and made posters to hang up in every possible location we can find. All of them with the same information on them, details and photos of both Crys and Michael. We must have one or two hundred copies each right now.

I just split up from our group so we can go hang them all over town. The twins are going to the college and popular hangouts, Parker and Travis are going to parks, and our other friends are just covering everywhere they can think of.

I'm on my way to our gym to hang a few posters up before I continue on to any other places that might have remembered her when we went there.

Walking in the building, I had planned to just hang the posters up and leave. I haven't really spoken much since we all left the station, besides occasionally asking about hanging a poster up. I need to keep it together, but it's taking everything in me not to get angry or just cry in frustration.

So keeping quiet is all I can do for now.

"Oi! Harv, what's going on?" I hear as a hand lands on my shoulder, though it barely registers in my mind. "I've been calling your name, is everything okay?" Lee's voice breaks through my thoughts.

Looking up to see his concerned face, I simply shake my head 'no' at him as I hand over a few posters for him to hang up, before continuing back outside. I need to get as many of these out as soon as possible, cover the town in them if I need to. Surely someone has spotted one of them, Michael has a pretty distinctive appearance, to be honest.

"Harv!" Lee's voice comes from behind me, as I was making my way through the door. "What the fuck is this?!" He growls out, pointing to the posters I handed him a moment ago.

Trying to keep it together, I just shook my head before attempting to walk back out again. I barely take two steps away from him before I'm slammed against a wall with his arm pressed into my throat.

"What the fuck has happened?!" He yells in my face, rage is clear as day on his face.

"What do you fucking think happened?!" I yell back, shoving him back as hard as I can. "Her fucking uncle kidnapped her at school, I'm doing whatever I fucking can to get her back!"

My self-control had officially snapped.

The woman I love more than anything has been taken away from me by someone that could potentially kill her. And that thought has been terrifying me, as much as I want to lie to myself about it. It is a very real possibility, he did kill her parents after all.

For all I know, she already is...

I can't give up, I won't! Surely he didn't take her just to kill her, he must have a reason for it after all.

"So unless you have any bright ideas on how to find psychos that have been in hiding after escaping prison, I need to put these fucking posters up around town. I have to find her, Lee." I mumble at the end, before heading towards the door again.

I still need to go to the park, her work, the library, and cover everywhere around the mall. It all just feels so hopeless though, surely he isn't stupid enough to show his face again anytime soon. Plus he didn't even take her himself as far as we can tell, he had these bulky men do it. The twins said he wasn't very muscular last time they laid eyes on him, so there was no way he was one of the people Travis described.

"I think I do actually." Lee surprises me, as I'm going to push the doors open.

Turning to look at him, my confusion must have been evident on my face as he gestures for me to follow him to his office. Walking behind him quietly, we sit down at his wooden desk in silence for a moment, just staring each other down.

"Okay, you need to understand that there is more to this than you can understand right now. But we need to head over to her work, Dave will be able to help us. Just keep police out of it for now, alright?" He asked, making no sense what so ever.

I agree with him though, despite my confusion, I'll do anything if it means we find her sooner.

********************

Arriving at The Karaoke Klub while it was fully packed with people was a bit chaotic, but Lee had security let us in with just the nod of his head. It was kind of weird, to be honest, but he does have a 'don't fuck with me' face going on right now.

I followed silently behind Lee as we made our way to the back of the club. My thoughts about all of this going all over the place, my anger had faded a while ago now. All that was left was sadness and helplessness.

I feel so useless right now.

Lee barged through the door without knocking. I simply stand to the side once we're in as Lee shut the door, locking it, and walking up to a bored-looking Dave.

"I need your help," Lee says in a deadly serious and calm tone.

"And why would I help you, hmm Lee?" Dave sasses back, looking his usual relaxed self.

I never knew these two knew each other, though that shouldn't be a surprise I guess. We haven't exactly been here all that long compared to people who live here permanently.

"Because it's about Crystal." Lee simply says.

It was apparently enough to gain Dave's attention though, seeing him sit up straight and his easy-going demeanour vanishes into a seriousness I'd never seen before.

"What about her?"

"Michael kidnapped her today, maybe seven hours ago now," Lee informs him.

The normally happy bar owner stands up suddenly with a look of pure rage on his face, then he does something very out of character.

He punches a hole into the wall closest to him.

"How the fuck did that happen?! We had it all worked out Lee!" He starts rambling, apparently forgetting that I'm watching all this from next to the door.

"I don't know. But we need to move quickly, I need you to access something for me." Lee continues, looking bored with Dave's sudden outburst. I stand there silently just watching them talk back and forth about my missing girlfriend, like a tennis match before I get fed up with it.

"Yeah, right, Okay th-" Dave starts to calm down before I interrupt him.

"What the fuck are you two talking about?! If you know of anything that can help me find her, tell me! Everyone we know is currently plastering her face around town, and you have me here being utterly useless." I yell, fed up of feeling out of the loop that they seem to be in.

They look over in my direction quickly, both had apparently forgotten or not realised I was in here with them. I watch as Lee sighs before turning back to address Dave again.

"They should know, we can't help without telling them more anyway," Lee explains to him with a sigh, before turning to face me again. "Call the twins over, the others don't need to know all of this, but they should."

Too stunned to argue with him, I give James a quick call and tell him that I'm at the bar with Dave, and how he might be able to help.

That's all they needed to hear for them to agree to come straight away.

Fifteen minutes later, there is a knock on the office door, but I don't look up from my spot of the couch, knowing who it is already.

The twins walk in giving Lee a confused look before they see me looking exhausted on the couch.

"So, what's going on?" James starts off, looking between all three of us.

I shrug my shoulders at him, tipping my head to the two other men in the room that have some explaining to do.

"Lee? Dave? Can you help us find our sister?" Jeremy questions them, desperation clear in his voice.

"We think so, that's why I dragged Harv here with me. We have a few things to explain first though." Lee says, sitting in one of the seats in front of Dave's desk.

"Go on then, let us hear it." Jeremy pleads, the toll this is taking on him clear as day.

"Well, the first thing you need to know is that Lee and I know each other already, very well actually. Along with Michael." He holds his hand up, quietening any possible questions before they can be asked. "Before we moved to this town, we were all part of an... organisation together. Michael went off the rails when his sister started dating your dad though, he eventually became almost deranged." Dave continues, before Lee cuts in.

"We hadn't been aware of how he treated Crys during her teen years, and we didn't know much back before he went to prison either. You need to remember how good he was at acting normal. When he tried to kill Crys that day, he killed your mother and father instead, and something officially snapped in him." Lee continued on, rubbing his hand over his face.

"Lee and I wanted out of what we were doing there since it was rather... unsavoury work. So the boss made a deal with us, an out with the side note of keeping an eye on your family. He apparently felt he owed that much to you guys since he failed to see one of his men becoming mentally ill. So we kept an eye on you occasionally while you were here, and he had men at the prison and in the police force to keep watch of your uncle." Dave sighed at the end, a look of guilt on both of their faces.

"This is all well and good to know, but what the hell has it got to do with what's happening right now?!" James asks, anger and annoyance clear as day on his face.

"Harv, does Crys wear that bracelet I gave her?" Lee asks, semi ignoring James' outburst.

"U-Uhh, yeah. She only takes it off in the shower, so she should have it on still." I answer, after thinking about it for a moment.

"This is why I wanted us here. Dave, I gave her one of the pocket bracelets. I need you to try and hack into the tracker in it, do you still have a system to do that?" Lee finishes, turning his attention to the surprised Dave.

What the hell?

He was tracking her?

"I do, but it'll take time. Maybe we need to make a call and get certain cops in on our knowledge. They can play it off as an anonymous tip?" Dave voices his thoughts, as he goes over to a locked door.

Watching as he unlocks it and pulls out a laptop from one of the shelves. He powers it up and starts typing away, while we all just sit there watching him confused.

"I'll make a few calls while you do that, here are the serial numbers for her bracelet," Lee explained, before passing Dave a piece of paper.

Half an hour later, and Lee walks back in after apparently being on the phone the entire time. The twins and I have just sat in silence, with the exception of calling our friends and checking in on how they're going with the posters.

"Okay, everyone!" Lee says, gaining our attention. "We can put the information in with an anonymous tip through old contacts, and he's also said that some of his best men will be available if we need them."

We all nod, not really sure what to make of all of this.

"Ah-huh! I've tuned into her bracelet, we'll have her exact location in five minutes!" Dave jumped up, relief and happiness covering his face.

For the first time in hours, I felt some hope fill my system.

We'll have you back soon Crys.

Please just don't be too late!
