Prologue Alfred's going away
In the heart of Gotham a small family owned dinner called Heartfelt dinner. It's considered a hidden gem in since not a lot of people know about it but it has some of the best food. And Alfred just so happen to know this fun fact. He became a regular rather quickly, so much so that he had become rather acquainted with the owners
*DING*
The fronts door opened and hit the bell on top of the door. In came a man, late 60's, in a dashing suit
???: Welcome to Heartfelt dinner we - Alfred!
Alfred: Hello Samuel
Samuel: It's good to see you again, have a seat we'll be there shortly
He walks up to one of the seats and sits down.
*DING*
Just as he sat down the door busted open and boy ran through. He was of average height and build and carried a backpack but placed it down on a table nearby. This was (Y/N) Heartfelt, Samuel's son
(Y/N): Sorry I'm late, I missed the buss.
Samuel: Don't worry about it, just go serve Mister Pennyworth
(Y/N): Sure thing.
He puts on an apron and a hair net while walking towards Alfred. He pulls out a small notepad and pen as he arrived at Alfreds table and got ready to take his order
(Y/N): How can I help you mister Pennyworth?
Alfred: I would like a medium rare stake with a side of easy over eggs.
(Y/N): Sure thing mister Pennyworth.
He quickly goes into the back into the kitchen, passing by his dad whose crowded in papers. Once inside he hears his mom approaching him
Carrie: So what does he want?
The sound of wheels tuning could be heard as his mother approached.
(Y/N): Oh he wanted.... he wanted...
He couldn't bare to see his mom in that wheelchair. Her hair has fallen out, nearly, and was as thin as a sheet of paper. Her brittle state was a horrifying sight for (Y/N) to see.
(Y/N): He wanted the same thing as always.
Carrie: My specialty!!
She tries to get up from her chair and (Y/N) goes to stop her but she slaps his arms away.
Carrie: I'm not dead yet you buffoon.
(Y/N): Who the hell still says buffoon?!
Carrie: Your cool mom does.
She successfully gets up from her chair and walks to the grill/stove.
Carrie: I'll be damned if I die leaving our best customer unsatisfied!
(Y/N): Don't say that!!
Carrie: Oh calm down would you, your old woman is gonna live till I get grandkids
(Y/N): First of all, you're not even that old. Second of all, I'm 17, so not happening!!
Carrie: First of all thank you so much darling. Secondly, how old was I when I had you?
(Y/N): I'm not you! I know something about responsibility.
Carrie: I wonder who you got that from? Couldn't be me or your dad, that's for sure.
Knowing he won't win an argument with her he decides to keep quiet and let her cook, even if she struggles to stand while doing so. After a short roast Carrie plates the meal beautifully then hands it to (Y/N)
Carrie: Remember keep your balance and make sure the plate isn't tilted. Don't want to ruin the plating, show is just as important as taste.
(Y/N): If I had a nickle for every time I heard that I'd be as rich as Bruce Wayne.
Carrie: But you're not, so cry about it, now don't keep Mr. Pennyworth waiting.
He walks out the kitchen and into the dinner where he sees Alfred talking with his dad. His dad seems enlightened by what Alfred was saying and looked like he was about jump out of his shoes.
Samuel: (Y/N) come here!!!!
He approaches the table with plate in hand, making sure it was perfectly straight. Placing it on the table, he then sits next to his dad opposite of Alfred.
Alfred: Thank you, (Y/N).
Samuel: (Y/N) mister Pennyworth has something very important to ask you.
(Y/N): What is it?
Judging from his dad's upbeat attitude, that changed in meer moments, he could tell it was good news. Which was a nice change of pace for him.
Samuel: Mr. Pennyworth has something to ask you.
He then looks at Alfred who puts his utensils down just to talk to him.
Alfred: I'll keep it brief! Master Wayne has made me go on vacation and seeing as the Waynes are a busy family I don't want them to overwork themselves with the addition of cleaning the mansion.
(Y/N): So you want me to clean a mansion?! Wayne manor! That big mansion that looks as big Gotham Private School?!
Alfred: I know I'm asking for a lot but I believe the pay makes up for it more than enough.
Alfred proceeded to slide a check on the table over to (Y/N) for him to see. Once he saw the check his brain had to hit a factory reset.
(Y/N): Sorry, Mr. Pennyworth, but I think you misplaced a comma.
Alfred: There are no mistakes, it is at its written on the check.
(Y/N): So..... a million, for being a buttler? For how long?
Alfred: Just the Summer.
He looks down at the check and then back to his dad.
(Y/N): What about you guys? You won't have help for rush hour.
Samuel: Sure it'll be hard but in the long run it'll be worth it.
(Y/N):.....
Samuel: We could really use the money.
(Y/N):.... I guess I could take the job.
Alfred: I'm glad to hear that, would you accompany to Wayne manor after I finish my food?
(Y/N): Uh sure, do I need to take anything or....
Alfred: Don't worry, you don't start till tomorrow, we're just going to have you acquainted with the manor.
(Y/N): Oh, ok. Just let me know when you're done.
Alfred: Of course.
After Alfred took his sweet time enjoying his food, who could blame him, he and (Y/N) left the dinner.
*Time skip*
On the drive to Wayne manor (Y/N) couldn't help but gawk at the BMW he was riding. The seats probably cost more than their dinner. His awe almost made him forget where he was living, as he rode past the crime redden streets of Gotham.
In only a couple of hours, after the shithole of Gotham, they made it to the pearly gates of Wayne manor. Alfred types the code 4-17-15 on the keypad left side of the gate. Soon after the gates opened up by themselves and Alfred goes into the home. As they pass the along the premises (Y/N) sees a large luscious garden with several birds in them.
(Y/N): Woah!
He flips his phone open and takes a picture.
Just a little over the garden he sees a river and, surprisingly, a dolphin jumps out of the water and dives back down.
(Y/N): Woah!
Another picture.
Soon after they make it to the steps of the manor where (Y/N) notices the most impressive thing by far.
(Y/N): On God this place is wheelchair accessible.
Another picture.
Alfred couldn't help but smile a bit, he loved seeing people in high spirits. A rare occasion when it comes to the people of Gotham.
Alfred: Come along now (Y/N).
They go through the doors, that probably cost more than the dinner, and he immediately noticed how clean things were. The hardwood floor looked cleaner than the cleanest plates in his home.
(Y/N): Wow.
Another picture.
Alfred: Your storage is gonna be full by the time I show you the rest of the house.
(Y/N): It'll be worth it.
Alfred continues to walk (Y/N) around the house, with him taking pictures of every room, and Alfred would explain what he would be doing as he worked. As they walked around the house (Y/N) couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, occasionally looking back every now and then just to be sure.
Alfred: Is everything alright?
(Y/N): Uh yeah it's just..... I feel uneasy. Like there's someone else here.
Alfred: Don't worry about that. Cassandra is untrustworthy of new people.
(Y/N): Ca-who?
He looks back and sees a girl standing behind him.
(Y/N): AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Alfred: Good afternoon Miss Cain.
She doesn't say anything and just stares at (Y/N) without making a single peep. If she wasn't as cute as she was it would definitely be creepy.
(Y/N): Uhm, hello.
She just stares at him still, without moving a muscle. He reached his hand out for a handshake but the girl still doesn't bother moving.
(Y/N): Is she..... alright?
Alfred: I'm afraid miss Cain knows little to no English. As appart of your job you will be teaching her English, along with several other things.
(Y/N): Doesn't sound too bad. What does she speak?
Alfred: Nothing. Miss Cain was never thought how to speak, not until recently, I've started teaching her.
(Y/N): What kind of kids is Bruce Wayne adopting.
Alfred: Let's move along.
(Y/N) and Alfred walk out the room and (Y/N) takes one look back at Cassandra to see her still staring at him. She still hasn't taken her eyes off him, it's getting creepy now. As they left the room Cassandra stepped out the room to keep looking at the boy. All the while she had done her analysis. His tense shoulders, forced smile, baggy eyes, and shaking hands.
NERVOUS
Meanwhile, Alfred had shown (Y/N) the rest of the house and chores that came with them. Soon they came into a room with many books and a single desk in the middle.
Alfred: Here is where you will be doing your daily activity. In this journal you will write what occurs in that day, please try and update this daily.
(Y/N): I'll try my best.
Alfred: Well with that over with it appears that you are aware of your duties. Any questions?
(Y/N): Yeah, uh, when can I visit my parents, incase of an emergency?
Alfred: If you have an emergency don't be afraid to drop your duties to help your parents.
(Y/N): Really?! Just like that?!
Alfred: They're your family, who am I to prevent you from seeing them. Any more questions?
(Y/N): No that's all.
Alfred: Then that concludes today. I'll give you a ride back home and pick you up tomorrow morning.
(Y/N): Sounds good.
(Y/N) turns to leave with Alfred but gets surprised once again.
(Y/N): SWEAT JESSUS!!!
The girl from before was, yet again, standing behind him.
(Y/N): Please don't do that.
Alfred: Good afternoon, Miss Cain. We'll get to your afternoon studies in a short while, I just need to return Master (Y/N) back home. Please understand.
Cassandra simply nods and backs away, so the both of them can leave, all while still keeping her eyes on (Y/N).
*Time Skip*
After an hour drive, Alfred had managed to return (Y/N) just as it turned night.
Alfred: I will come by tomorrow morning to pick you up. Please pack your things and be ready by then.
(Y/N): Wait just like that?! No training?!?!
Alfred: Sadly I don't have enough time to train you, this will do for now. Besides, how much damage could you position do in one summer?
(Y/N): That doesn't make me feel better.
Alfred: What really will, in Gotham. I'll see you tomorrow, Master (Y/N).
(Y/N): Goodbye, mister Pennyworth.
(Y/N) leaves the car and walks back inside, only when he knew he was safe was when Alfred decided to leave. Upon entering his home, which was above the dinner, (Y/N) noticed his dad fast asleep on the couch, his glasses hanging off his face. He grabs a blanket from a closet in the hallway and places it over his dad. Then, he walks to his room and as he does he catches a glimpse of his mom sleeping. She looked almost lifeless, her fraile body laying on the bed, he chest barely raising up through the blankets. (Y/N) then closes the door softly, to not wake up his mom.
After he makes it back to his room (Y/N) immediately dropped onto his bed face first, not even bothering to change. Although, as soon as he felt sleepy he was rudely awoken once again.
BANG
Gunshots immediately woke him up, he missed the grace period, now all he would hear until morning will be gunshots. He takes a peak outside and sees a car racing past him with a certain clown hanging out the car door.
Joker: Come on bats!!! It's like you want me to get away.
Then an armored tank like vehicle drive past his house chasing the Joker. (Y/N) just banged his head on the glass, hoping he would catch that clown already so he could go to sleep.
