You can barely hear the hum of the motorboat under all the noise; with birds squawking, insects buzzing and howler monkeys, that clearly have earned their name, howling in the distance. Nobody can deny it, the jungle is most definitely alive.

You quickly pass the other boat carrying the rest of team and wizz around the upcoming river bend at top speed. You feel the familiar excitement start to bubble in your veins again; another great expedition has truly begun!

Your exhilaration however doesn't last very long, because only a few moments later your boat begins to slow down and quickly comes to a full stop. What a frustrating turn of events; you were just beginning to enjoy the wind in your hair.

As it turns out, two giant trees have fallen into the river, most likely after a recent storm, and are now successfully blocking your journey onwards. The guide says not to worry, he is just waiting for the other half of the team to arrive before they can begin clearing them away.

With nothing better to do, you use your talents as a part-time freelance phytology specialist and scan the trees for something worthy of your attention. Eventually though, instead of a breakthrough discovery in the field of botany, you spot a sloth leisurely hanging in a tree. You're about to tap Emily on the shoulder to make her look at it too, just so you can tell her you found her boss hanging from a tree, when something else catches your eye. It sends a delightful little shiver down your spine.

Behind all that foliage it would almost be entirely invisible, except of course, to your own trained eye. It looks like a stone pillar covered by moss and leaves, with some sort of engravings that are just too far away for you to make out. Your gut tells you it might be an important clue that could help you find the temple, but you can't really be 100% sure from this distance.

Both boats have now stopped, and the rest of your team has gotten out to try and move the fallen tree out of the way, giving you a moment to contemplate if what you spotted is truly worth investigating. You could save them the trouble and just tell everyone we're getting off here so you can go take a good look at that pillar. Nevertheless, going off your planned route so early in the expedition is dangerous and could put you all at an immense risk.
