Everyone is ready and it's finally time to head into the thicket. You get to do the first ceremonial hack with a machete, effectively slicing the toquilla palm, blocking your path, in half. The most dangerous part of the expedition has begun!

Not much hacking is needed after that and you easily move into the rainforest, the dense vegetation being mostly over 100 feet above you. Except for dodging the occasional hanging vine and liana, you don't really have too much to do apart from following your guide. You can tell just by looking at the vegetation, this part of the jungle is older and wilder than the rest. People told you were crazy, and tried to convince you it was just a perfectly normal brown bear walking on his hind legs, but remember that Sasquatch you saw in Oregon a year ago? Yeah well, he would probably love to vacation in a place as primordial as this. It would be exactly what he needed after all those harsh winters up there.

As you continue to trek through jungle for what feels like hours, you notice the light rays shining through the canopy become weaker, signalizing that you'll have to stop soon and make camp. Also, even though its dry season, it's only a matter of time until the evening rain shower begins, so its best if you prepare for the night relatively soon.

Your guide halts everyone so he can come over to you, Emily and Salvador, to ask if you want to stay here for the night. Salvador agrees but still looks to you to make the final decision. You take a surveying look around, the sheer amount of bugs in this particular area are extraordinary and somehow you also can't shake the feeling that you're being watched.

Nevertheless, it's got big palm leaves to shelter you from the rain, decent enough space for everyone to lie down comfortably and most of all, you're already here.
