One String Attached

[A/N: This is an idea I had once, no stealing, I may use it as a story!]

When Lila Everly turned sixteen, the string was attached to her pinky.

What is the string? The string was something that connected people to the one person they literally can not live without. Be it a very close family member, or maybe a lover, or a best friend, it was the person who held their second heart.

Don't tell me you've never wondered why you only had one heart! It's because you shared your heart with another. You found out the day your string was attached and she couldn't wait!

But of all people.

Of all seven billion people on this beautiful stunning amazing planet, she had to share the string with Charlie Noah. The one guy she could not stand. He broke her sisters heart- her twin sisters heart! That was like breaking hers!

And now, he had to be the one with her other heart!

Look, he wasn't a player, he wasn't mean, if anything her twin was a bit to big hearted. He was popular and a bit flirtatious yet he was always kind. But text dumping-

Not. Cool. With. Her. At. All.

She had almost buried him with a shovel the last time they met! Not even a joke, they were at a garden shop and she was buying a shovel for their plants which had wilted- to get them out of the ground and plant new ones. And then he was there and-

Long story short, he should be showering her cousin Horus with gifts. He was her favourite cousin, and he was right but she really, really wanted to punch Charlie in his face!

Her string appeared over night- as did the one on her twins finger. Her twin got lucky- she was connected to her best friend Jadson, a sweet guy (who she not so secretly shipped with her twin) who was really good with maths and hilarious.

Worst part for her though? She can't take the thing off her! It was in her skin! And if she broke it one of them would die. She quite liked her life and didn't want to go so early, so she was stuck.

With him.

And she knew it was him because she saw him in her head when she touched it. The sting. That means it's him. So she flopped back into bed and fell asleep, determined to not deal with this or even think about it until tomorrow.

Just one more peaceful night.

Before she had to deal with the nightmare that was him.

Great. Fabulous. Absolutely-

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

______THE NEXT MORNING____
__________LILAS POV________

"Morning Lila!" My twin sister- Amaya- gleefully shook me gently. Light dripped into my room through the midnight blue blinds. I pulled up my warm red blanket and shoved my face into the pillow. But Amaya, like always was stubborn.

Why couldn't she just let me sleep?! Can't I just skip school? Just today? No?

"WAKE UPPPPPPPPPPP LILAAAA," My sister squealed in a pitch higher then a chipmunk who's breathed in helium. I jumped out of my bed and covered by ears. TO LOUD FOR MY PRECIOUS EARS!

"STOP! I'M UP! I'M UP!" I held my hands up.
Lila- 0, Amaya- 103382093021

I really needed a win against that girl.
"Amaya, I don't wanna go to school!" I whined. She chuckled but I placed my hands on my hips.

"Seriously? Girl it's not the end of the world! I'm over it already, you live way to much in the past," she nudged me. Oh no she did not just nudge me. But she gave me that look and I knew she knew exactly what she did.

"NUDGE NUDGE JUDGE FUDGE!" I yelled and nudged her so hard she feel onto the beanbag chair. She laughed though and got up. I loved calling her judge fudge. It was our thing, since ever since she was little, the other little kids would go to her and give her fudge, and in exchange she'd be a judge in different things. Be it arguments or a song off, give her fudge and she's the judge.

I tossed her her bag from under my desk. Because we used to forget our stuff- and by we, I mean me..- we put our stuff under the others bed. That way we play a game of catch in the mornings. We have tuns of little traditions like that, but my mind went back to the pressing issue.

I moaned and fell onto the chair she got off of. She took my computer chair, sitting on it like a physiatrist with her wide black frame glasses. She pushed her dyed red hair behind her ear and looked at me, our identical brown eyes the only similarity, since my hair was still a jet black and straight, not as curly as hers.

How come she was the pretty one? Gah! I sound envious like those people in the tv shows you wanna cringe at! I shook my head, I wasn't jealous of her, but she was unnaturally perfect. Unlike me- I probably have a lot of pimples which I don't bother to hide by make up. Though they're gone now, because my sister did something to me while I was asleep...

I LIKE BEING IMPERFECT. UNDERSTAND THISSSS AMAYA.

"What about this is annoying you?" Amaya questioned and I burst out laughing. Seeing my sister, my sister of all people trying to be serious just cracked me up!

"Oh goodness, I really just wanna come in when you become the worlds best judge and laugh at you being serious."

"You'd be put in jail."

"Well then it's a good thing you'd be a judge."

"Touché"

We grinned at each other as the door bell rang. My mum and dad were at work but they'd be back later on. Jadson's parents were going to pick us up today and drop the three of us to school. His parents were good friends with ours so they must be excited about the whole string attaching those two love birds.

"Your future husband is here~" I sung childishly. She rolled her eyes at me. She kept denying any feelings she had for him. But my ship will sail. MY OTP HAS TO SAIL.

"Hopefully your sense is with him. Oh wait, you don't have any." She retaliated.

"Ouch. You know, I think you just gave me a third degree burn" I pressed a hand to my chest in melodrama. "I'm so proud!"

"Gentlemen, stop the chat and get in the car or its moving without you!" Jadson chuckled from outside our room door.

"We're more man then you'll ever be." Amaya snapped her fingers with flare at him as she threw open the door. He eyed our messy room before shaking his head. He honestly didn't mind the mess- but he loved teasing us for it.

"Oh stop arguing you too. Just kiss and make up- oh and make me the best man at that wedding" I rummaged through my closet- since I was still in my pjs. He rolled his eyes as I ran into the bathroom, brushing my teeth, washing my face and changing. I took my hair brush and brushed it as I ran passed them.

Amaya laughed as I passed her, catching up eventually, though she was breathless. I was faster then her- though she was much stronger. We waved to Jadsons parents who were chuckling and waved us inside the car. It wasn't anything special- a BMW- but it was better then most cars. I grinned as I tossed my bag into the boot, Amaya following suit and Jadson already leaping into the car.

"Good morning," I smiled at the two adults, trying to be polite. Manners were not my strong suit but hey, can't stop a girl from trying.

"Good morning? It is a brilliant morning! Did you see that cricket match yesterday?" Jadson's dad was buzzing, and his wife was smiling with joy. She drove the car because she wouldn't allow anyone else to, since Jadson's dad may have scratched it... and broke the roof off.

I grinned, I did see the match- who didn't at least hear about it? Pakistan destroyed India which was a major shook. I mean, I was surprised they bet Britain- poor blokes- but India? Whoa.
"It was amazing!" I cheered. "But India shoulda put up more of a fight! They're like the best team in the world and they lost bad!"

Amaya nodded- though she like my Dad was more into basketball. Jadson laughed as his dad went into full blown cheering.

"Okay honey, your gonna scare the kids with all the yelling," Jadson's mother grinned, using her hands to play a beat on the wheel. Her husband sung a bit- they both used to be musicians and owned a music company. They didn't flaunt their wealth at all though, saying they only needed what they used. They gave most of the money to the charities my parents ran. They were partners in a way.

I always loved singing but I doubted I was any good- no matter how much Amaya disagrees. She's my sister, she's gonna be biased. Besides, I'm such a chicken. I wouldn't even go on a stage.

"Well dears, we're here already! But once you get back I want to know everything about your strings! Eeeee! I'm so excited for you girls!" She held up her arm- her string was around her wrist and connected her to her husband- and smiled. "String sistas! Like the Schuyler sisters but unfortunately we aren't in Hamilton!"

That's what I love most about Jadson's mother, she treats everyone like they're her age and it's not even awkward. Plus, she got me into Hamilton.

SHE'S AN ANGEL I TELL YOU.

I slumped out of the car, sighing and looking up at the old school building.

'I can do this.. I can do this...' I thought to myself, trying to get a tiny confidence boost.

I walked forward determinedly.
"Hey Everly!" Charlie waved with a smile. He was surrounded by popular people- not the nice ones, since there were some nice popular people, the jerk ones. I froze.

"Nope. I'm out." I turned on my heel and bolted the other way. This school year is going to be my downfall.

Life. Why you do this do me?!
