Trust & Believe| Lonzo Ball

Y/N had finished her shift at work. She quickly clocked out and headed for the elevators. Y/N passed the companies billboard that was positioned on a huge wall. She smiled slightly underneath her mask.

Her coworker, Sara, followed her to the elevators. They stood six feet apart. Y/N was oblivious to her stares. Sometimes she was used to the stares. She was one of the first Black editors at the magazine company and a lot of people looked at her differently.

"Have you seen Instagram yet?" Sara asked staring directly at Y/N.

Y/N's eyebrows scrunched in confusion, "For what, exactly?"

Sara shrugged her shoulders, "Just asking if you've heard any tea from the blogs."

Y/N ignored her and hoped the elevator doors would open. The mechanic squeaking made Y/N huff in relief. She noticed a group of people with cameras waiting for someone. She didn't think anything of it.

She pushed the glass doors open and was bum-rushed by these people. Y/N gasped with slight fear. She tried to move around them but their camera flickered and flashed profusely. She was stuck in place. Her car was a few feet away.

"Excuse me!" Y/N shouted trying to make her way through the crowd.

"Y/N, have you heard yet?"

"Have you seen the pictures?"

"How does it feel to be cheated on?"

They all screamed at her simultaneously. Y/N gripped her designer bag tighter after hearing what they were saying. She pushed her glasses further up her round face before speaking, "What are you talking about?"

"Is it true that Lonzo Ball is cheating on you?"

"He's trending on Twitter right now!"

"Everyone's posting about it on Instagram."

Y/N kept herself together and pushed through the crowd. She finally reached her Jeep and jumped inside. The tinted windows prevented them from seeing how hurt she was. Tears of frustration had her eyes glazed over.

Pulling out her phone with shaky hands she went straight to Twitter. Of course, they were right. Lonzo was trending at number one. She clicked on the screen and swiped until she found what she was looking for. Her heart sank.

Lonzo, her man, was seen in multiple videos and pictures with the same woman. She had blonde hair and a plastic body. Y/N threw her phone into the passenger seat and started the car. Y/N took off so fast that the tires left skid marks on the pavement.

"What the fuck am I doing?" Y/N whispered to herself.

Y/N pulled up to her house only to find another group of paparazzi waiting for her. She quickly pulled off onto the road trying to avoid them. She turned on the radio in hopes of escaping her racing thoughts. The music was interrupted by the hosts. Y/N listened in.

"Just in ya'll. Lonzo Ball is cheating on his long-term girlfriend, Y/N Y/L/N. He was seen out with the infamous Instagram model, Britany Scott. They seemed pretty booe'd up. It's about time he popped out with another girl. Y/N was a complete nobody."

Another host spoke this time, "Uh uh. Don't do Y/N like that. She ain't deserve this. Poor girl is probably a deer in headlights right now. Even though the public barely sees her out with Lonzo she's still his girl."

Y/N jammed the off button on the radio. Her chest began to rise and fall in panic. She had nowhere to go. Lonzo hadn't even called her yet. She knew he was guilty. Y/N pulled onto the side of the highway. She picked up her phone and let it ring three times.

"Y/N, my sweet baby!" She sobbed hearing her mother's voice.

"Ma! I don't know what to do." Y/N let the tears fall in shame.

"Come home. It's okay. You'll be safe here."

Her mother had moved from Louisiana to Vegas after she retired. Y/N hung up the phone feeling at ease. She knew what she had to do. Y/N called Marissa. They had been close friends since grade school. Marissa answered on the first ring.

"I need you to go to my house and pack a suitcase for me. I'll be at your house. I can't go anywhere else right now."

Marissa went quiet on the other end, "What are you about to do?"

"Does it matter? I'm losing my fucking mind! Look I'll explain later."

Y/N made it to Marissa's. No one had suspected that she'd be here. Using her spare key she entered the dark home. She was greeted by Niana, Marissa's cat. Y/N picked her up and went to sit on the couch.

"I got your bags. I must say, I ain't never seen that much paparazzi in my entire life." Marissa slammed the suitcases by the door.

"Thank you for this."

"I'd do anything for you. Come over here while I go heat up some leftovers so we can eat."

Y/N sat at the island in the kitchen. Marissa heated up some cajun pasta she'd made earlier. Y/N waited in silence feeling sick to her stomach. She slid the steaming plate in front of her. Marissa had her hands crossed over her chest.

"It's all over the blogs. I look like a complete idiot. What was I thinking dating him. He'd get tired of me eventually." Y/N sobbed even more. Her man wasn't really her man.

Marissa rubbed her back in support, "Sis, don't let one niggas doing fuck you up. Restart. You can always bounce back."

Y/N had lifted her head in a bright idea, "Do you have clippers by any chance."

The next day Marissa dropped Y/N off at the airport. She looked completely different. Dressed in a sweatsuit and sunglasses. Her hair was cut short and in its natural state. This was a clean slate. Y/N sat on her first-class seat on the plane and scrolled through her Instagram.

Comments and DMs kept pouring in like a flood. Y/N archived all the pictures of her and Lonzo. She made her page private but not before receiving a text from Lonzo.

Zo: We need to talk.

No, we don't.

Zo: I need to explain. Where can I find you? You weren't at my house or yours. Marissa won't call me back.

BLOCK CONTACT

Y/N blocked his contact and put her phone on airplane mode. The flight was peaceful. Nobody said anything to her. They couldn't really figure out who she was. She made her way to her mother's house the minute she landed.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie." Her mother engulfed her into a warm hug.

Y/N sighed in salvation. She knew she was safe, emotionally and physically. Her mother had made Y/N's favorite meal and left her to be alone for a moment. Y/N stayed in the shower for a long time letting the hot water burn on her skin.

She laid in the bed in her mother's spare room. The shades were down letting in a little light. She opened her phone and checked her messages. Y/N rolled her eyes seeing the entire Ball family pop up in her recent.

LiAngelo: Y/N can you please tell Zo where you at?

Melo: Zo, is freaking out. If you don't tell him where you went I think he gone kill himself.

Lavar: I know my sons can be knuckleheads but you have to forgive him

Y/N shut her phone off. Her mind was cluttered. She just wanted to sleep. Y/N wanted no parts of the Ball family. Her eyes fluttered closed. She hadn't been to sleep in two days. Her body was in a daze as she woke up. The room was dark but a figure sat at the bottom of the bed. Rubbing her eyes she thought it was her mother. But his cologne gave him away.

She stared at the back of his head with anger. All the emotions of a five-year relationship came up all at once. She lunged herself at his body sending painful blows to his back. He yelled in pain.

"I hate you! How could you do this to me!" She yelled as Lonzo restrained her wrists.

He had her pinned to the bed. Guilt was all over his face. Y/N broke into tears as she stared at the man she once loved. He had found her hiding in her mother's house. She wanted to kill him.

"I'm sorry, Y/N. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He repeated over and over again until he held her in his arms.

She was silent as he pleaded for forgiveness. He said it was just a one-time thing while he was away on the road. That he still loved her and no one else. She'd always be his number one. The two waited for one to speak up.

"Why wasn't I enough? I can't do this anymore. You need to leave. I can't even look at you." Y/N pushed him at went to stand up at the door.

He looked at her in disbelief. Shaking his head he made his way to the door. He kissed her cheek not before saying his last words, "I'll be waiting for you when you're ready."
