She's My Soulmate| Jalen Green
"Oh hell nah," Y/N spoke as her eyes landed on his.
Feeling uncomfortable with his glare she pulled on her pale pink sweater. Her cute boho bag rested on her shoulder. She gripped it so tight she thought she'd rip it off. Her eyes scanned everywhere trying not to look back at him.
Y/N held her breath as she walked past a group of guys. They eyed her as she entered the bookstore. Releasing the tension that built in her bones she made her way to the romance section.
She cleared her throat thankful that she didn't trip and fall when she walked past those guys. She refocused on the stacks of books in front of her. Pulling out her phone she scanned her notes app. Various titles caught her eye.
Jalen turned his head and tried to look through the bookstore windows. He could see her disappear into the romance section. His friend's laughter took him out of his gaze. He sat back on the bench.
"What?"
"Just go over there and talk to her, damn."
He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. She just looks familiar."
His friend Joshua laughed again, "Yo, don't be a pussy. Just go say hi or something."
"That could be your soulmate dummy."
Shareef pushed his shoulder as Jalen sat up. He shook his head at their matchmaking attempts. He opened the door and headed inside the bookstore. He searched for her pink sweater. He felt frustrated as he scanned the isles.
He did a double-take when he finally caught up to her. She was nose-deep in a book oblivious to the world. Her curls were spewed around her head almost creating an invisible halo. A few were in front of the shelf stacked in all sorts of directions. She was keeping those for later.
He took a deep breath as he moved towards her. The bookstore was quiet but calm. It lowkey settled his own nerves. Y/N could see something moving out of the corner of her eye. Jalen stood close to her radiating his body heat. She could smell his cinnamon scent.
"Excuse me," Jalen whispered.
Y/N looked up seeing the eyes she looked into earlier, "Hi."
He smiled and to her it felt reassuring that he was there for a reason. Y/N placed the book down in her "take home" stack.
"I saw you earlier right?" Y/N questioned looking at him blushing.
He nodded, "Yeah. Sorry about the staring. You just looked so...ethereal."
Y/N giggled, "Thanks...What's your name?"
"Jalen, yours?"
"Y/N."
