The group of friends finally made it to the Fall Fest. Twinkle lights illuminated the scene. They had games and treats. A screening of the film Scream was playing on the big screen. Patrons laid out on their blankets to watch. 

"See yall in a few. Meet back up so we can watch Final Destination and then dip." Josh spoke passing out tickets for everyone to keep. 

Jalen grabbed Roxy's hand and they skipped off to the photo booth. Maria and Josh went over to the hayride. Sasha was starstruck at how beautiful everything looked. Lamelo took her in, she was the most beautiful girl he had seen in a long time. 

"Where you wanna go?" He asked allowing her to lead the night. 

Sasha looked over to the basketball games and smirked, "How about you go win me a teddy bear?" 

He chuckled, "Really? This should be easy. I didn't know it would take that long for me to impress you." 

"What do you mean by that?" She asked as they walked over to the booth. 

A man in a striped jersey handed Lamelo the ball, "Get all three shots and you win. Good luck buddy." 

"I don't need it." Lamelo took the first shot with ease. 

He looked back over to Sasha, "I been trynna holla at you since the beginning. I tried everything to get to know you." 

Sasha watched as he made the second shot, "I guess I never saw us that way. Well, I'll be honest you gave me mixed signals."

He put a hand on his chest faking a look of hurt, "I never did that, shawty. That was all you, talking about mixed signals."

The man handed him the last ball. Sasha was deep in thought. The sound of the net brought her back down to earth. Lamelo smiled at the man who seemed upset that he got to win a prize. 

"I'll take the biggest bear you have, sir." 

Lamelo handed Sasha the heavy bear. She smiled in thanks. He leaned against the counter, "Where to next?" 

Meanwhile, Jalen and Roxy sat in the decorated photo booth. They argued about what poses to do. Roxy fixed her hair as Jalen paid the fare. Roxy crossed her legs and swung her arms around his neck. Jalen smiled finally showing his teeth as Roxy asked. 

"Okay babe, let's change before it snaps another one," Roxy exclaimed. 

Jalen kissed her cheek unexpectedly while Roxy leaned over. The flash indicated that another picture was taken, "Last one, silly face this time!" 

Jalen held up his middle finger while Roxy stuck her tongue out. The three photos came out of the slot. Roxy took the photos and pulled Jalen out of the booth. She wrapped one arm around his waist. 

Maria and Josh sat on the Ferris wheel. They enjoyed the scenery. Maria rubbed his chest as they enjoyed the moment of silence. The wind blew a cold breeze. Maria pulled Josh by his chin and left a kiss on his lips. 

"I love you." She said biting her lip.

"I love you too, babe." 

Lamelo and Sasha sat on the field waiting for their friends. The blanket was the only thing separating them from the hard ground. The couples made their way to them. The movie began to play. Josh passed around buckets of popcorn. 

Lamelo and Sasha sat the farthest from the group. She wasn't interested in the movie. She picked at her popcorn box. Lamelo had been too much into the movie because when she tapped him he jumped. 

"That's so corny, why you jump like that?" She asked giggling slightly. 

"What is it?" He asked. 

"I was thinking about our conversation earlier and I want to try us. I know I've probably been a bitch to you. Or at least kept a wall up from ignoring the signs-"

He cut her off, "Sasha, shut up and come here." 

The two shared a steamy kiss. Sasha felt popcorn being thrown on them by their friends. She pulled away from Lamelo and flashed her middle finger. 

"Get a room!" Josh yelled back to them.

Patrons who sat closets to them shushed them, "Worry about yall damn selfs!" 

"I'll be back. I'm going to the bathroom." Roxy whispered to Jalen who was trying to cop a feel on her butt. 

"Hurry back." 

Twenty minutes had passed. Sasha noticed that Roxy hadn't been back yet. She turned around looking for her. Sasha got up and went to the front where Maria was. She leaned down to speak to her. 

"Come to the bathroom with me right quick." She was telling not asking.

"Why can't you go by yourself." 

"Girl code. Plus, Roxy's not here yet." 

"Maybe she got lost." Maria sat up and pulled her jacket tighter on her body. 

The two girls walked towards the haystacks to find the bathrooms. They had looked everywhere for Roxy. Jalen was starting to get worried. They assured him that everything would be okay. They finally found the women's bathroom. 

Sasha pushed the door open. The bathroom was quiet. No sign of Roxy anywhere. The two girls kicked the doors of each stall. Still nothing. The last stall made them stop in their tracks. 

"Roxy? Is that you?" Maria questioned as Sasha slowly moved the bathroom door open. 

A gut-wrenching scream escaped both of their mouths. Roxy sat on the toilet dead. Blood gushed all over the floor. Her pants and underwear were to her ankles. Stab wounds were all over her body. 

Everyone sat on the curb. Red and blue lights flashed. The coroner covered Roxy's dead body in a black bag. Jalen sobbed as Maria and Josh tried to console him. Sasha's head never left Lamelo's shoulder. She was stunned. 

"We're gonna need all of you to come down to the station to give some statements on what happened." The detective spoke searching the scene. 

The group rode in silence to the police department. Sasha watched as Jalen stared at their photo booth pictures. He smiled slightly remembering how much he loved his girlfriend. His bloodshot eyes teared up again. The sobbing continued. 

Sasha took him in her lap. She hugged him and allowed him to fall apart completely. She rubbed his back trying to ease his pain. A stray tear fell from her eyes. They would never be alright after this. 

"So you're telling me you just walked in on her dead body?" The detective's voice boomed through the interrogation room. 

"Yes! She was already dead when we got to her. I keep telling you this." Sasha spoke her voice straining. 

A knock at the door sounded. The detective opened the door revealing a rookie officer. He handed him a manilla folder, "Chief wanted me to give this to you." 

He opened the folder and smashed it closed, "Shit! Look kid, you're free to go."

Sasha raised an eyebrow, "What."

"You and you're friends are all clear." 

Sasha slowly made her way to the door. She stood on the outside eavesdropping on the next few exchanges. 

"They said it's the same m.o as the previous ones." 

"A butcher knife."

"Even though he's crossed racial lines it doesn't matter, this guy' out for blood." 

Sasha left her secret spoke. LaMelo stood once he saw her coming. She engulfs him in a hug feeling an urge to cry. She held in her emotions. Wiping her eyes she cleared her throat. 

"We can go." 

Jalen lifted his head, "What? I'm not leaving until somebody tells me what the fuck happened!" 

His shouting caught a few head turns from the staff at the station. Sasha held out a pleading hand. Maria placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Josh stood in front of him. LaMelo watched Jalen fall apart. 

"Look man, let's just go. We can come back in the morning." Josh tried to reason with him. 

"No! You know what, I'm out. Don't follow me." Jalen pushed Maria's hand off of him. 

They watched as he raced outside into the darkness of the night. The remaining four looked at each other. Sasha unconsciously grabbed LaMelo's hand in hers. She hoped that Jalen would be okay.
