Alexis-1
As Alex walked up the stairs, she followed the wet footprints of the guy in front of her. A smile slowly grew when she noticed she was completing the set of prints, her steps alternating with his. Today, she felt confident in her burgundy red leggings and grey cotton skirt. First day of senior year. She can't believe that in a few months she will be graduating from college into an unknown future. Until then, she doesn't think anything will shock her. Except for the impossible amount of mud splattered on her boots. Five minutes before class starts. She walked briskly into the bathroom and pulled a few sheets of paper towels.
As Alex dampened the towels, someone stumbled into her peripheral vision. The guy blinked at her, perplexed, and turned to regard the women's bathroom.
"Wrong bathroom?"
Alex nodded and scoffed, "Yeah."
He laughed dryly.
Her brows furrowed, "Are you drunk?"
He tilted his head as his eyes scanned her body. Then with a crooked smile, he said, "Plastered."
With that, he walked out before Alex could recover from her surprise.
She rolled her eyes, remembering what it was like being a freshmen and how easy it wasto get lost on such a large campus with its scattered buildings and its maze-like corridors and staircases.
Before entering, Alex double-checked the room number on her phone and then opened the door to the inclined semi-circle rows of tables and chairs. Every seat was occupied except for one. She bit her lip. The one next to the drunk freshmen.
She kept her head down and her hand busy, trying to think away the awkwardness. Drunk Guy kept shifting in his seat and tapping an, admittedly, catchy beat.
"This semester, you will work with a partner. I will give more detail about the project later. I have randomly assigned each of you to a partner so you don't have to worry about it."
A collective groan rippled through room. The professor held up his hand.
"I know, I know. Trust me, I've had my share of partner drama. This has been the cleanest way."
"Well, that's bull," Drunk Guy muttered.
Alexis rolled her eyes. She felt bad for whoever was assigned to this idiot.
Her leg bounced faster the longer her name went unannounced. She noticed that Drunk Guy hasn't reacted to the names being called. She prayed that probability will be in her favor.
*What an awkward way to meet someone! Yikes! What would you do if you were in this situation? I'm curious to now :) *
