When Nina arrived at work on Monday morning. She could feel the tension in the air.

She had everyone's takeaway coffee cups which she spent time at the counter writing quotes on them.

She was hoping this small gesture would lift everyone's spirits. Seeing as the team was rather upset that Hotch was temporarily stepping down because of issues with Chief Strauss.

Whom Nina has decided she did not like ever since she clicked her fingers in front of her face and demanded a black coffee.

Her cup doesn't have a quote and Nina doesn't care if that's petty.

Nina knocked on Garcia's door.
"Come in"
A muffled voice replied.

Nina opens the door and looked around, "woah, I love the decorations." She says.

This 'lair' as Garcia called it was an absolute reflection of the wacky woman's vibe.

"Why thank you my coffee bringing angel!"  Penelope gives her a smile.

"Here, I thought that you would like it." Nina hands her the Carmel frappe.

"All you need is cat videos and good friends." Penelope reads off. "Oh! And you drew a little cat. Awww. I love it." She gives Nina a rushed hug. "I needed this today."

"Of course, Penny. Just consider it a small thank you for the cute videos you send me"

Nina and Penelope had started a budding friendship of bonding over animal videos and their love for the tenth doctor, David Tenant was truly gorgeous.

Penny was also the only member of the team that knew about Ethan. She had found out about her brothers cancer while doing Nina's background check and had let her know that if she needed anyone to talk to she was there.

Nina was grateful, because while being outgoing and confident during high school and  college she had never really had real friends so all of this was new to her, but she knew it was the good kind of new.

She had good reactions from everyone's quotes, especially Rossi's. She had heard from Garcia that he was quite the cook and her "I love to cook with wine, i sometimes even put it in the food" quote had gotten quite the laugh out of the older Italian gentleman.

The last person she needed to give coffee too was Spencer. As Nina handed him his all too sweet black coffee she watched his eyes scan the cup.
"We are shaped and fashioned by what we love" huh, that's by Johan Wolfgang van Goethe" Spencer flashes her a grin.

"Indeed it is my good doctor, and did you know that van Goethe opposed a church wedding with his wife at first because he did not believe in God? However it was the only way to have a legitimate marriage at the time so he had to" Nina smiles proudly at Spencer.

"I did and I like the quote a lot"  He says while fiddling with his satchel.

He didn't know why Nina made him nervous. Maybe it was because he wasn't used to women actually wanting to talk about things he's interested in. Much less women as pretty as Nina.

She was wearing a green satin button up shirt and a pencil skirt that accentuate all the curve that Spencer really shouldn't be looking at, even if he couldn't help it. He was definitely an ass man.

Nina couldn't help but look at his hands as he fiddled with his satchel. He had nice hands, really nice hands. She couldn't help wonder what it would be like to hold them, or what it would feel like for him to run them through her hair. She felt the tip of her ears get hot, she really shouldn't be thinking about her coworkers that way, even if he was very handsome.

Derek walked past the two, interrupting their less than coworker-friendly thoughts.

"We have a case, wheels up in 20."

Nina sighed and looked at Spencer, " I guess they need my strong muscular arms to get all of your stuff." She says pretending to flex.

Spencer laughed, that was the first time she'd heard him laugh and she planned on making laugh very often if she could here that sound again.

...

On the jet the team was discussing their newest case. Women were being drained of their blood and left on highways in LA.

"The last time we were in LA was for that stalker case, wasn't it?" Hotch asks

"Yeah it was, tell us Spencer do you still talk to Laila?" JJ teased him.

Spencer looks at Nina because for some reason he doesn't want her to know about Laila. Just Incase that would make her think of him differently.

Derek Morgan would have normally noticed his friends worried glances towards the team secretary but he was to focused on being a good temporary unit chief. Something Spencer was happy about because he definitely didn't want to be teased more than he already was.

" I think we should focus on the case at hand."

Everyone chuckled a bit, except for Nina who seemed confused.

"Are Those bite marks on the victims necks?" Asked Emily.

Nina scrunches her nose as she peered over to seem that it indeed looked like bite marks.

"Like a vampire?" She blurted out and immediately regretted.
"Sorry that was stupid." She mumbles.

"No not at all," Spencer speaks up, " vampirism, while rare is often seen in people with severe schizophrenia where they have a fixation with drinking blood, although it's not as common as classic cannibalism."

"Cool!" Nina exclaims, seeing the weird looks she was getting from the rest of the team she quickly added, " I mean not cool, because of the whole murder thing." She was starting to think she should really shut her mouth.

"Classic cannibalism, what a lovely job we have." Rossi says sarcastically.

Nina furrows her eyebrows.

"Is there such a thing as non classic cannibalism?" She asks, hoping she doesn't sound too stupid.

Reid grins at her and starts to excitedly explain the difference. Using his hands to gesture as he speaks, Nina notices he does that when he's explaining something.

"Reid, I'm pretty sure Nina doesn't want to hear all of that." JJ interrupts him as he was getting into rather graphic details.

Spencer stops talking, looking rather dejected. He smiles apologetically at Nina, "sorry."

" oh no, I do want to hear more but maybe when you guys don't have a case to work on." She smiles at him, rather upset that JJ would say that to him because she liked hearing Reid talk, even if it was about things she didn't totally understand.

"I agree, let's get started by looking at the MO." Derek says.

Nina smiles at the team as she got up and started on a pot of coffee, she had a feeling they were going to need it.
