Chapter 16

Today was the last day of the teams two days off, Nina walks to Spencers apartment with two coffee cups in her hands. Still giddy about the date last night, she still hadn't stopped smiling.

Ringing Spencers doorbell, her breath hitches when he opens the door. He stands there running his fingers through his messy bed-head hair. He's wearing his Caltech T-shirt and some pyjama pants that hung low on his hips. Nina is certain she's drooling but In her defence this man seriously didn't know how good looking he is.

"Hey Baby," He says snapping her out of her ogling, the smirk dancing on his lips shows her that he definitely noticed. The pet-name makes her stomach flutter.

"Hey," she breathes out, "I brought coffee," she hands him one of the cups.

He grins and steps aside and lets her in, sipping his coffee. He practically moans as the sweet warm liquid makes its way down his throat. Wrapping his arms around Ninas waist he  pulls her back flush against his front and kisses her cheek.

"Thank you." he mumbles, still kind of sleepy.

"No problem" She gently rubs her thumb over his knuckles, "I didn't mean to wake you up." She says sheepishly, relaxing into his hug. She can't stop herself from feeling hot as he places gentle open mouth kisses on her neck.

"If I get woken up by you and coffee first thing I'm very happy." He says against her neck.

Nina spins around in his arms to face him, "You are such a sweet-talker, you know that?" She teases him and pecks his lips quickly before she detangles herself from him and heads to the kitchen.

"Wait until I tell Morgan I've stolen his title." He says walking in after her.

Ninas laughter bounces off the walls of his apartment, "You're right, he definitely won't be happy." She grins at him as she leans against the counter.

His eyes run up her outfit, it was different to what she usually wore; thigh high socks and doc martins with a pleated skirt and a simple band Tee, 'Green Day.' It read-Spencer makes a mental note to look it up later.

He grins at her and presses his lips to hers, "You know what happened last time you were on this counter?" He tells her, chuckling at the way her eyes widen at his words.

"You know, when I first met you I never thought you'd be this bold." She shoots back her hand placed against his warm chest, she could feel his heartbeat against her palm.

He hums in agreement, his hand tracing up her thigh causing Nina too shiver.

"Trust me baby, you have no idea how bold I can be." Spencer says lowly, pulling her into him his nose brushing hers. Nina's heart races as his words. He knew exactly what he was doing to her. 'Two can play at this game', she thinks to herself.

"Maybe you can show me?" She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him into a kiss.

Nina is sure she'll never get tired of kissing Spencer. His lips are always surprisingly soft and taste like coffee whereas his hands have a coarse feel against her cheeks. She can't help but gasp at the feeling of his tongue against hers or the gentle sucking of her bottom lip. She felt herself clench in anticipation as the hand that isn't gently cupping her face moves under her shirt trailing up her side. Nina presses herself into him more earning a groan against her lips, just as his hand reaches the underside of her bra-

Two loud rings from both their phones cause them to jump apart, Spencer groans in frustration and picks up his phone from the counter. "Dr Reid" he answers abruptly, running his hand through his hair trying to calm himself down, Nina sighs at the interruption knowing that they were probably not going to be able to finish what they started.

"Okay, thanks Hotch. We'll be there." Spencer says into the receiver.

"We?" Hotch's voice is heard through the speaker, Ninas eyebrows raise as she stifles her laugh.

'Fuck' Spencer mouths, "Um- I meant I-I'll be there." he stutters.

"Okay see you soon." Hotch hangs up.

Looking down at her phone Nina sees a missed call and a text from Garcia saying they have a case.

"Damn, Do serial killers never take a break ?" Nina sighs in frustration.

"Actually the amount of active serial killers in the world is an average of 6." Spencer pipes up.

"Really?" Nina asks, feeling a bit uneasy at the statistic. The thought of their always being about 6 serial killers in the world at all times doesn't sit very well with her.

"Don't worry," Spencer pecks her cheek. "You've got the team, we won't let anything happen."

Nina scrunches up her nose,"I hate it when you profile me." making Spencer laugh.

"I know." He grins at her, "but you do this cute thing with your nose when I do" he plants a small kiss on her nose.

Nina feels her cheeks tinge as her hand gingerly reaches up to touch her nose. She sighs, "I have to head home and get my go-bag."

Spencer never really resented having a case, he was alway available but in this moment he wish that serial killers took the weekend off every once in a while. He sighs and presses his lips to hers relishing in the feeling for a few more seconds. Pulling away but keeping their foreheads touching, "If you must." He breathes.

"Don't worry, you'll see me in a minute." Nina pulls away and heads out the door. "But try not to miss me too much." She grins as she walks off.

"Actually, I'll see you in approximately Thirty-Two Minutes and 17 seconds." Spencer calls out to the hallway.

Nina turns and blows him a kiss, "see you approximately then." She calls backs and starts her walk back home.

...

Walking into the BAU office Nina is greeted by a frantic Garcia.

"Hey Penny, that bad?" She asks her friend, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Yup, I wouldn't have called you away from a lovely weekend with my little angels if it wasn't."

Garcia had taken to calling Hope and Ethan 'My Little Angels' which Nina thought was the cutest thing, hearing the nickname made her chuckle.

Putting her go-back down she sighs and gives Garcia a sad smile, "I'll put on some coffee, Yeah?" She says. The bubbly blonde nods and scurries off to the round table to begin the presentation.

Watching the coffee boil Nina can't help but let her mind wander. She can't help but remember how upset she was to have to return to Virginia after she'd Graduated in New York but now she was finally feeling like she belonged somewhere. That 'somewhere' is with this team, which was something she wouldn't have thought three months ago when she started.

Walking into the board room with a tray full of coffee cups balancing in her hands she feels herself freeze. The sound of Garcia explaining the case seemed to be muffled. Up on that screen where pictures of two horrible mutilated bodies but that wasn't the problem, Nina had quickly gotten used to seeing gruesome things on the job. No, the thing that made Nina's blood run cold were the two pictures next to the bodies. She felt the tray slip out of her hands in what seemed like slow motion.

"Oh my god." Nina gasps as the mugs crash onto the carpet, a shaking hand comes up to her mouth to muffle the sob that broke through her lips.

Spencers arms were around her in a second, stopping her from completely collapsing. The whole team gathers around her, trying to calm her down and asking what was going on but her eyes barely left the screen.

"Nina, please tell me what's happening?" Spencers hushed tone and gentle hand on her cheek snaps her out of her shock.

Tearing her eyes away from the faces of the two women she looks at him, pale and shaking she breathes out, "I knew them, they were my friends." pointing a trembling finger to the victims.

This causes a heavy silence to fall over the team, Hotch is the first to speak up.

"If you don't feel like you can accompany us on this case Miss. Charleston, you can work form here." He says sternly a sad look in his eyes as he looks at her tear stained face.

"N-no," She says slowly wiping her tears a hard look passes onto her face, "I want to help, even if its just booking hotels and bringing coffee. I have to help."

Hotch nods in understanding and the rest of the team offer her sad smiles.

They finished the debriefing and Nina had gone on to prep the jet, they were now soaring above the clouds heading to New York City.

Spencer hands her a cup of what looks like tea, she gingerly sniffs it.

"Its chamomile, it has calming effects." He states, since the scene in the briefing room Spencer had barely left her side.

Taking a small sip she offers him a wobbly smile, "Thanks" She whispers, leaning into his touch taking all the comfort she can which he willingly gave to her.

Garcias face pops up on the laptop, "Hello my amazing crime fighters," She starts, "I have some bad news."

"What is it Garcia?" JJ asks, glancing at Nina and Spencer in worry.

"I can't seem to find a connection between the two victims other than the fact that Nina knew them both and that they were both in relationships." She taps away furiously on her keyboard.

"Maybe the victims both being in relationships is the M.O" Emily says.

"It could be but the first victim Jessica Hayes had only been with her boyfriend for two months whereas Natlia Featherstone has been married to her wife for three years."

Morgan frowns at this."It's rare that unsubs cross over sexualities with their victims."

"But not impossible." Rossi states.

"But other than that nothing else, they weren't in the same groups, lived in different areas and they didn't even work together." Garcia sighs, "Im coming up empty."

Nina clears her throat,"Actually, we all worked together." her raspy voice causes everyone looks at her confused. Of course they were confused, how could Garcia not find anything if Nina and these girls worked together.

"What do you mean?" Spencer finally says something his brows furrowed together.

"Its how I met them, we used to work at this club that did everything by paper and didn't declare their workers to the state." She says slowly, "It was called the Red Room. They'd find their dancers through student housing." Nina hadn't been planning on telling anyone how she'd made her money during college, as far as her Aunt knows she Au Paired for a wealthy family who had a soft spot for Ethans health troubles. The truth was she would strip at the exclusive underground club for rich business men and crime-lords.

"Isn't that a-" Rossi starts but is cut off by the way Nina visibly tenses.

"Yes." She grits out, Spencer still hadn't said anything his eyes now glued to the floor of the jet.

Nina looks at him, practically begging him to look at her.

"Garcia, find out what you can about the Red Room." Hotch says ending the call.

"You won't find much." Nina speaks up again looking back at the others, "they try to keep their business as underground as possible in order to protect the customers."

"Tell us everything you know." Hotch states.

So she did.

She told them about how she was recruited a month after moving to New York and how she'd accepted the job to help pay for her Aunts mortgage as well as Ethans hospital bills. She told them the extensive security measures taking by the club and who runs it.

The team took this information and added it to the profile and a plan began to form. A plan that definitely involves Nina.
