Mai's P.O.V.

     Years has passed by like a breeze and I'm finally turning 18! Zooming past everything, I slid down from the rails of the stairs and rushed off to the dining room ignoring Lin trying to warn me on how dangerous that was only to be stopped by Madoka who asked him when did I do something that wasn't dangerous. Yesh, I'm not that of a 'danger magnet' as Naru dubs me as.

"You should really stop that Mai." Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

I stuck my tongue out as a response. Because I'm amazing and mature. He rolls his eyes at my 'childish behavior' and flocked over to help Luella with the decorations while Gene was giving some assistance to Martin for the guest list.

I just leaned back against the wall with a smile on my face and thought back on the previous years. Two years after I moved to London, dad died. Apparently, it was a hold up but the guy just killed him and ran off with everything he had. He's now in jail though, serves him right. After dad died, mom was never the same. Though she tried to put a face, I saw right through it. Being near Naru helped that. It wasn't long before she left too. Cancer.

Orphaned.

Lonely.

Alone.

That's what I felt during the funeral. And when the Japanese government tried to bring me back to place me in an orphanage, someone already filed for custody over me. Still, I stayed in the orphanage for a week before they were granted the custody for me and we traveled back to London.

Though, despite popular belief. It wasn't Martin and Luella. Though they tried and were shot down, it was actually Lin. Surprise! The guy who hates Japanese people adopted one. But to be honest, having Lin as a guardian wasn't all that bad. Though there were it's downsides.

I still remember one time when a guy first asked me out. From then on, our relationship flourished. And when it was time to meet the parents..... I swear I just left them alone for a minute or two to fetch tea but he ran out paler than Naru. Lin just sat there, in his chair, grinning like a pirate who struck gold.

When the Davis' found out they all held the same reaction. Amused. Gene was rolling on the floor, Naru simply smirked, Martin shook his head with a small smile on his lips and Luella, well she was just happy that he was gone. She said I quote, 'he should've never asked you out in he first place if he was going to chicken out.....Noll dear when you ask a girl out, you wouldn't do that would you?' End quote.

Ever since we were young teens, Luella paired Naru and I together. Gene was her first thought of pushing me with, but we both assured her that we were more like siblings only for her to think we did that because I had a thing for Naru. Gene was laughing like a hyena throughout the time, but I was blushing at the mere thought of being with Naru that she thought she got it right.

I tried to convince her that, at was not the case, but she would have no room for it. It only got worse when Naru kissed me. It was like traditional for us to kiss each other on the cheek to say goodbye, but I stopped doing that with Gene when we got older because it got awkward and he had a girlfriend. Naru on the other was offended when I didn't kiss him goodbye so he tried to kiss me, but I turned around only for it to land on my lips.

And she just happened to open the door.

I swear she just broke down crying that she may actually have a daughter-in-law from Naru. We tried to calm her down only for it to worsen and when Martin came, he asked why she was crying. Luella told him it were tears of joy that Naru might actually have interest in the opposite sex and they may expect a grandchild from him in the future.

I blushed red, Naru rolled his eyes and Gene filmed everything on his phone and sent it to his girlfriend, Diane. Diane was like my sister from another mister. She has light purple hair, and she has heterochromia. Meaning, her eyes are different colors. She has green one her left eye and blue on the other one. She was constantly bullied for that but when she transferred, Gene stepped up to protect her. He was like her knight in shining armor.

"Mai, stop daydreaming and help us.", Naru broke me out of my memories.

If you're still wondering why I call Oliver, Naru, it's simple really. Naru the narcissist. He was annoyed at first but then he got used to it. Though only the people close to him can call him that. One time, a fangirl of his heard me call him that and when she tried it, Naru glared his meanest glare and the poor girl was frozen in her place.

"Yeah, yeah, what do you want me to do?", I crossed my arms.

He sighed, "never mind, just go shopping for your outfit tonight."

I frowned, "but I already have clothes. Heck, I need more closet space and all my clothes already took up 2 rooms in Lin's house!"

He pinched the bridge of his nose, "mother insisted. Go before she goes with you. Or Madoka. Or both." He held out his gold card.

I shivered at the thought of Madoka and Luella at the mall. I swear, when they enter the mall, everyone makes way for them. Not because of being famous, but because they're afraid of being stampeded by them.

I looked at the card he was holding. "Thanks Naru, but I already have my own gold card." Being a powerful psychic has its perks and it doesn't help that the majority of BSPR spoils me like I'm their child or even grandchild.

He came closer to me and whispered in my ear. Shivering slightly as his hot breath gently grazed my sensitive ear. "Mother insisted and if you haven't noticed, she is looking at us through the corner of her eye waiting for you to take it. To be a gentleman she says. It's your birthday but don't go too crazy....not like last year."

My face was red from remembering last year. Someone messed up during my medical checkup and I was worse than a drunk person. Gene, of course, filmed the whole thing and I refused to come out of my room. I locked the door and borrowed one of Lin's shiki to guard the door. Apparently, they also follow their master's family members but that happens rarely.

"It wasn't my fault.", I whispered, barely containing the want to scream at him.

He smirked and thrust the gold card at my hand. "Go."

I grumbled but took the card and walked out the door only to be met with Diane.

"Princess!", she treated me.

Diane and I were like sisters, as I said before and despite being older by two months and three days, she acts like she's the older one and protects me like a mother hen. Of course she loves Gene because he's her boyfriend.....and Naru....she hates him and he hates her back.

Diane wanted to be helpful in our paranormal investigations and said that she'll try to practice some witch craft. Gene encouraged her, Naru rolled his eyes and muttered 'wicked witch of the west' and I was standing in the sidelines watching everything.

"Come on! The mall is calling us!" She grabbed my hand and dragged me off to her blue Lamborghini and practiced dropped me at my seat.

"Nest stop, the mall!" And with that, she drove off as if we were being chased.

At the mall~

My knees are dead. At least I think that they are. Diane had to support me while I walked slower than a snail. After we got some life back on them, she dragged me off to buy me a light purple dress, a Jovani brand too. Silver 1-inched heels, and a matching pairs of earrings and necklace.

Shopping with Diane wasn't that bad. If Luella and Madoka were here.....let's just say chaos will ensue. Diane then dragged me to an ice-cream parlor.

"Just sit tight, I'll get you, your favorite flavor."

"Cookie dough?"

"But of course! Anything for my princess!"

I smiled at her retreating form and took out my purple phone. 3 messages from Naru. It said. I taped at it and began to read.

Gene told me that he sent that witch with you, you okay? 10:35

Are you still alive? Respond to me in 10 minutes. 10:44

That's it, I'm going to fetch you. 10:54

I was ready to send him a text that it wouldn't be necessary but a hand found its way to my shoulder and I knew who it was. My instincts didn't have to tell me. I turned to meet Naru's stoic and slightly slightly worried face.

"Mai.", he said to me without any emotions, as always.

"Hey Naru, fancy meeting you here." I laughed unnaturally.

"Now here Princess, I - what are you doing here?!"

Naru dropped his hand from my shoulder but step up to Diane. "Just making sure she's still alive."

Diane scowled, "she's more alive with me than she is with you!"

Naru glared at her, but Diane stood on her ground, "and don't deny it. Mai likes me more than you!"

"What are you? Lesbian? Cause of you are then may be its best of you stop leading my brother on."

"Don't you dare bring my Genie into this!"

And so they started their fight. It was like this all the time and of course, either Gene or I had to be the mediator. I stood up from my chair and dragged Naru to the other side.

"Look, I'm fine, you can go now."

"I know, I'm just worried. You hardly ever leave my side for too long and let us not forget the danger that you seem to bring with you wherever you go."

I scoffed, "what danger? Name me one."

He raised an eyebrow as if saying 'are you sure you want the answer?'

"Okay, maybe I get into trouble a lot, but really, I'm perfectly safe. Besides, Lin sent a shiki or two with me so I'm safe. I'll be home later. I promise." I kissed his cheek.

Naru sighed, "fine. I'll give you two an hour and a half then you're going home."

I nodded, "perfect."

That was Naru. Cold, somewhat introverted, and protective. He kissed my cheek and went his way to the exist, ignoring some fan girls that tried to catch his attention.

Behind me, Diane asked. "You sure you two aren't dating?"
