xxix. driver's license
PRESENTING . . . TEENAGE ROMANCE
( play song )
THE WHOLE SETTING WAS NOW CHANGING AS IT ALL CHANGED OUTSIDE. Crystal was by her side as they walked outside where everything was now fixed and with everyone who was standing in the stands.
"I got my driver's license last week. Just like we always talked about. 'Cause you were so excited for me. To finally drive up to your house," Jackie played the piano as the dancers now were clapping their hands together.
"But today I drove through the suburbs. Crying 'cause you weren't around," Kate sang. This song she wrote was about Jackie who got cheated on but since Jackie didn't want to sing she let Kate sing the
song.
"And you're probably with that blonde girl. Who always made me doubt. She's so much older than me. She's everything I'm insecure about," she walked in the middle of the dancers making thise way to the middle of the field.
"Yeah, today I drove through the suburbs. 'Cause how could I ever love someone else? And I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one," Kate sang putting both her hands on her microphone.
"And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay now that I'm gone. Guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me. 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street," Crystal played softly the guitar moving away from Kate and going over to the piano sitting down ontop of it.
"And all my friends are tired. Of hearing how much I miss you, but," Kate shook her head letting out a chuckle, "I kinda feel sorry for them. 'Cause they'll never know you the way that I do, yeah," Kate went next to Crystal standing besides her.
"Today I drove through the suburbs. And pictured I was driving home to you," Kate felt sorry for Jackie for going through that she didn't deserve that.
"And I know we weren't perfect. But I've never felt this way for no one, oh, And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone." Kate walked over to the front of the piano as the dancers went around them dancing with their partners.
"I guess you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me, 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street." Kate let the beat drop before she raised her voice matching the pain in the lyrics.
"Red lights, stop signs. I still see your face in the white cars, front yards. Can't drive past the places we used to go to. 'Cause I still fuckin' love you, babe," She opened her arms bobbing her head with the music as Crystal got off the piano and went next to Kate dancing with the dancers.
"Sidewalks we crossed. I still hear your voice in the traffic, we're laughing Over all the noise. God, I'm so blue, know we're through. But I still fuckin' love you, babe," Kate walked over to the piano and set her microphone on the stand as Crystal laid down on the piano still playing the guitar.
"I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one. And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone," she closed her eyes shaking her head before looking down at the piano as her fingers glided with the keys.
"'Cause you didn't mean what you wrote in that song about me. 'Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street," Kate searched in the crowd for Jackie who had tears slipping down her face. She nodded her head at Jackie smiling lightly at her before finishing off.
"Yeah, you said forever, now I drive alone past your street"
