The next morning.

"Good morning Daddy!"

"Good morning!  How are my girls today?"

"We're doing okay.  How are you, grampy?"

"Great!  It's my day off so I get to hang out with your mom and these beauties."

"Oh fun!  Girls you get to spend the day with grandpa!"

Elaina smiles and claps her hands.

Albert smiles and helps Jessica with the girls.

"Where's Danny?"

"Oh he's with his brother."

"Oh.. that's nice."

"Yeah.."

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah daddy, everything's fine." Jessica smiles.

"Then why are there tears in your eyes?"

"I'm just tired, that's all."

"You can talk to me, baby girl."

"I know.." Jessica says softly.

Albert didn't know what was going on, but it was clear she was upset.  Albert wrapped his arms his daughter.  Jessica laid her head on Albert's chest and cried softly.

Jessica went on with her day. While at school Danny was nowhere to be seen.

Jessica had a small break in the early afternoon where she met with Sarah and Evan.

"So where's Danny?" Sarah asks.

"I don't fucking no. We had this huge fight and I haven't heard from him since last night."

"What happened?"

Jessica sighs. "I'm pregnant."

Sarah gasps and chokes on her Starbucks.

"Yeah, same."

"You're pregnant?! With a baby?!"

"Hopefully."

"That's what the argument was about?" Evan asks.

"Yeah he's mad about it. I didn't ask for this either, but I'm not being a sick about it."

"Wow.. maybe he just needs some time."

"That's what I said too, but Sarah he's a father! He has a family! He has a responsibility. He can't just go out and get drunk with his brother while his wife and twins are at home!"

"He did that?"

"Yes! He's being a total ass!"

"I'm sorry, Jessica."

Jessica sighs. "Whatever. I can't keep worrying about him. I have kids to look after. Speaking of, I'm going to head home for half an hour to feed my little monsters and I'll be back."

"Yeah Evan and I should check in on Weston."

"I'll see you guys later. Kiss my boy for me!"

"Elaina, why are you so sad, mommas?"

"DADA!" She cries and arches her back as Jessica holds her.

Jessica sighs and readjusts her.

"He wasn't at school today?" Dorothy asks.

"No."

"Elaina baby, we don't cry over boys!" Dorothy tells her granddaughter, patting her chubby thigh.

Jessica laughs. "No we don't.  Where's dad?"

"DADA!"

"Not yours.  Put the boobie back in your mouth and eat." Jessica says sticking her nipple in her mouth then lightly patting her bottom.

"I sent him to the store to grab me a few things for dinner."

"Oh.."

"Are you gonna call Danny?"

"Nope.  He can come home when he's good and ready.  I'm not begging him.  Fine he can be mad at me and not want to be around me, but his daughters?  No. You do not pull that shit with my girls!"

The rest of the day went on uneventful.

Around 11:00 at night when the twins and Jessica finally fell asleep, Danny arrived.

He sat down on the bed and placed his hand on her hip.

"Jess?  Jessica." He whispers.

Jessica turns over. "What?  Daniel, not now.  Let go of me."

"We need to talk."

"I've had a long day, and I struggled getting the girls to sleep.  Please just leave me alone."

"Jess.. I think we should.. I think I should move out for a little while."

Jessica sat up and looked him in the eyes.
"What?"

"I'm young and this is all happening so fast."

"I'm your wife!  You got me pregnant, I didn't ask you to do it!"

Just then Elaina fusses.

"You're waking them, Jessica."

"Oh you're just blaming me for everything now!  Who is she?"

"What?"

"Who are you fucking?"

"I'm not cheating, Jessica!  I just feel overwhelmed."

"Well boo fucking hoo!"

"I love you.. I just feel we both need our space."

"Clearly you didn't feel that way when you knocked me up!  You're disgusting, Daniel!  Get out of my house!"

"I don't want to fight."

"GET OUT!"

Danny sighs and leaves.
Just then Albert ran over to see what happened.

"What's going on?  Are you okay?"

Jessica was in tears.  She ran to Albert and clung onto him as she sobbed. "Daddy, I'm so sorry!"

"What are you sorry for."

"I'm pregnant."

"You're pregnant?"

"Yeah.. it was an accident."

"No baby is an accident."

"Mine have all been accidents.."

Albert chuckles softly. "No, I mean they're just surprises.  This is another little surprise that will join our family.  It's a tiny blessing."

"You really mean that, daddy?"

"Of course I do."

"I love you." Jessica cries and hugs him tighter.

"I love you too, sweet girl.
.. Now what's going on?  Is this what you two were fighting about?"

"He says this is too much for him and that he needs his space.  How can he just run from his problems?"

Albert sighs. "He still has a lot of growing up to do."

"I just don't understand him.  How could he do this to me?  To our girls?"

"I don't know, honey.  But you're not alone.  You have you're mother and I, and all of your siblings here for you."

"Thank you, Dad.. I love you."

"I love you more Jessie girl."

Two weeks later.

"Thanks for coming with me you guys."

"We wouldn't miss this!" Dorothy smiles.

"Yeah I wanna see the look on your face when they tell you you're having twins!" Jane says.

"Oh gosh." Jessica shakes her head.

Within the last two weeks Jessica has barely heard from Danny.  The girls miss their father terribly, especially Elaina.

"Do you feel any differently with this pregnancy than the last?"

"I'm more tired.. but I am now technically a single mom of twin girls so maybe that's why."

"Single mom?" Jane asks.

"Well I don't know what to call myself!  I don't live with my husband.  He's out living that single guy college life.. while I'm home changing diapers with sore boobs."

"Let's not talk about Daniel and just focus on the bebe!" Dorothy smiles.

"Yes, this is this little ones day to shine!  We get to see you today, cutie!" Jessica smiles and rubs her belly.

"You're showing already!" Dorothy smiles.

"Mom, that's so rude!  I'm only six weeks, the baby is a fucking spec!"

"I forgot, I'm sorry!" Dorothy holds in her laughter.

"My belly still hasn't fully gone back to what it was before pregnancy and it probably never will.  But I don't care."

"You're perfect, Jessica!" Jane says.

"Yes you are!  Just ignore what I said!  I didn't mean a thing!"

Jessica doesn't say a word and gives her mother a look.

"You've done pissed off the pregnant girl!" Jane laughs.

Jessica laid back with her stomach revealed.  As she stared up to the ultrasound screen her heart ached for Danny.

"There's just one baby, right?" Jessica asks.

"Looks like there's only one!" The woman smiles.

"Oh good!  This pregnancy will be a breeze!" Jessica smiles.

Jane laughs. "Yeah we'll remind you of that later, sis."

A few days later.

Jessica sat at a Starbucks between classes when suddenly a man came over and sat with her.

"Hey.  Is this seat taken?"

"What are you doing, Danny?"

"Trying to sit down."

Jessica takes a deep breath and Danny sits.

"How are you?" He asks.

"Fine."

"The girls?"

"Fine."

"The baby?"

"It's fine!"

"I miss you."

"Do you?" Jessica gives him a look.

"Of course, you're my wife!"

Jessica looks to Danny with tears in her eyes.
"You don't just walk out on your wife, Danny.  I really thought you loved me.. I thought you'd never ever hurt me.  I should have known better."

"Jessica, I just need time."

"I'm not in the mood for fighting.  I'm hurt, Daniel.  You missed our first ultrasound."

"I know and I'm so sorry."

"I thought you would be there.  I didn't think you'd miss our baby's first ultrasound.."

"I feel terrible, Jessica."

".... It's not twins by the way.  There's only one baby."

"That's good for you.  That would have been hard to go through again."

Jessica picks up her things. "Your girls miss you, Danny.  That's what hurts more than anything.  Those two did nothing wrong to deserve this.  They're always asking where Dada is." Jessica says as tears slowly roll down her cheeks.

"Jess." Danny goes in to hug her.

"Please don't touch me."

Danny sighs and steps back. "Can I come see them?"

"Sure."

"Maybe you and I can go out?"

"No.  I don't want to."

"Alright.. well I'll see you later."

"Okay.  Bye."

Jessica told her family Danny would be stopping by.  She also told them to just stay out of it when he came over.  Jessica didn't want her family getting into an argument with Danny.

"Girls, I have a surprise for you.." Jessica says to the girls who were standing in their crib, and gripping onto the side for support.

"Mama?" Emilia smiles.

Danny walks in and both girls scream and jump with excitement.

"DADA!  DADA!"

"Aww!" Jessica smiles with tears in her eyes.

"My girls!" Danny walks over and picks them up.

"Hi!  I missed you beautiful girls!"

"Dada!  Dada!  Dada!" The twins repeated.

"They're so happy!" Jessica giggles.

"Uh huh.. I love you girls."

Jessica sits down on the edge of the bed and takes a deep breath.

"Have you been good for mommy?"

"No!" Emilia laughs.

Danny and Jessica laugh.

"Man these girls are speaking more and more clear!"

"Yep.."

The twins hug Danny tightly.
Danny chuckles. "They're not gonna let me go!"

"Nope.."

"Can I stay here tonight?"

"I don't want any of this back and forth, Danny.  If you want to come back we have to work on us before that happens.  You can't just spend the night and we start fighting in the morning.  These girls don't deserve that."

"I don't wanna leave them."

"You've already done that.  You should have thought about that before.  You have until their bedtime, Danny.  I'm gonna go take a bath.  Just enjoy your time and leave me out of it."

Danny watched Jessica walk into the bathroom.  He was then ripped away from his trance.  The girls played with his hair and cheeks.  They were so happy to have their daddy back.
