The Wilds:
Wild Werewolves (usually just referred to as "Wilds") are a faction of werewolves, that unlike families like the Hales, choose to embrace their animal side and live freely in the wild, in human form mostly, but mentally as wolves.
Wilds, like most werewolves, live in packs, ruled and lead by one alpha. These packs can range from at least 5 people, but some packs can reach numbers of over 50.
These wolves, as you'd expect from their designation, live more like animals than humans, although they wear clothing stolen from people. Most don't speak English, and any who do very brokenly.

{History}
The first known record of Wild Werewolves dates back to the 1700's, in Europe. Even back then, werewolves lived among humans and were forced to hide themselves, to repress their senses and abilities. To be human. Most werewolves were content with this idea. They did it to be safe from the humans that would otherwise kill them. But there were a few among the numbers who grew tired of hiding their true nature. Of 'submitting' to the humans who they saw as less than them.
A few werewolves, lead by strong willed Beta Michael Bennington, who later rose to become a Alpha (the first Wild Alpha), left the restrictions of the human world and vanished into the wilderness. They quickly adapted to living within the woods, and soon after, the idea of living Wild, where werewolves could run free and shift and live as themselves quickly spread to other werewolves all around the world. And before long other Betas were abandoning their packs to form new ones in the wild, Omegas outcast from other packs joining them in order to have a people.
Initially there was much opposition to the idea of werewolves living in such a "demeaning" and "disgusting" way as some put it. Some Alphas even set out to force the newly dubbed "Wilds" to return to civilised society.
The Wilds, already a strong people despite them only being a civilisation for a few months, resisted this. They fought against those who tried to bring them back to the human world, which unfortunately escalated over months into a Civil War. "Domestic" werewolves (as they started calling themselves to differentiate from the others), vs the Wild Werewolves.
The fighting never really consisted of the Wilds attacking others. Usually the Domestic Werewolves would track the Wilds to wherever they happened to be camping and a fight erupting that way. The battles were so brutal, they say the ground was stained red for the rest of time.
The conflict became intense. So intense that it attracted the attention of Hunters who feared the Werewolf Civil War would leave innocent humans caught in the crossfire. Hunter families (including the ancestor Argents) started tracking both Domestics and Wilds alike, the casualties the Hunters caused more severe than those of their Civil War. The Hunters threatened the lives of all Werewolves.
Begrudgingly, the Domestic Werewolf's highest ranking Alpha of Europe, Carlisle Watsford, was forced to correspond with the Wilds' leader, Michael, to have their peoples join forces to fight the Hunters. The Wilds reluctantly agreed.
With their combined forces the Werewolves were able to eliminate most of the Hunters that occupied the area and threatened them, and those who remained saw by the bloodshed, and by the power and threat of the wolves that retaliation would be foolish. The Hunters (for now), were no longer a threat.
Once the battle was done, Michael intended for he and his Wilds to resume their newfound ways, their freedom. But Carlisle was still adamant to stop them doing this. To have some "self respect" and "respect and dignity for their kind" as he put it.
In response to this, Michael slaughtered Carlisle. He ripped his innards out, before slashing his throat and tearing all his organs out for good measure. In doing this, he took his Alpha power.
Michael Bennington, then becoming the first Wild Alpha, presented Carlisle's head to the horrified Domestics as a warning: to leave his people be. Not to try to stop or control them. Because they would slaughter whoever crossed them without question.
After that confrontation, all Wild packs vanished into the wilderness. Off the grid, cut off from others and were rarely seen again.

{Present Day}
Since the Werewolf Civil War, Wild Werewolves have remained almost completely separated from the human world, and from their domestic cousins who still live among the humans. Domestics rarely talk about their Wild cousins or really acknowledge their existence, although some history books still speak of Wild Werewolves and their war. Some even detail their ways, written by Wilds themselves before literature was lost to them.
Wild packs now exist all over the world, though they are almost never seen. They live deep in the woods and mountains, and the only ones to ever come across them are either Hunters, or unfortunate humans who accidentally cross paths with Wilds. This usually ends in the humans' rather violent death, and their clothes taken by their attackers.
As the years went on and new generations were born, speaking and writing gradually faded out. Wilds didn't need to talk to communicate. Werewolves can sense impressions from others, through actions and feelings and body language. That is how Wilds communicate. Through their senses and touch. Some Alphas and higher ranking members of the Packs still still speak some English.
Because of the lack of speech, Wild Werewolves don't have names. They don't need them.
The Wilds' way of life is all about survival. The wilderness is no forgiving place and only the strongest and smartest make it. They feed on any animal they can hunt and kill. Wilds aren't fussy, as long as it's meat it's dinner.
Unfortunately for some poor humans before, they have become food for Werewolves when they've crossed paths during a hunt.
Shamefully, and though many Wilds are ashamed of it, during the harshest winters and shortages of food, some packs have even resorted to cannibalism to survive. They'd eat the weakest pack members to live. It is a great shame to the majority that had to do so, but survival requires sacrifice.
Wild Werewolves' eyes are typically the standard golden, but the steel blue isn't uncommon. With cannibalism and killing humans part of their ways it couldn't not be.
The Packs are still ruled over by a single Alpha, who is always the most brutal and strongest of the pack. Because to be Alpha you have to kill the previous one. Kill them and you're the leader. No debate.
The Alpha's word is law. Those who disobey are punished and sometimes even killed depending on the crime.
For more minor things, a simple scaring or beating from the Alpha usually suffices. For more serious things, like murder or mutiny, there is banishment from the pack.
But in some packs, ones ruled by the most sadistic and brutal Alphas, they have the worst punishment known to Werewolves.
They call it a Traitor's Mark.
The accused is pinned by others as the Alpha uses their claws to carve the revenge spiral into their flesh, so deeply and so roughly and that in a way (like when werewolves get tattoos) that is so excruciatingly painful that it scars forever. It is the greatest pain any wolf can experience.
It is so horrific that most packs forbid it's practice, but a few Bad Alphas still use it.
Wilds know to fear Alphas. Every Wild Alpha (including Michael Bennington) had a darkness to them. They call it a "dark spark". Wilds see this sort of darkness around Alphas, like a shadow around their hearts, that they get from becoming Alphas. Wilds believe that no Alpha can be good, because the "dark spark" within them will corrupt them no matter what.
One of the worst Alphas, known for his brutality and abuse of his betas uses the Traitor's Mark, and has made many believe in the idea of "dark spark". He is known through his reputation of torture and ruling through fear.
He is known only as the "Bad Alpha".
He inflicted the Traitor's Mark on Rumi, a 21 year old Beta, after she mercy killed her mother, who he was infatuated with greatly. Rumors suggest that he even murdered Rumi's father to try to claim her mother as his own. And when she died he took his fury out on poor Rumi instead.
Now, Rumi is in Beacon Hills, having fled her Wild Pack and is under the care of Derek Hale. But with the Bad Alpha and the other packs still out there, who knows if they could find their way to the town.
