Ch1. The Wolf's Moon
The scene opens to show the dark woods late at night as several Beacon County Sheriff's Department deputies pull up to the Beacon Hills Preserve in their police cruisers. At least a dozen officers get out of their vehicles, some with K9 unit dogs that are barking and whimpering amidst the radio chatter. Flashlights in hand, the deputies begin their search in the woods while, at the same time, a pair of glowing red eyes appears from within the shadows, gazing upon the officers without them noticing until the eyes disappear from view.
Meanwhile, the scene changes to show both Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski walking in the same preserve as they try to find the other half of a woman's dead body.
Scott: Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?
Stiles: (looks somewhat sheepish in response to this question) Huh! I didn't even think about that.
Scott: And, uh... what if whoever killed the body is still out here?
Stiles: (embarrassed) Also something I didn't think about.
However, before anyone could say anything, they both see a group of people ahead of them waving flashlights around as part of the search. Both Stiles and Scott dive behind a large fallen tree branch as they plan their next move, turning off the flashlight so they don't attract attention. Unfortunately for them, Stiles' impatience eventually wins out, and he jumps up and runs toward the action while Scott falls behind him. As Scott tries to get Stiles' attention, a nearby K9 officer starts barking at Stiles, scaring him so much that he falls backward onto the ground. The deputy with the search dog immediately points his flashlight at Stiles as he tries to recover from the shock, until Noah Stilinski, Stiles' father and the Sheriff of Beacon County, walks up to them.
Deputy: (aims his handgun at Stiles) Hold it right there!
Noah: Hang on, hang on. This little delinquent belongs to me. (See his son getting up)
Stiles: Hey Dad, how are you doing?
Noah: So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?
Stiles: (laughs sheepishly) No. (Sees his father giving him the look) Well, not the boring ones.
Noah: Now, where's your usual partner in crime?
Stiles: Who, Scott? Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow. It's just me... In the woods... Alone...
Noah: (lifts his flashlight and tries to get a look around to find Scott) Scott, you out there? Scott? (sighs before grabbing Stiles roughly by the back of the neck and steering him toward the entrance to the preserve) Well, young man, I'm gonna walk you back to your car... And then you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called "invasion of privacy."
At the same time, Scott is shown hiding behind a tree as he quietly walks in the opposite direction from where both he and Stiles came into the woods. However, deep within the woods, the scene changes to show a battle between two very large werewolves, one of which has a shorter snout while the other has a longer snout that resembles that of an actual wolf. The two werewolves continue to claw at one another until they both notice Scott McCall fall down a hill, which causes the short-snouted werewolf to charge at Scott while the long-snouted werewolf does the same.
Scott then notices the two large wolves charging at him, which causes him to fall backward onto the ground as he tries to crawl away, only for the short-snouted werewolf to grab onto Scott's ankles and pull him backward. However, it is then that the long-snouted werewolf pushes the other werewolf out of the way before biting Scott's right shoulder, causing Scott to yell in pain. As Scott runs out of the woods, the two werewolves face one another, glaring and snarling at each other until the short-snouted werewolf runs away, while the other werewolf stays behind and lets out a loud howl.

After the opening, the scene changes to the next morning and shows James and Derek burying Laura's body in the backyard of the Hale family house.
James: Derek, I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect your sister.
Derek: It's alright, James. It wasn't your fault. So, did you kill the werewolf that murdered my sister?
James: Unfortunately, no, he got away, but I do know that she was cut in half when I found her, so I think that the Alpha killed her, and then the hunters got to her. However, there was someone else there that night—a human—but I managed to turn him into my beta before the other Alpha could do it. The downside is that he is in high school, but I know a guy who can help me get in.
Derek: (starts laughing) Well, don't do anything stupid while you're there, Jimmy?
James: First off, don't call me Jimmy, and secondly, you're a bitch.
Derek: (smirks) And you're a dick. (Bro hugs James) It's good to see you again, man.
James: You too, Derek.
James walks to his car, which is a 1967 Chevrolet Impala, and drives to meet up with an old friend. After going to Alan Deaton to help him get enrolled in the school, James then makes his way to Beacon Hills High School. When he arrives, he accidentally bumps into a girl with curly dark brown hair, which causes both of their bags to fall. They then start helping each other by picking their stuff up.
James: Sorry about that.
Allison: No, I'm sorry too; I should have watched where I was going. (Picks up the last book and puts it in her bag while James does the same; smiles) Thank you, my name is Allison Argent. What's your name?
James: (smiles) You're welcome, and my name is James Howard. It's nice to meet you, Allison.
Allison: Oh shit, when we were helping each other pick up our stuff, I just remembered that I didn't bring a pen with me.
James: Well, you can have one of mine, and don't worry, I have a spare. (Reaches into his bag and takes out a pen before giving it to Allison)
Before Allison could say anything, the Vice Principal walked toward them and then brought them to their class while they talked about their lives. Once the Vice Principal brought both James and Allison to their English class, he then decided to introduce them to the other students.
Vice Principal: Class, this is our new students, James Howard and Allison Argent. Please do your best to make them feel welcome. (Sees James and Allison take their seats next to each other)
Allison: (turns to James; smiles) Thanks for the pen.
James: (smiles) You're welcome.
Once class is over, Allison immediately hits it off with Lydia and becomes friends with her while James decides to head to the lacrosse field with several of his classmates; namely both Scott and Stiles.
Timeskip
The scene changes to show the lacrosse field as many of the players are warming up while the other students congregate in the bleachers to watch them play. At the same time, James is shown walking up to Coach Bobby Finstock.
James: Excuse me, Coach Finstock, but I was wondering if I could try out for the lacrosse team? I know that I wasn't here last semester, but I do have experience playing a couple of sports at my previous school.
Bobby: Well, what sports have you played?
James: Basketball was the first sport I ever played, and I managed to win the championship game. Later, I tried boxing, which was pretty decent. I even played a little bit of lacrosse in my backyard with a couple of friends in my neighborhood, but there was no lacrosse team at my old school.
Bobby: I see. That's better than nothing. (Picks up a spare jersey, helmet, shoulder pads, gloves, and a lacrosse stick as he hands them to James) Go join the others before I change my mind.
James: (grabs the equipment and notices that his jersey number is 42, which causes him to smile) Small world. Thanks, Coach, and by the way, my name is James Howard.
Bobby: Yeah. Yeah. Go on now.
James then quickly puts on his lacrosse gear and makes his way towards his teammates. During the practice game, both James and Scott show off their skills, which impresses everyone watching them, including the coach. After school, James is shown driving down the road late at night in the rain until he notices Allison parked on the side of the road, waving him down to stop, so he pulls over to the curb.
James: (rolls down his passenger window) Allison? Wha-...
Allison: James, I'm sorry, but I didn't see it. I took my eyes off the road for, like, two seconds to change the song on my iPod, and then this dog just came out of nowhere! (Tears start falling from her eyes)
James: (gets out of his car and makes his way toward Allison) It's alright, Allison. Just calm down and breathe. Now, can you show me where the dog is so that I can try to help it?
Allison then nods her head as she brings James to the other side of her car, where they both see a white and gray collie dog on the grass near her car. The dog instantly starts growling at them, scaring Allison and causing her to jump backward as she grabs onto James's arm.
Allison: (notices that she is holding onto James's arm and starts blushing as she lets go) I'm sorry.
James: It's alright, Allison. Are you okay? (Sees Allison nod her head) Good. She's just scared, but I'll see what I can do and handle it from here. (Turns to the dog, and his eyes start glowing red, which causes the dog to submit to him) There's an animal clinic that is not too far from here, and I can take her there while you head home, Allison.
Allison: No, it's okay. I should come with you as the main witness and the one responsible for the accident.
James nods his head as he then picks up the dog and places her in the backseat of his car before getting into the driver's seat while Allison gets into the passenger seat. Once they arrive at the animal clinic and tell Scott what happened, James, Scott, and Allison bring the dog to the exam room, where Scott checks the dog for injuries and discovers that she has a broken leg. Scott then decides to give the dog a splint and gives her a painkiller afterward, while James decides to stay with Scott as Allison goes into the other room to change out of her wet clothes.
James: You got some interesting moves out there during that practice game. Were you always that skilled, or was that your first time playing?
Scott: Oh, uh, that was actually my first time playing, and I just can't explain it. You're not going to believe this, but I used to suck at playing lacrosse, and I even had asthma. However, all of that changed after I was bitten by a wolf last night. Now, it's almost like my senses are highly enhanced, and I'm physically fit to do things that I normally couldn't do before.
James: I see. Well, just because nobody in Beacon Hills has seen a wolf for the past hundred years doesn't mean that there aren't any out there.
Scott: Yeah. It's strange, though, as this is our first time talking to each other, and yet I feel comfortable enough to tell you about what's happening to me.
James: (smirks) I have that effect on people. Besides, those skills of yours were given to you for a reason, and whether you accept it or not, maybe that wolf bite is actually a blessing and a gift in disguise.
However, before Scott could say anything, Allison had returned, where she then thanked both James and Scott for helping her. She then pulled James to the side, where both Allison and James asked each other out to go to the party on Friday night, and they even invited Scott to the party as well. The next day, the scene changes to show James and Scott at the lacrosse field, getting prepared for tryouts when Coach Bobby Finstock makes his way to the team.
Bobby: Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on! Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season. Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!
The players then run onto the field, and they start a practice drill in which they pass the ball back and forth between each other. As the game progresses, both James and Scott show off in front of everyone and even score a lot of points, which surprises their teammates and the other students. This causes Coach Finstock to walk toward the two boys.
Bobby: Howard! McCall! What in God's name was that?
James: Just playing the game, coach.
Scott: Yeah, we were just making the shot.
Bobby: Yeah, well, you two made the shot, and guess what? (Smiles) You two made it to the first line.
All of the players and bystanders start clapping for them, while Stiles looks at Scott with a concerned look on his face.

The scene changes to show James picking up Allison and then driving her to the party. Once there, he dances with Allison for a while until he notices Scott leaving the party while he holds his head in pain. After telling Allison that he will be back, he then told Derek to keep an eye on Scott and stop him if he does something stupid that could attract the hunters. Meanwhile, Scott is shown running in the woods while in his werewolf form until he gets pushed against a tree by Derek.
Derek: Stay down.
Scott: (starts coming to his senses) What's happening to me?
Derek: Shh, quiet. Too late. They're already here. Run. (Starts running in a different direction)
Not understanding what is going on, Scott takes a beat to catch on. This distraction ends up working against him when a flash-bang arrow flies past him, blinding him momentarily. As he recovers, another arrow is shot at him, which goes through his left forearm and pins him to the tree. Suddenly, a group of three middle-aged male Hunters steps out of the shadows, with the leader, Chris Argent, is shown holding a crossbow aimed right at Scott while Derek watches from a distance.
Chris: Take him.
Before anyone could do anything, James knocks the two hunters away in a blink of an eye while Derek takes Scott with him. Chris is shown aiming his gun at the darkness until he gets tackled to the ground by James who holds him in place.
James: Whoa, easy tiger. You might hurt yourself. (Starts smirking)
Chris: James? You scared the shit out of me.
James: (chuckles to himself) Well, that's because you're out of practice. (Gets leg sweeped and pinned to the ground by Chris) Or not.
Chris: (smirks as he stands up and pulls James up to his feet) It's good to see you again man and I'm guessing that you're here because of the Alpha, right?
James: You too, Chris. Yeah, I am. That alpha killed Laura and had taken her alpha spark, and whoever they are they will pay for it in blood.
Chris: I see and I'm sorry that the other hunters had sliced her in half to lure Derek here.
James: Don't apologize for them Chris. You and your wife are the only two hunters that actually follow the code, while the rest of your family as well as the other hunters don't.
Chris: You still think that someone in my family is responsible for the fire?
James: Your father is on the top of my list, Chris. As he is the one who had blinded my best friend and has even tried to kill me on multiple occasions since I've known you and your family. I don't have any proof yet, but once I do I'll share it to you.
Chris: Very well. I should head back and so take care old friend.
James: You too, Chris.
Meanwhile, the scene changes to show that both Derek and Scott have arrived at a safe distance, with Scott turning back into his human form and turns to face Derek.
Scott: Who were those guys?
Derek: Hunters. The kind that has been hunting us for centuries.
Scott: Us? You mean you! You did this to me!
Derek: Sorry, Scott but I'm not the one that bit you. (Notices James walking towards them) He's the one that did it and by the way, the bite is a gift.
Scott: (turns to see James walking up to him and is both shocked and angry) You!? You did this to me?!
James: Yeah, I did. But I had a good reason for turning you.
Scott: (Stands up and faces James) A good reason?! This is all your fault! You ruined my life!
James: What I did to you was better than what that other alpha wanted for you. If he had bitten you then he would have forced you to listen to him, and he would make you do things that you don't want to do. However, because I am the one that bit you I can help you learn how to control it, Scott.
Scott: But I don't want this.
James: I know. I was like you, bitten by an Alpha werewolf and forced to transform on a full moon, but I had to learn how to control it by myself as I didn't have anyone to teach me. However, this time I'm going to help you cause you and me, Scott? We're brothers now.
Scott: (starts thinking about his mom and tears start forming in his eyes) My mom can't see me like this. Like... (Starts crying as he realizes what he is and he doesn't want his mom to find out)
James: Like a monster. (Places his hands on Scott's shoulders as he looks at him) You're not a monster you're a werewolf (his eyes glow red) like me.
James and Derek then take Scott home and then went their separate ways.
Timeskip
The scene changes to the next morning with Scott leaving his house and seeing James waiting for him in his car while Stiles is in the passenger seat.
James: Get in.
Scott: (gets into the backseat) Stiles, I'm sorry I didn't listen to you when you told me to not go to the party.
Stiles: (smiles) Don't worry about it, man. Just going forward from now on that you'll listen to me.
Scott: (smiles) Sure. (Notices a box filled with cassette tapes) Hey, James why do you have cassette tapes back here?
James: What's wrong with my cassette tapes?
Scott: Well, for one they are cassette tapes. And two: (starts picking up the various tapes) AC/DC? Journey? Bon Jovi? It's the greatest hits of mullet rock.
James: Car rules, Scotty. Driver picks the music, backseat shuts his cakehole. (Picks up a Bon Jovi cassette tape and puts it into his car, while Stiles starts laughing)
Scott: Don't call me Scotty, cause that doesn't sound right. It's Scott, okay?
James: (starts playing "Wanted Dead or Alive") Sorry, I can't hear you. The music is too loud. (Starts driving to the school)
Once school is done, James waits outside for Allison and when he finally sees her leaving the school, he makes his way toward her.
James: Hey, Allison. I'm sorry I had to cut our date short at the party.
Allison: (smiles) Hi, James. And it's okay I know that you wanted to make sure that your friend was okay. How is he?
James: He's fine. He had a really bad headache and wasn't feeling well.
Allison: Well, I hope he gets better. (Sees her dad drive up to the parking lot) That's my dad. I better go. And next time we can go out on another date if you want?
James: (smiles) Sure, I like that.
Allison then walks to her father's SUV, while Chris stares at James in shock who stares back at him with a smirk on his face. Chris then gets into his driver's seat and makes his way back home. The scene turns black and the credits are shown.
________________________________________
Chapter 1 is done. This took a long ass time to make, but it was worth it in the end. Also, James' jersey number is a reference to the same number that Scott had in the original Teen Wolf movie, which it was 42. Season 1 of this book is going to be very different from the original as it's not going to follow Scott's relationship and his dilemma as a werewolf. But anyway thank you for reading, please comment, vote, and suggest anything that you would like to see and I'll see you in the next chapter, Predator signing off.
