PART 8
I was kissing Theo. I passed my hands through his hair and he smiled and kept kissing me. Suddenly I stopped and he looked at me confused.
"I feel so useless." I spoke.
"Why?" He asked brushing strands of hair from my face.
"Liam. I couldn't protect him from being taken. Besides, I lied to him. Trust is the most important thing to me." I replied.
"We all lie, don't worry about that."
"And what about the other thing?" I asked looking down.
"We'll find Liam. I promise." He took my face in his hands and I smiled a little.
I gave him one last kiss and we both go out of the bathroom to go back to Malia and Stiles who were in the living room.
"Are you done?" Stiles asked.
"Is Corey done reading the book?" I replied with a question.
"Him, Mason and Lydia are working on that." Stiles replied.
"And Kira?" I asked.
The door opened and Scott walked in.
"Hey, is Kira okay?" Stiles asked him.
Scott kept walking completely ignoring him. He went up the stairs and we all looked at each other confused by his behavior.
"Scott?" Theo called him.
We followed him. I ran to catch up and saw Scott walk towards Corey, taking his claws out.
"Scott!" I yelled.
"No, don't!" Lydia yelled.
Scott dug his claws in the back of Corey's neck. He had been in the lab where Liam and Hayden were. Corey was another Chimera. Corey gasped and his eyes widened.
"Don't get too close." I ordered.
We saw Scott wince and frown with his eyes closed. He was looking at Corey's memories.
"What is he doing?" Theo asked.
"Tapping into Corey's memories." I replied.
"It's usually something only Alphas do." Lydia explained.
Theo stepped a little closer and looked at them.
"Is it as dangerous as it looks?" He asked.
"Probably more." Stiles replied.
"Does anyone know if it's working?" Mason asked.
"We'll just have to wait and see." I answered.
Scott opened his eyes and released Corey. Corey lost his balance and I held him.
"Is he okay?" Scott asked.
"What the hell did you do to me?" Corey asked upset.
"You'll be all right." Scott assured him.
"There's blood." Corey touched the back of his neck.
"You'll heal." Scott replied.
"Scott..." Stiles called him.
"He'll be fine!" He yelled annoyed and we all looked at him. "Listen...I think it worked. I saw something. There were tunnels. Pipes along the walls." He grabbed a notebook to start drawing. "There were these two huge blue pipes at the entrance. Two on both sides."
"Wait a second. I know this. I've seen it before. That's one of the tunnels we used to skateboard in. Remember my dad caught us one time and told us to never go back?" Stiles asked and I nodded.
"The water treatment plant." I added to his previous statement.
"That's where they are. That's where we'll find Liam and Hayden." Scott affirmed.
[...]
"Scott..." Stiles called him but he ignored him walking quickly towards the door.
"Scott, slow down." I insisted but he ignored me too.
"Just think for a second, okay? Mason shouldn't be going." Stiles spoke.
"It's really dangerous." I added.
"Liam's my best friend. I'm going." Mason spoke for himself.
"Oh, did you suddenly get super wolf powers? I wasn't aware of that development." Stiles spoke sarcastically.
"He's gonna get hurt. It's not safe." I insisted.
"Well, if you're not going, I could use the help." Scott spoke.
"No, we're coming just as soon as we talk to my dad." Stiles replied.
"They're moving the body. They'll have many people watching to make sure no one steals it." I explained.
"How's he gonna do that?" Malia asked.
"I don't know." Stiles replied.
"Whoever took the last body had the strength to flip the Jeep." I raised my eyebrows.
"We can bring Theo." Malia suggested.
"Maybe I better stay here. You know, in case the Doctors decide to make a house call for Corey." Theo spoke looking at Corey.
"Scott, Stiles and Lia are right. We need to slow down and think." Lydia spoke.
"I am thinking...about how Liam and Hayden could already be dead." Scott replied and I looked down.
"You could've hurt Corey. Really hurt him and that's not the point of all of this." I told him.
"I have to find Liam." Scott spoke.
Mason, Malia, and Scott walked to the door.
"Hey, text me. For anything." Stiles told Malia.
"I got it." Malia replied.
"Anything at all. Okay?" Stiles insisted.
They left the house and we looked at each other.
[...]
Stiles and I walked through the hospital halls while he was on the phone with the mechanic.
"You tell me, man. You're the mechanic. If the gas tank didn't rupture and nothing electrical was burned, then how did the fire start? Spontaneously combusted?"
I stopped when I saw Sheriff Stilinski in front of us.
"That's your answer? Are you kidding?" Stiles spoke annoyed but the Sheriff took his phone from his ear.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Dad, you gotta leave the body, okay? Leave it and let whoever wants to take it just take it. Trust me."
"Sheriff. It's not safe, it's really dangerous." I spoke.
"I'm doing my job."
Sheriff Stilinski walked down the hall and we followed him.
"Yeah, you've been real busy. Arresting people you know are innocent." Stiles spoke.
"Go home. Now." He ordered.
We got in the elevator with him.
"We're not leaving." I smiled innocently and he clicked the button sighing.
"You know, Clark mentioned something about, uh, key cards for the library." He spoke looking at Stiles. "Do you all have after-hours access?"
"Yeah. Yeah, we do. I'd show you mine, but I lost it a couple of weeks ago."
He was lying. His heart skipped a beat. Why was he lying?
I looked at him frowning.
[...]
I walked back with two coffees in hand. I saw Stiles throw something in the trash.
"Stiles?" I called him and he turned his gaze to me.
I handed him the coffee and he took it smiling a little at me.
"Thanks."
I saw him look in another direction and I reached down to the trash can to get whatever he had thrown away.
It was his library card.
"You said you lost it." I spoke.
He sighed and passed his hand through his face.
"Lia..."
"Does it have something to do with your shoulder?" I asked.
"Give it to me, please." He got up from his seat and approached me.
I walked back.
"Fine." He sighed and turned around to leave but I grabbed his arm.
I gasped as I felt memories come to me. Stiles' memories. I saw several images. I heard him scream and heard Donovan's voice.
I saw Donovan dead and Stiles looking at him terrified with blood covering his hands.
I breathed heavily and my coffee fell from my hand spilling all over the floor.
"Lia?"
I looked at him with a horrified expression and he shook his head and closed his eyes.
"Why did you get into my memories?" He asked, changing his tone.
"It was an accident. You could've told me, you know?"
"I didn't know how you'd react."
"Why don't you trust me anymore?" I asked raising my voice. "If you don't tell me what's happening to you, I can't do anything to help you!"
"I don't have to tell you everything!" He raised his voice. "I don't have to tell you every little detail about me! You don't have to know about everything I do! You don't have to be taking care of me like I'm some pathetic kid!" He raised his hands.
I flinched and his expression totally changed.
I swallowed the knot in my throat. I felt my heart drop to my stomach and break into a thousand pieces.
"Lia..." He put his hand on my shoulder.
"You don't need me, you made it clear." I took his hand off me. "I'll go help find Liam."
He looked at me not knowing what to say. Not knowing how to fix this. He couldn't take back what he said.
I quickly walked away from him without looking back. I got into the elevator and when the doors closed I pursed my lips and tears slipped down my cheeks.
[...]
I walked in the house quickly. I saw Liam and Hayden asleep on the couch. They were safe.
I looked at Theo. He saved them. I ran towards him hugging him tightly.
He wrapped his arms around me and grabbed my face in his hands. I leaned over and kissed him.
"Thank you." I rested my forehead against his. "Thank you so much." I whispered.
"I promised." He whispered and I smiled.
Scott walked up to him and hugged him too. Mason and Malia did the same thing, thanking him for saving Liam.
[...]
I was sitting outside, on the porch, watching the raindrops fall.
Liam and Hayden were fine but...
Kira was leaving. I would lose another one of my best friends.
Stiles and I had had a huge fight and he'd killed someone. He had kept all of that to himself for who knows how long. I'm sure that destroyed him from the inside.
I felt so stupid for not realizing sooner. He had given so many signs.
Someone sat next to me and I turned around seeing Theo.
"Why so sad?" He asked and I sighed.
"I'm just thinking." I replied.
He got up and I looked at him confused.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Cheering you up." He held out his hand.
I grabbed it smiling and he led me out into the rain. I felt the raindrops fall all over me. I smiled and looked up.
I looked at him and saw how he was staring at me. He had a different look. He had this sincere smile on his face and he looked at me like I was a star that had fallen from the sky. Bright and beautiful.
I splashed water at him and he laughed. He splashed water back at me.
"So you have chosen the path of war?" I looked at him challenging.
"I'll beat you this time."
"I'm not so sure about that."
He splashed water on me with both hands and I laughed.
"Cheater." I spoke and he chuckled.
We both splashed water at each other and laughed. Sincere happiness, I haven't felt it in so long.
"I won." He grabbed my waist.
"Of course you didn't." I replied and he laughed.
We stared at each other and I leaned my forehead against his. He began to move, slowly dancing while holding my waist and my hand.
I put my hand on his shoulder and grabbed his hand.
He spun me around and brought me closer to him.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He grabbed my face in his hands carefully.
A kiss under the rain. I wanted time to freeze. I wanted to stay here forever, kissing him under the rain.
If I knew everything that'd happen after that, would I do it again?
