PART 6

"My mom's book club usually has more wine." Lydia spoke.

"Well, they also probably didn't read books that cause violent hallucinations." Stiles replied.

"That's why Malia's here." Scott pointed her.

"So none of us go running into the traffic?" Kira asked.

"Or worse." Scott replied.

"Like what happened to Judy." Malia mentioned and we looked at her.

"Who?" I asked confused.

"Chapter 14." Malia replied.

"Maybe I should have my mother read it. She might remember a girl with a tail leaping off the ceiling and attacking everyone." Lydia spoke and I sighed.

My mother had been pretending she hadn't seen anything. As if she was blind or rather in denial.

"Hey, if it works." Stiles added.

"It has to." Lydia and I said at the same time and we looked at each other.

"What does that mean?" Scott asked.

"I think I saw them during my surgery." Lydia answered.

"I saw them in my bedroom." I added. "When I look at the book it's like..."

"A memory trying to surface." Theo completed and I looked at him.

"Exactly."

"Isn't that what Valack wanted when he wrote it?" Kira asked.

"If they did something to us, I want to know what it is." I replied.

We each took a copy of the book to start reading it. I looked at the cover and tilted my head. None of this gave me a good feeling. It was a strange feeling in my chest that told me that I'd regret this. I took a deep breath and opened the copy.

[...]

We kept reading the book. My vision got blurry. I sighed and rubbed my eyes trying to focus.

"Anyone feel anything yet?" Scott asked.

"Tired." Kira answered.

"I'm kind of hungry." I added.

"I think he meant the book." Theo spoke.

"Being hungry isn't a side effect?" I asked and he shook his head smiling. "I'd die for an ice cream."

"Let's finish this and I'll take you out for ice cream." Theo suggested and a small smile appeared on my face.

I turned my sight back to the book to keep reading. I looked at the letters and suddenly, they scrambled. I blinked several times and they were normal again. I kept reading and my eyelids were getting heavier and heavier, my body was starting to relax for some reason.

I saw Kira lay down.

"You're not giving up, are you?" Scott asked.

"I'm just resting my eyes." Kira replied, closing her eyes and turning off the lamp.

[...]

And that's how we ended up resting our eyes.

I felt someone trying to wake me up by shaking me slightly.

"Lia." I heard my name. "Lia." He repeated and I opened my eyes seeing Theo.

I sighed and rubbed my eyes. He smiled. I saw him hold out something to me and when I took it I saw a cup with chocolate ice cream in it.

"What a way to wake up." I smiled.

"You have to see this. Come." He spoke and I looked at him confused.

He gently took my arm. I got up and he led me to Scott's room where Kira was asleep.

I frowned as I heard her whisper something.

"What is she saying?" I asked.

"I don't know, sounds like Japanese." He replied.

"Kira doesn't know any Japanese."

Theo took out his phone and began to record what Kira was saying. We both moved closer to her.

"Do you think it's bad?" I asked.

"I hope not." Theo whispered.

"We have to tell Scott." I suggested.

"I'll tell him." He turned around to see me.

I looked at his eyes that shone a little because of the moonlight coming through the window. He looked at my lips and then my eyes.

"You need to rest." He brushed a strand of hair behind my ear gently.

"Yeah, I really do." I looked down and smiled.

[...]

"What if we need some kind of trigger? Wasn't Malia driving when she remembered the crash?"Scott asked.

"Yeah, but how are we supposed to trigger a memory that we don't remember?" Stiles asked.

"Maybe it's a delayed thing. Maybe you have to wait a couple of hours to see what happens." Scott replied.

The lights flickered and we looked at each other and then at Kira trying to see if she was the cause.

"That wasn't me. I swear." Kira assured.

"We keep an eye on each other today, okay?" Scott suggested.

"Yes, and keep an eye out for eight other potentially homicidal Chimeras." Stiles added.

"And keep an eye out for the Dread Doctors." Kira spoke.

"Or for anything that's trying kill us, which at the moment, there's a lot." I chuckled softly.

There was always something trying to kill us. Seriously, every week there was a new killer. I was starting to get sick and tired of it.

Kira and Scott walked away through the hall.

"Starting to see the appeal of a third eye." Stiles joked and I smiled.

"Nah, you're paranoid enough already." I joked.

"Shut up and keep walking." He told me and I laughed.

[...]

I was at the gym. I was doing crunches when I heard the door open. I sat up and turned around to see who walked in.

It was Theo.

He walked in and took off his jacket revealing his marked torso. I looked away immediately and when I looked back I saw him smiling.

I got up to start doing sit-up and saw him walk towards me. I tried to ignore him but I felt his hand on my waist and a chill ran through my spine.

"Try to keep your back straighter." He whispered in my ear.

I felt his breath on my shoulder. I smiled a little before looking at him.

"Did you came here to be my training coach or do you need something else?" I asked raising my eyebrows with a smile.

"I wanted to see you." He admitted.

He took my arm and I felt a strange feeling in my chest. I felt short of breath and the whole room started spinning.

"Lia?" Theo looked at me worried.

I looked around disoriented and my vision completely blurred. I tried to breathe but my body felt light as a feather. I collapsed and felt Theo catch me.

I opened my eyes, I was somewhere else. It was my house. I looked around confused. How did I got here? I don't remember driving back home.

I looked down and saw my shadow. It was tiny and slim. I looked down at my feet and saw little red shoes.

I was my ten year old self.

I frowned. Why was I here? What had happened? Suddenly? I heard screaming coming from upstairs.

I walked up the stairs. It was my parents fighting again. I peeked into their room and saw them screaming at each other.

I saw my mother raise her hand but my father held it tightly.

"Don't try that ever again!" He yelled angrily.

I saw him raise his hand and slap my mom. She yelped and looked down.

I jumped frightened and backed up a bit. My eyes filling with tears. I felt my heart drop to my stomach and a lump in the back of my throat.

My father turned around seeing me standing behind the door. His face dropped.

"Li, it's not what it seems, love." He approached me.

I looked at him terrified and walked back.

"Lia." He called me and I shook my head.

I quickly ran to my room and closed the door. I heard knocking on my door and tried to ignore it. The knocking was getting louder and louder and it echoed in my head. I covered my ears while salty tears slid down my cheeks.

"Li. Li, please open the door." I heard my father's voice. "Lia. Lia. Open the door!"

"Lia." I heard a voice and opened my eyes. "Thank God." Theo looked at me relieved. "What happened?"

"I had a memory." I murmured.

"About the Dread Doctors?" He asked.

"No...no, it had not...nothing to do with them." I replied with a trembling voice.

"Are you okay?" He asked and I nodded trying to calm down.

I heard his heart racing and his heavy breath. I smiled a little bit.

"You were worried about me?" I asked and he chuckled softly looking down.

"I almost gave you CPR." he joked.

We looked at each other for a few seconds. I started getting closer and so did he. I felt his soft lips meet mine and felt butterflies in my stomach. I grabbed his face.

We pulled back and smiled.

"I like you Lia, I like you a lot." He admitted and I smiled.

"That's good to know." I whispered and kissed him again.

He put his hand on my face and kept kissing me. It was a warm, innocent kiss.

A sincere one

I felt him smile in the middle of the kiss and I smiled too.

[...]

Malia and I walked down the stairs, meeting Scott and Theo.

"Where's Kira?" Scott asked.

"Still at the library. Stiles and Lydia are at the hospital."Malia replied.

"Doing what?" Theo asked.

"Trying to figure out what happened to Lydia during her surgery." I answered.

"How long are they going to be there?" Scott asked.

"They say they're just waiting for the power to come back on." Malia spoke.

[.,.]

"You guys try to find Stiles and Lydia. I'm gonna find my mom." Scott ordered as we walked in the hospital.

"Be careful." Theo told me.

"I'm always careful." I replied and he smiled.

Malia and I ran down one hallway while Theo ran down another.

I saw Melissa.

"Melissa, where's Scott?" I asked and she looked at me confused.

"I don't know. I haven't seen him."

A metallic sound echoed in my head. I heard heavy footsteps and electric waves.

"Damn it." I muttered.

We quickly got into the elevator. When the door opened I saw one of the Dread Doctors holding Scott by his neck.

Malia roared and my eyes glowed. He threw Scott and I put out my hand to keep him from getting hurt.

Malia kicked the Doctor and Melissa ran towards Scott who was having an asthma attack.

Malia tried scratching him and I was throwing fireballs at him but he dodged them.

He was intact.

"Malia, Lia, let's go!" Melissa yelled from the elevator.

I looked at Malia and put my hands in front of me stopping the Doctor.

"Run!" I yelled.

She quickly ran to the elevator while I was holding the Doctors back. I groaned and pushed harder making them walk back.

"Lia, run!" Malia yelled.

I lowered my hands quickly running towards the elevator while being followed. I felt the adrenaline running through my veins as I heard footsteps behind me.

"Run!" Melissa yelled.

I got to the elevator and Melissa pushed the button. The door closed just in time.

The elevator rattled a bit. I slid down the wall, sitting on the floor. I touched my nose and saw blood.

"I'm getting weak really easily." I realized breathing heavily.

"We never should have read that book." Scott spoke.
