Hurt (Derek)

"WHY DO YOU ACT LIKE I CANT TAKE CARE OF MYSELF?" I yelled.

"BECAUSE YOU CANT!" He yelled back. "You're. New born and you're not ready for this life yet! Just let me protect you, damn it!"

I stepped back. "You still don't trust me. You still underestimate me! When we spar you hold back and when I tell you something, you never believe me unless I have some hard proof! What the hell, Derek!"

He pursed his lips. "I just want to keep you safe," he whispered.

I shook my head. "Try doing that from a distance," I growled. I turned and started leaving.

"Y/n. Y/n! Don't go! Y/N!"

I slammed the door and left. In he night streets of Beacon Hills I walked down the streets, my arms crossed over my chest. I stopped as I got to the woods, rubbing my eyes and leaning against a tree.

I listened to my breathing, trying to calm myself.

I just want to protect you...

I'm such a bitch. I need to go back and talk to him. We need to talk this out. Work it out. He needs to stop treating me like a child and I need to stop acting like one.

"Okay... I'm going back."

"No you're not." A hand clapped over my mouth and I was dragged back into the woods, into oblivion. Darkness swallowed me and all I saw were red, glowing eyes. I screamed.

------
-Derek's POV-

She'd been missing for three days. Three. Days.

I was a nervous wreck and everyone was a little worried. I kept snapping at people and wolfing out, reading to beat the hell out of anyone who wished me a good morning. Finally I pulled Scott aside one day as I saw him with wide eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I caught her scent. But I don't know if-"

"Take me there," I dead panned.

Scott pursed his lips. "Okay..."

Scott and I went out and Scott lead me into the woods. Isaac and Stiles popped up. "Scott, I have an idea where she could be. Two ideas... I brought Isaac." Isaac waved. "Scott go with Isaac, and Derek come with me. That sound good?" Stiles asked. Everyone nodded.

Stiles and I jogged through the woods. He lead me to a river and we began tracking her from there. Suddenly Stiles' eyes widened and he turned. "I don't think she's here," he said desperately.

"What are you talking about? We're following her scent. I can SMELL her. She's here somewhere."

"No. Derek I'm serious don't-"

I used him aside and walked a little bit. Then I realized why Stiles hadn't wanted me to come farther. There she was, on the ground. Her skin was black and blue and her throat was the most bruised. Her eyes were closed and her skin a sickly yellow.

She was dead.

My knees buckled and my hands hovered over her body. Anger coursed through me, mixing wig pain like I'd only ever felt once before. With Paige. The emotions overflowed and I roared, my eyes burning and my hands fisting. It echoed, ringing through the woods before I slouched, having no energy. I couldn't look away from her...

"Pain..." A voice whispered. I stood slowly, turning to face the man I knew was there. "Pain is a wonder of a thing."

"Deucalion," I growled.

"Hello, Derek," Deucalion greeted.

"Why?" I growled. "WHY?"

He smiled. "I told you, Derek. I warned you... You must learn to take me seriously."

"You killed her... Because I would join your pack?" I seethed.

Deucalion smiled. "Yes. Yes we did."

I ran at him but he just blocked me, hit me over the head, then left. I fell to my knees then blacked out.

----

I woke up in my loft. I looked around and everyone was there, talking under their breath. I payed down, staring at the ceiling. Everyone realized I was awake at some point and started filing out one by one, leaving me alone.

Now it was only me and Scott.

"It's not your fault," he told me.

"Don't," I said. "Just don't."

He sighed and left. I was alone, closing my eyes and thinking about what life used to be like. Remembering her.

"Hey. Are you okay?" She asked me one day.

"Yeah... Peter's just a pain in the ass."

She smiled. It made me feel better instantly. She leaned down and kissed me, moving herself into my lap. She leaned back and wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me firmly. "It's going to be okay. He's just an ass."

I chuckled. "Hm, really?"

"Yeah."

We stayed like that for a while, just cuddling. It was nice.

I opened my eyes, and a tear fell down my face. I hadn't cried in a very, very long time. And right then, I realized something that made it hard to breath.

I loved her. I really, actually loved her.

And she was gone.

She was dead.

And it was all my fault.
