Exes and Broken Bones (Scott)

Y/n: this is for MidnigntMcCall .... Sorry I took so long 😬

-----

-Maddie's POV-

I sat with Scott on the bleachers as everyone filtered in for try outs. He held my hand, his thumb caressing the back of my hand, drawing circles every so often.

Coach came on and gave Scott orders to start try outs. Then he sat off to the side and Scott kissed me before starting to stand up.

"Look!" A familiar voice called. "The whore's got a new boy toy!" It was Max, my old boyfriend.

Scott's jaw tightened and I moved his chin so he was looking at me. "Be nice."

"Mh hm," he hummed unconvincingly. After a few people I heard my ex say something again.

"McCall sucks. How did he even make team
Captain?" Some boys around him looked at Scott apprehensively. They knew he didn't take shit.

I looked over at him and he was ignoring Max. He called a break for a second so he could get some water and the boys who'd already tried out went To go change.

I heard Max make yet another snide remark and there was a faint growl next to me. My eyes went wide and I turned to Scott. Then I realized Max was next to try out.

"Scott. Don't break him to pieces please."

"Maddie," he said back, mocking my calm tone. "No promises."

He jogged over to the net again and Max struggled as he tried to get the ball into his net. Scott smirked.

I could read lips. It was a skill Allison taught me. So when Scott mumbled "This is going to be fun," I knew what was happening.

Then his eyes turned yellow.

Oh no. This was going to be a disaster...

------

At the end of practice, Max had To go to the hospital with a broken ankle when he "tripped" and fell wrong.

In the car I turned to Scott. "Not smart," I told him.

"But worth it."

I pursed my lips. "Yeah. It was worth the watch."

He smirked. "You're mine. I won't ever let him talk to you like that and strut like a peacock and not get away with it."

"You broke his ankle."

"He fell."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Love you, Maddie."

I smiled, shaking my head. "Love you too, McCall."

He shook his head this time and leaned over, kissing me when he had to stop for a red light.

"Okay, so it was a little worth it," I added.

Scott laughed. "That's what I thought."
