Derek: Not the Monsters Tonight

I threw myself on the couch and closed my eyes.

Peter walked up the stairs. "I'm telling you we should get candy. We wouldn't have to deal with these idiots."

"And I'm telling you it's a bad idea." I groaned for the fourth time that night as stupid kids thought coming to the loft was fun. It wasn't creepy or haunted, but they liked to think so for some reason. I sighed as I heard another foot step near the entrance.

"Derek."

I sat up instantly and looked at Bree. "You're back?"

She smiled and nodded. "I even got some candy for you." She threw a bag at me.

I caught the bag and looked at her with furrowed brows. "I thought you were getting a movie."

Bree laughed as she sat next to me. "That was just a lie for you to let me get candy."

I rolled my eyes playfully as I looked into the bag. I paused.

"What's wrong?"

I looked from the bag to her. "I just thought there was a bit more in here."

Bree shrugged. "If I had more time, I could have gotten more."

I paused and looked at the candy. "Well..." I slowly looked up at her and smiled. "I do like starbursts."

                                                               ~~~~~~~
We walked down the street, looking for a house to get candy from. Bree grinned as I held her hand. "We have half a bag. Where do you want to go?"
I smiled as I looked around. "Hoooow abouut..."
"Fatty!"
I paused and looked for the teenager who said the insult. A girl began crying as the boy took her candy away. "You don't need this. You're too big for it."
Bree stepped forward with crashed brows. I put an arm in front of her to stop her. The boy gave us a strange look and ran off to his group of friends across the street. I smiled and looked at Bree. "You want to have a little fun tonight?"
Bree raised a brow. "I thought we already were."
I looked away. "That's right. We are."
            ~~~~~~~

Bree and I followed the boy and his friends to an alley. They started drinking and tossing empty bottles to each other. I whispered to Bree, and we climbed buildings opposite of each other facing the alley.

I looked at Bree and she nodded, grinning. I smiled and crawled to the other end of the alley along the roof of the building I was on. I nodded at Bree, and she nodded back. I jumped down, transforming. Every drunk teen looked at me, eyes wide. I growled as I looked at each one of them in the eye. They ran to the exit of the alley with some tripping or crawling.

Bree jumped down and growled at all of them. They screamed and ran towards me. They screamed louder as I howled. They shivered in the middle of the alley, and I walked to Bree, transforming back as she did.

I smiled as I held her hand. "Let's get a movie."

Bree grinned as she put her head on my shoulder. "That sounds lovely. Can we scare some more kids?"

I kissed her forehead as we turned the corner. I let out a small laugh. "Let's find a haunted house to hide in."
