You Get Hurt Protecting Them

Robin
"Stay here." He said in a serious tone, pulling out his communicator and running towards the bank. The alarm was ringing and people were running away from the bank in panic.
You didn't want to seem entirely useless, but you also knew you haven't done enough training to even begin to be helpful.
After a few moments of tense silence, one of the windows of the bank were blown out with such a force that glass was landing at your feet, even with you being all the way across the street.
Three bank robbers exited the bank with Robin hot on their tail. They all split away from each other, two of them keeping Robin busy while the last fiddled with something in her hands. It didn't take you long to see what she had.
"A gun..." You breathed, praying Robin would notice before it was too late. Your anxiety spiked as she took aim and Robin still didn't realize.
You made a split second decision and ran towards her, hoping you would get to her before she shot. When you were a few yards away she noticed you approaching. When you were a few feet away she turned the gun on you.
You tackled her, slamming her into the concrete and the same time the sound of a gunshot made your ears ring. You were pulled off her and started swinging in panic, thinking it was another one of the robbers.
"Whoa, Y/N, stop!" You recognized that voice and quit struggling. Robin gave you a stern look and dragged you towards the T-Car. "I told you to stay there." He said angrily.
"Where are we going? What about-" you glanced over your shoulder, seeing the other titans had arrived on scene and were taking care of the three robbers.
"To the hospital."
You looked back to your boyfriend. "Why? Are you hurt?"
He stopped walking and looked at you in shock. He looked down at you abdomen and you followed his line of sight. You paled at the sight of the large red spot on your shirt. You knew immediately what it was.
Robin began dragging you towards the car again and guided you into the passenger seat before running around to get into the drivers seat. It was then that your adrenalin had lowered enough that you started feeling the pain set in.
"Heyyy, Robin." You said tiredly, reaching a hand out to your boyfriend. You had just gotten out of surgery and was still feeling a little doped up from the anesthesia.
"Hey, sweetheart. How are you feeling?" He laced his fingers with yours, careful not to disturb the pulse oximeter that was clipped onto your finger.
You hummed, "I feel really good." Your voice was slurred and he couldn't help but smile. "Actually, I can't feel anything." You added as an afterthought. He chuckled, holding your hand firmly between his. "I'm sorry I didn't listen to you." You muttered, eyes fluttering closed.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, reaching out to brush your hair from your face.
"You told me to stay," You answered slowly, "and I didn't listen."
"Don't worry about that. I'm just glad your ok." He responded honestly. "Try to get some sleep, ok Y/N?"
You nodded with a small, "ok." It didn't take you long to fall asleep with the pain meds in your system, and even after you fell asleep Robin stayed by the bedside, holding your hand.
Cyborg
"What is that?" You asked, looking nervously over his current project. It sorta looked like a really big machine gun.
He chuckled at your nervous tone of voice. "I'm upgrading the towers defense systems."
"Is it safe to have that in here." You asked, stepping closer to it to get a better look.
"About 75%." He answered with a shrug.
The barrel of the gun was a little under hip height to you, so you had to lean down a bit to get a good look at it. Cyborg stood in front of it, leaning forward to mess with the wires a bit.
"This seems really sketchy to me." You warned again.
Cyborg turned to look at you, but during the movement he accidentally touched two exposed wires together. You both looked at the gun as it made a weird sound.
"Uh oh." He said, leaning down again to mess with the wires.
"Uh oh? What do you mean uh oh?"
The gun started making another weird sound and you nervously stepped off to the side of the barrel. You really didn't like the fact that he was standing right in front of the gun with it making that sound.
"Its powering up." He answered, quickly moving wires around in an attempt to turn it off.
Your leaned forward and pushed him away from the barrel of the gun. Unfortunately, you had to lean in front of the gun to move him away from it, and it was just your luck that the gun went off just then. The bullet went all the way through your thigh and into the wall behind you. You barely registered the sound of the gun powering down over the scorching pain running from your hip all the way down your leg.
Cyborgs arms wrapped around you, lifting you up bridal style. He was saying something to you, but the pain was so unbearable you ended up passing out.
You clicked through the channels on the tv and sighed when there was, or course, nothing on.
Its been almost a month since the incident and you were still recovering. Cyborg, who felt incredibly bad about the whole thing, vowed to take care of you until you were fully healed. You were temporarily staying in a guest bedroom in the tower so he could make sure you had everything you needed when you needed it.
You looked down at your boyfriend who was scribbling on the cast on your leg.
He, realizing you were looking at him, met you gaze. "Need something?" He asked, capping the sharpie and setting it on the bedside table.
You shook your head. "Nah. I'm just bored."
He hummed in thought. "We could play video games. I'm sure BB wouldn't mind if I brought the PS4 in here for the time being."
You hummed in thought before nodding, approving the idea.
Beast boy
"Come on, B. You're gonna get hurt." You said nervously.
He smiled at you over his shoulder and stepped closer to the edge. "You have no faith in me, woman."
You were standing with him on the roof of a small building. He brought you up here for stargazing, but after awhile he started getting bored and found amusement in playing around by the edge.
"Whoa, the ground looks so far away in the dark." He said, standing right at the edge and looking down.
You hesitantly stepped up to the edge and looked down at the ground as well. He was right. It was only a two story building, but in the dark it looked like so much further of a drop.
He crouched down, leaning forward to point at something, "Look, there's-" he let out a yelp, slipping and falling forward.
You gasped and leaned forward, reaching out to grab hold of him. Unfortunately, he chose this time to turn into a bird and you lost your footing, falling off the edge. The fall was extremely short and within a second you were landing on the concrete. The landing knocked the wind out of you and you found yourself gasping for air. With each breath you took you felt pain running through your chest.
Beast boy was suddenly crouching over you, a worried look on his face. "Oh god, are you ok? Hold on, I'm gonna call an ambulance." His voice was filled with panic and he disappeared for a moment, pulling his phone from his pocket.
You and Beast Boy left the hospital side by side 48 hours later. You took shallow breaths, holding an ice pack against your chest. Luckily, the fall only resulted in a few fractured ribs, so you didn't need to stay at the hospital for long. Unluckily, it hurt like hell to do anything.
Beast Boy was talking about how he wanted you to stay at the tower while you were recovering. "I'm fine, B. I can take care of myself for the next 6 weeks." You insisted and slid into the passenger seat of his car, wincing as your chest twisted in a painful way.
He frowned, "please? Just for a few weeks? I'm worried about you."
You sighed, wincing again from the action, before looking him over for a few moments. "Fine. But I don't want you babying me."
He nodded with a smile. "Cross my heart." That ended up being a lie.
Raven
You watched in fear and awe as the circular drones swarmed around you and the titans. There had to be hundreds of them, each with a display screen showing a certain baby faced villain. "I'd like to see you beat my swarm of death bots!" Gizmo said with a laugh before the bots all closed in.
Raven floated protectively in front of you, ready to defend you if necessary. The titans made short work of destroying most of the bots easily, but while raven was distracted by one, another got a little too close to her for your liking.
"Stay away from my girlfriend!" You yelled, punching the bot like a badass. You weren't expecting your hand to go through the display screen however. You felt electricity spread through your body and it was extremely hot for a few moments when suddenly everything went dark.
You awoke in Raven's bed. The first thing you noticed was the burning sensation in your hand and looked to see it was completely wrapped up from the tips of your fingers to your wrist. The second thing you noticed was how incredibly thirsty you were.
You groaned, climbing out of the bed to stand. Your entire body felt sore, but you still clumsily made your way across the room.
You pulled the door open and was surprised to see Rae standing on the other side with her hand on the knob. She looked shocked to see you out of bed, and then frustrated. "You're an idiot, you know that?" She grumbled with a stern look.
You wanted to laugh but your mouth was so incredibly dry. "Water." You mumbled, your voice gravely and weak.
A worried look crossed her face at the sound of your voice. "Lay back down. I get you some water." You nodded and pushed yourself away from the door frame to stumble back over to her bed. You sat with your back against the headboard and cradled your wounded arm with your good one.
It only took Raven about a minute to return with a bottle of water and you downed half of it in one drink.
"How are you feeling?" She asked, sitting next to you.
"Sore. My hand hurts like hell. What happened?" Your voice sounded a little better now but was still rough.
"You got electrocuted. What were you thinking trying to take on that robot like that?"
You shrugged. "I kinda wasn't." Things were quiet for a moment before you said, "I bet I looked cool as fuck when I punched it though."
She huffed. "Yeah. Up until the point where you blacked out and I thought you died." Her voice wavered a bit and you frowned, leaning closer to her.
"Hey, I'm ok, Rae." You reached your good hand out to grab one of hers. "Everything's fine."
She sighed, gently lacing her fingers into yours. "Yeah..." She said quietly, still not looking up at you. You gently pulled her into a hug and she leaned into your touch.
"You're right. As always," you chuckled, "I should've thought about what I was doing before I just did it. I'm sorry." She responded with a nod and you knew that meant she accepted your apology.
It was quiet for a few moments. You broke the silence, as per usual. "How fucked up is my hand?"
Starfire
You watched while the alien robot chased after Starfire, her bolts doing little damage to it. You weren't sure where it came from or why it was after her but it certainly wasn't letting up on the chase.
You were hesitant to call the other titans for back up. After all, there was only one and you've seen Star take on worse. However, the longer she fought with it the more it showed it was a lot tougher than it looked. You decided to text Robin and let him know what was up and pulled out your phone, taking your eyes off the fight long enough to send the message.
After a few moments you heard her scream and looked up to see it had her captive, it's tentacles holding her arms to her body so she couldn't fight back. You quickly hit send on the unfinished text and ran towards the alien threat, hoping to help in any way you could.
You slipped your phone into your pocket and pulled out your pocket knife, flicking it open before launching yourself onto the robot. In your attempts to stab it, the robot let her go and was now trying to get you off of it. It was whipping itself back and forth in an attempt to fling you off.
One of the tentacles managed to wrap itself around your ankle and slung you off of it. You screamed as you fell towards the ground and then suddenly everything went dark.
The doctor closed the door behind him as he left the room.
From what you could understand, you had hit your head during your rough landing and got a concussion. Starfire held off the robot until the other titans arrived and the five of them were able to destroy it. Star then carried you to the hospital as soon as the robot was taken care of.
The doctor had just brought you the results of your CT scan and explained that there were no fractures, evidence of bleeding, brain swelling, or any other structural damage. Over all, you were extremely lucky.
You looked over at Starfire who was sitting in a chair beside your bed looking confused and worried. "So you are ok then?" She asked.
You reached up to adjust the wraps on your head, "Yeah Star. I'm gonna be fine."
She let out a relived sigh. "Good. Can we leave now?"
You couldn't help but laugh. "Sorry, we can't leave just yet. They want me to stay for a few days so they can keep an eye on my symptoms."
"Oh," she said sadly before adding with a smile, "I will stay with you then."
Jinx
"Come on." You said when you reached the cross walk.
She was looking down at her phone, reading a text message. About halfway across the cross walk she stopped to type a message back. "Hold on, I can't text and walk." She muttered.
You rolled your eyes but waited by her nonetheless. You sighed, looking down the street to see a car driving towards you. As it got closer you started to get worried, realizing it wasn't slowing down.
"Jinx." You said, keeping your eye on the car.
"Just a second." She said, still typing the message.
By now the car was close enough you could see into the windshield. The driver wasn't watching the road, but was instead turned around and yelling at the two kids in the backseat. Once he was a few yards away you realized he wasn't going to stop and quickly shoved Jinx out of the way.
You didn't have time to do anything else before the car hit you, the force of the impact slamming your body onto the hood and into the windshield. The car suddenly stopped and you rolled off the hood and onto the concrete in front of the car.
You could hear the sound of Jinx yelling and it took a second for everything to really catch up to you. You realized you were laying on your chest, your head turned so your cheek was pressed against the pavement.
You groaned, having trouble moving your arms to sit up. After a few attempts you just gave up and laid there. You felt blood run down the side of your face and pain throughout most of your body, then gentle hands on your back.
"Don't worry, Y/N. Your gonna be ok. An ambulance is on the way." Jinx tried to reassure you, but her voice radiated uncertainty and fear. You just hummed in response, to weak to actually say anything back.
You looked down at a sleeping Jinx, gently twisting her hair between your fingers. She had passed out in the chair next to your bed.
You've been in the hospital for a few weeks now recovering from your injuries. Broken arm, internal bleeding, concussion, just a bad time over all. Jinx wants you to sue the man who hit you, but he offered to pay all your medical bills and you were happy with that.
She stirred a bit before opening her eyes and looking up at you. She yawned before looking at the clock. "Can't sleep?" You shook your head, before scooting over a bit. She climbed up into the bed next to you snuggling into your side, being sure to avoid hurting you.
It was quiet for a few moments before she spoke quietly. "I cant believe you saved me." You hummed in question. "You pushed me out of the way." She clarified.
"Why wouldn't I?" You asked.
She shrugged. "I don't know. I just... didn't think i was worth saving."
You frowned. "Of course you're worth saving. I would do all of this again in a heart beat if it meant you were safe." She didn't respond, but instead snuggled closer to you. You wrapped your good arm around her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
Terra
"Dude. Halloween was like, a week ago." You said with an amused smile.
"Shut up and hold the latter." Terra responded with an arm full of Christmas lights.
You rolled your eyes but did as told, holding the latter still so she can climb up and hang the lights.
Things we're fine until the lights got tangled on a stray nail. She yanked on them and the latter jerked a bit. "Careful, Terra." You warned.
"I've almost got it." She said before yanking on them again, this time a little harder. The latter jerked off to the side and she lost her footing, falling back off the latter.
You gasped, putting your arms out to catch her. Her weight was enough to send you back onto the ground, essentially breaking her fall.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry, are you ok?" She asked, scrambling off of you. You groaned, placing a hand on your chest. "You're bleeding." She said panicked.
You leaned up to see if you had blood on your chest and suddenly got lightheaded. It was then that you realized you were bleeding from the back of your head.
"Don't move! I-I'll call an ambulance." She said quickly. You relaxed as much as you could, waiting for help to arrive.
You winced as the doctor stitched up the back of your head. Most of it was numb from the medication, but every now and then one of the stitches would hurt. "Almost done." The doctor said. You gripped Terra's hand a little tighter, squeezing your eyes shut. After a few more stitches the doctor packed up the first aid kit.
"All right, all done. You don't have any broken or fractured ribs from what I can tell, at most you'll have some bruising. And you don't have any major trauma to the head so you're good to check out and go home tonight, just try not to pull those stitches."
You nodded and stood up off the examination table. Terra took your hand back into hers and walked beside you to the front desk.
She had been quiet the entire time and you were starting to get worried. "You ok?" You turned to look at her, slowing your pace a little.
"Yeah. I'm sorry I almost killed you." She said with a smile. You laughed before wincing and placing a hand on your chest. "You ok?" She asked, stopping to make sure you weren't in too much pain.
"Yeah, I'm alright," you chuckled, "Lets get out of here."
Gizmo
You coughed as the smoke around you got thicker. Gizmo pulled to towards the exit, but it was still so far away.
When the fire alarm in the mall went off you both had thought it was just a prank. Then you saw the other mall goers panicking and running towards the exits and realized there was an actual fire. Since you were both so hesitant to leave, you quickly became the only people left in the burning mall.
You could see the exit up ahead and for a split second you were hopeful. Then you saw the roof just above the exit was burning and nearly collapsed. You weren't sure if you were gonna make it in time.
"Giz." You warned, coughing afterwards.
"We're almost there." He yelled back, not even noticing the roof.
You were only a few yards from the door when you heard the roof give out. You wouldn't make it, but he could. You only had a few seconds to react and shoved him as hard as you could before jumping back away from the debris. You knew he made it. You saw him go through the door when you shoved him.
When the roof fell in front of you it sent up a cloud of smoke and hot air. You moved away from it and back further into the mall, holding your shirt over the bottom of your face.
Your head was pounding and the heat made you feel sick to your stomach. Your throat and lungs felt like they were on fire and everything around you started to get dark. You clumsily fell on to the floor, still struggling to breath as you passed out.
You awoke with a gasp, a loud siren ringing in your ears. A woman leaned over you, shining a flashlight in your eyes. You turned away from the bright light, looking around your surroundings.
You only had enough time to realize you were in an ambulance before the lady was pressing a mask over your nose and mouth. You freaked out for a second, jerking away from her.
"Relax. This is an oxygen mask, its gonna make it easier to breath." She explained, trying to press it to your face again. This time you let her, taking deep breaths of air now that you were able to.
You were trying to remember what had happened. You remembered a fire. It was hot and smokey.
"Gizmo." You said after a moment.
The EMT pulled the mask away. "What?" She asked.
"Gizmo." You said again before coughing.
She placed the mask back over your face. "Your boyfriend is following us in his car. He's gonna meet us at the hospital." You nodded before another set of coughs wracked your body. "Don't worry," She reassured, "you're gonna be alright."
