Teddy Lupin - Trouble In Time
"Happy Birthday Teddy!" Harry and Ginny cried happily.
Teddy smiled as he hugged both of them. It was just the three of them that morning. Andromeda would have loved to have been there, but she died the year before in her sleep. Teddy still is sad about it, she was the last link to his blood family, his only true family. But the months passed and the pain lessened, and now, it's his nineteenth birthday.
"You've grown so much," Ginny sighed, "I remember when you were just a little lime haired baby."
"Yeah," Harry agrees, "so small and innocent."
"What happened?" Teddy snickered.
"We have no idea." Ginny laughed. "Now come on, time for a birthday breakfast."
Teddy's breakfast was all his favourite sweet foods and drink; chocolate, strawberry milkshake, fruit salad, and pancakes.
"Mmh. Thank you guys." Teddy groaned happily as he bit into a chocolate bar.
"Not over yet. Still presents." Harry said.
"You didn't have to." Teddy said, but his smile said different. He followed Ginny and Harry through to the living room where a pile of presents was waiting for him on the table.
Opening them, he found that he had gotten a big bag of Honeydukes sweets from James, Lily and Albus, a picture of him and Victoire, a Weasley jumper from Molly and Arthur, some prank stuff from George, and more sweets from Hermione and Ron.
"Hey, what's this?" Teddy asked as he was handed a big red book.
"It's a photo album. I contacted friends of your parents to get some of these. We all thought they should belong to you, since you are their son."
Teddy opened it and smiled. He had seen many pictures of his parents, but this was the first time he had seen them as they grew up, before they knew each other.
"Dad was so much older than my mum, eh?" Teddy chuckled sadly, his turquoise hair turning lighter.
"Thirteen years. But he loved her all the same." Ginny said. Her eyes skimmed over the table; something was missing.
"Harry, where is, the other thing?" Ginny whispered.
"It's on - oh. Must still be in my study." Harry replied. "Hey Teddy, we have another present for you but it is up in my study. You can go get it, it's on my desk."
Teddy nodded. He stood up, but thinking about all the stairs Grimmuald Place had, he decided to Apparate. He felt himself being sucked into a small tube as he left he floor. He soon felt his feet hitting the ground hard, but he lost his balance and fell against something tall, hard and heavy. The thing behind him also fell with a heavy thud and the sound of gears moving.
"Ow." Groaned Teddy, clutching his butt.
The thing behind him turned out to be a grandfather clock, and an old one at that. The hands were spinning slowly, but gaining speed. Suddenly, the room around Teddy started to spin, lights and blurs flashing wildly. Teddy had to hold onto the clock so he wouldn't fall.
Then it all stopped .... just like that.
Teddy opened his eyes he hadn't noticed he'd scrunched shut. Looking around, he could see that he was still in Grimmauld Place, but it looked very dark and gloomy. Taking his hands off of the clock, he looked around ... bad idea. The clock had stood itself up, but with a missing leg, it instantly toppled over with a loud crash. The clock glowed, before vanishing. A shrill voice started screaming.
"MUDBLOOD SCUM. FILTHY BLOOD-TRAITORS. HOW DARE YOU LET THEM IN THIS HOUSE!!" Teddy knew it was Mrs Black's portrait.
"Dammit." Teddy cursed. Taking out his wand, he opened the door and ran out.
"SHUT UP YOU OLD HAG!" He screamed at her, and with a flick of his wand, the curtains closed. He smiled and sighed, she had gotten better over the years, but still cursed and screamed.
"Hey, who are you?" a voice yelled behind him. Teddy turned around and saw a man with shoulder length, curly, dark brown hair, pointing his wand straight at Teddy, and glaring menacingly at him. Teddy held his hands up in a peaceful gesture as he walked towards the man who now had a small group behind him, all adults.
"Who are you?" the man snarled, now level with Teddy. "And how did you get here?"
"My name is Teddy. And as to how I got here, you wouldn't believe me even if I told you." Teddy said, eyeing the adults behind the man. From the corner of Teddy's eye, he saw his own hair turning white, he was a little scared.
"Well, Teddy, you are in my house, and we would all just love to know how you got here." The man said, his eyes showing burning hatred, digging his wand hard into Teddy's chest.
"Sirius, calm down. I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding. Though I am interested as to how he ended up here." Another man said behind Sirius. "Come on, I'll bring him down to the basement, we can ask questions there."
"Fine, Remus, but I'm still going to be watching him closely." Sirius said before turning around and walking down the stairs. Remus turned to Teddy so he could speak to him, but he noticed Teddy looking at him openmouthed, a sad look in his eyes. Teddy's hair was back to turquoise, eyes green.
"Come on." Remus said, trying not to notice the look he was getting. "All we want to do is ask you some questions in the basement. Nothing bad."
Teddy nodded before running past his dad, who didn't even know him, and ran down the stairs. He walked into the basement, Remus following a few seconds later, stunned as to how the boy knew where to go. The room was filled with many teenagers and adults, all staring at him. He smiled awkwardly, hair turning green as he walked in.
"Sit." A man with a very scarred face and false eye barked at him, causing him to jump.
"Mad-Eye, he's just a kid, be nice." A women said. Teddy looked to see who it was. The women looked young, and had bubblegum pink hair. Teddy gasped, she was his mum, Tonks, like his dad, didn't know him at all. But Teddy, not wanting the man called Mad-Eye to yell at him again, sat in the single seat across the table from the crowd of curious people.
"What's your name?" Mad-Eye barked.
"Teddy." He replied
"Your real name." The man sighed.
"Edward. I won't tell you my last name yet, it'll be too long to explain." Teddy said quickly.
"Well, Edward, how did you get here?" Sirius asked
"Um, funny story that actually. See, I'm from the future." Teddy said. Everyone stared at him like he was crazy.
"How can you be from the future?" A plump women with red hair asked.
"Time Travel. Accidental Travel may I add." Teddy said.
"Carry on...." Mad-Eye said slowly, eyeing him cautiously.
"It is, well was, my nineteenth birthday, and I was staying with my Godfather and his wife since their two kids were at Hogwarts and the other was at a friends. But anyway, um, they had forgotten to give me one of my presents and sent me up to my godfathers study to get it. So, I Apparated up, landing on an old Grandfather Clock. I knocked it over and then the clock started working, the room started spinning ... and I ended up here." Teddy explained.
"That leaves a lot of gaps." Mad-Eye said. "And you could be lying.
"I'm not lying." Teddy protested.
"If I might, we could use some Veritasium." A man with long black as great hair said.
"Maybe. Not yet though." Mad-Eye said. "Tell us about yourself to prove you are from the future."
"Where should I start?" Teddy asked
"Tell us about, you." Remus said, looking at Teddy with curiosity.
Teddy smiled before sighing. "My name is Edward, but I go by Teddy. I just turned nineteen. I'm an orphan. My parents died when I was only two or so weeks old," Teddy explained, eyes tearing not only because of the memory, but also because they were standing right there and they didn't even know. "Um, my gran and my godfather looked after me since most of my family was killed and hated us. But recently, my gran died, so, I'm the last one in my family. And that's it, I guess."
"You haven't told us who your parents are yet." Sirius said, feeling more sympathetic towards him. "But I can guess who one of them might be."
"Really, who?" asked the plump women, also known as Mrs Weasley
"I think that your mother is our dear Nymphadora Tonks." Sirius said. "Am I right."
"Yeah. Yeah, she's my mum." Teddy said, smiling over at her.
Tonks stared at him before walking quickly over to him. He stood up and hugged her tightly, hair turning pink to match hers.
"Tonks'll have a son. Wow." Mrs Weasley said.
Tonks pulled back, smiling. Teddy wiped his eyes and smiled back as she placed a hand on his face, eyes searching it with a lost pain.
"But wait, who's your dad?" Tonks asked, lowering her hand.
"Well my full name is Edward Remus Lupin." Teddy said. He looked down, but when he looked up, he saw his dad staring at him. Not in surprise, but in horror.......
