Chapter 4

*~*~*~*~*~*in the past~*~*~*~*~*~

It was now lunch, Teddy was talking to everyone happily, as if a good looking nineteen year old with bright blue hair just appears out of the blue all the time.

As they were eating, something started to shake in Teddy's pocket. He pulled it out and gasped; it was the special two-way mirror that Harry had given him. Teddy raised it up to his face, and saw the older Harry looking back at him.

"Teddy! Thank Merlin you're alright." Harry cried

"Teddy? You got him?" Ginny cried from the background.

Everyone in the room was now staring at Teddy who held the mirror to face level, smiling happily.

"Yeah I'm alright." Teddy laughed, running a hand through his hair.

"Great, what year are you in?" Older Harry asked

"Um, I think it's 1995. I mean Sirius is here so...." Teddy shrugged, lapsing into silence.

Older Harry stiffened at the sound of that.

"When about in the year?" Harry asked, voice cracking.

"Pfft, dunno. Hang on," Teddy lowered the mirror, "hey dad, what time of year is it?"

"End of summer. September first tomorrow." He replied, still a little shocked that he was being called dad.

"What dad said. End of summer." Teddy said, holding the mirror up again.

"Ok Teddy. Do you remember all that I told you about my childhood?" Harry asked, Teddy nodded, "Please don't change anything. Am I right in saying you have told them some things."

Teddy nodded again. "Who dies, the marriages and children and all that. Your face was so funny. Same with Ginny, Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione." Teddy laughed

"Hey!" younger Harry protested from further down the table.

"Was that me?" older Harry asked. Teddy chuckled and nodded before turning the mirror around to face young Harry.

"This is weird." Young Harry said slowly, studying his older face.

"Teddy, we have a bit of a situation." Older Harry said. "Ca-can you face me again please, thank you."

"Sorry, but what is the situation?" Teddy asked.

"We can't get you back get. The Grandfather clock is one way, we don't have a way to get there to that time and back to our time in the same devise. And sadly, only I can call you on this mirror. It may be two-way, but the power is all mine." Harry said. "It's just incase you don't want us to see anything, and we accidentally do."

"Oh. Right yeah." Teddy sighed. "So wait, like the time the mirror showed me, you and Gin-"

"Stop. Right there." Harry cried.

"What, all I was say-"

"Teddy." Harry warned

"-ing was when you-"

"Stop. Stop it." Harry cried

"-and Ginny we-"

"Teddy. Shut up,"Harry hissed, "shut up now."

"-re getting freaky o-"

"TEDDY FOR THE LOVE OF MERLIN SHUT UP." Harry yelled. Teddy, as well as most the people in the room laughed. "What would your parents say?"

"I'd say 'I don't want you to finish that sentence." Remus said.

"I would also say that ... before quickly changing my mind and ask you to finish it." Tonks laughed.

"Oh. Hello Tonks, Remus." Harry said, just remembering who would have been there.

"Hello Harry."

"Wotcher Harry."

"Harry, time to go. We need to get Lily." older Ginny cried from the background.

"Right. Um, Teddy, I'll keep you updated on what's happening back here but that's all. I can't let everyone know about this. Losing a Lupin won't go down well." Harry laughed. "I'll talk to you soon. Bye Teddy. And everyone."

Most people muttered 'bye' as the mirror went black before showing Teddy's reflection. A million questions erupted around Teddy, hurting his head.

"Woah woah woah. One at a time, please, sensitive hearing." Teddy yelled.

"Sorry." Hermione and the kids said.

"What does Harry mean that it's bad that he 'lost a Lupin?" Remus asked.

"Well, you two are famous now. I am as well since I'm your son. Both of your stories are know by everyone. Some have been exaggerated and changed, but your lives in most people's eyes, stayed the same." Teddy said, "and, you two are on the back of a special Chocolate Frog card. Here, look."

Teddy took a card from one of his jean pockets and handed it to his mum. Remus sat beside her, and they both held the card, their happy faces on the front. Smiling, they turned it over and read the back, which said;

'Remus John Lupin and Nymphadora Lupin (née Tonks) both fought in the Second Wizarding War. Their relationship was risky and had many dark times. But as Auror's, they were used to danger. Remus was a werewolf, one of the Marauders, former DADA teacher of Hogwarts, and a dedicated member of The Order of the Phoenix. Nymphadora (or more commonly known as Tonks) was a Metamorphmagus (able to change her appearance at will) joined the Order in 1995. She was the youngest member of the Order, and thirteen years young than Remus, but that never stopped her loving him. The two got married in the summer of 1997, just after the Death of Albus Dumbledore. Nymphadora soon fell pregnant with their one and only child, Edward (Teddy) Remus Lupin, named after her father, Ted Tonks who had been killed a few weeks prior. The couple were killed at The Battle of Hogwarts on the 2nd May 1998, (Remus aged 38, and Tonks just 25,) leaving Teddy in the care of his grandmother Andromeda Tonks (née Black). Nymphadora was killed by her aunt Bellatrix Lestrange and Remus was killed by Antonin Dolohov. May they rest in peace and watch over their lucky and most unfortunate son.

This is a rare card in memory of those who fell at The Battle of Hogwarts. This card is one of three of its own kind.'

The two gasped as they read the card. In about three years, they'd be married, have had Teddy, and dead. Only three years. They literally, held their own fate, in their own hands.

"How do they know all this?" Tonks asked, her voice quiet and fragile.

"I don't know if you knew it when you were still alive, but you were greatly admired." Teddy said. "By a fair few. It's mostly because you are a Marauder, dad, one of the greatest six pranksters Hogwarts has ever had."

"Six?" Sirius asked

"Well there's you, dad, Harry's dad, Fred, George, and me." Teddy said proudly.

"You were a great prankster?" Fred asked.

"The best, after dad and his friends." Teddy said, smiling brightly over to his dad.

"What's the best thing you did?" Sirius and the twins asked.

"I made myself look like Professor McGonagall and would sit next to random students, say or ask random things before getting up and leaving." Teddy said proudly. "She found out, but happily went along with it. So sometimes, both of us talked to the same student at the same time."

The table was filled with laughter. Sirius, Tonks and the twins clapped and praised Teddy for doing that. The only one who wasn't, was Remus. His mind was concentrating on the information of his death in front of him.

"So this card," Remus said, who hadn't really been listening. "Is it really all true, that later stuff? We only have three years. "

Teddy looked down and nodded solemnly. "I'm sorry, but yes. It is."

"How ... how old did you say you were, when....." Tonks asked before trailing off into silence. Her happy mood vanishing instantly.

"About two weeks." Teddy said.

Remus and Tonks looked down sadly. Teddy stood up and sat between his parents.

"Everyone, we have packing and cleaning to do, lets get to it." Mrs Weasley said with false happiness. Surprisingly, everyone left the room quickly, Sirius clasping Remus's shoulder in comfort before leaving.

"How do we get there? I mean, we don't even talk that much about personal and love stuff." Tonks said, standing up and pacing.

"You do in time, trust me." Teddy said soothingly, but Tonks kept on pacing. Sighing, he stood up, placed his hands on her shoulder and looked into her eyes.

"Mum, listen to me. No matter how hard and horrible it gets. You will get through it as long as you just be true to your feelings, and you'll be just fine." Teddy said. "Dad, you as well." Teddy said, turning around to face him as he to, was standing up, face solemn. Tonks and Remus exchanged sad glances, tears beginning to fall rhythmically from her eyes. Sniffing, Remus pulled Tonks and Teddy into a loving and warming hug, one which they all needed.

Although they weren't a proper family yet, Teddy was happy his parents could hug him, and he could hug them back. Tonks was happy that she knew that she would find someone to be, even if it was a little unexpected, and short. And Remus was happy that he wouldn't let his 'problem' from stopping him from having a family of his own.

In a strange way, no matter the current situation, they completed each other in a way that nobody else had ever done before.

It was proper love.

It was completion.

It was family......
