Chapter 14

Sitting at the table in the basement of Grimmauld place was Sirius, Teddy, Tonks, and Remus. All four of them were playing the muggle version of snap. Sirius found it boring that the cards didn't explode, only your hand only got slapped really hard. After many games, Teddy grew bored. He couldn't explain it, but he just had to go outside.

"Dad, can I borrow some money?" Teddy asked. "Please?"

"Depends how much you want Teddy." Remus sighed, avoiding Teddy's eyes.

"Twelve galleons." Teddy said cooly.

"How much?" Remus cried. "What do you want that much for?"

"I need to get some things." Teddy shrugged.

"Better be bloody good." Sirius said

"Teddy, I don't have that much." Remus said sadly. "I barely have enough to survive. I mean, I do have enough money, but only enough for me, I'm sorry."

"Mum, can I-"

"Not until you tell me what it's for." Tonks said quickly.

"...Stuff...." Teddy said slowly

"That doesn't narrow it down." Tonks said. "So no, you can't."

"Please." Teddy begged

"Tell you what, I'll give you six galleons and come with you to see what you are getting. If I approve of it, then you'll get the six others if necessary." Tonks sighed.

"Wow Tonks, since when did you get so reasonable." Sirius said with mock surprise.

"My parents always used that deal on me." Tonks said happily. "Meaning that I never got any of the things I wanted."

All of them, including Tonks, laughed loudly after she said that.

"Fair enough." Sirius laughed.

"So, do we have a deal?" Tonks asked.

"Yeah alright, deal." Teddy said. "If, you say you trust me as to where we are going."

"Before you answer, is it alright if I come along. There are items I need to get as well." Remus said sheepishly.

"Yeah, that's fine." Teddy said. "Right mum?"

"I doubt I have much of a choice, but yeah, it's alright." Tonks said. No one noticed Sirius's downcast expression. "But, where are we going?"

With a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Teddy smiled. "Knockturn Alley."

"No. No way. You aren't going down there." Remus cried.

"But da-"

"No, Teddy. I won't allow it. It's too dangerous." Remus said

"It's not dangerous. I go down there all the time." Teddy protested.

"In your time, maybe. But in this time, it's too dangerous." Sirius said.

"I agree. Sorry Ted." Tonks agreed.

Teddy's eyes turned red as he stood up, chair being pushed back violently, face twisted with anger.

"You guys are such a bunch of pussies." Teddy growled menacingly. "Learn to take a risk."

Storming out the room, Teddy slammed the door. The three adults just stared in awe at the door.

"He certainly has your temper, Remus." Sirius said slowly.

"Or mine. Remember when I was seven?" Tonks laughed

"Yes! That was brilliant. But you were just a moody brat back then." Sirius laughed. "Remmy here was a moody bastard when he was Teddy's age."

"I was not." Remus said.

"Rem, you were. Trust me." Sirius said

"No no, no no. I wasn't."

"Ye-"

"Just shut up Sirius." Remus sighed. "Should we make sure he hasn't left?"

"Probably. And I still need to go out anyway." Tonks said.

The two stood up from the table and went to go up the stairs when Sirius stopped them.

"Please can you take me with you. I'll be in dog form and I'll keep quiet." Sirius said. "Please, I'm begging you, let me out. I can't stand it in here any longer."

"Siri, you know it's too dangerous, we can't." Remus sighed. "Sorry."

"Nymphie, please." Sirius begged. "For your beloved cousin."

"Sirius. We can't." Tonks said. Looking down, she saw the expression on his face. "No. Don't. Don't do the puppy eyes."

But it was too late, Sirius was already in dog form, his dark eyes wide and sad. He was whining sadly and pawing at her leg.

"Sirius, stop it." Tonks said. Looking down into his dark eyes, she sighed. "Fine! But you're going on a leash."

Sirius barked happily and ran up the said.

"I hate that dog sometimes." Tonks muttered darkly as she started up the stairs. Remus smiled before following her up.

-_-_-_-_-

Teddy stormed up the stairs to his room. Searching the pockets of his jeans and the drawers, he only found two galleons; not nearly enough to buy anything he wanted. Nevertheless, he pocketed the money and silently made his way down the stairs, (by sliding down the banister mostly), and equally as silent out the door. But he couldn't go there yet, he needed the rest of the money. So, to make sure he'd get it, Teddy Apparated to Diagon Alley and waited for them in Gringotts...

-_-_-_-_-

It wasn't long until the strange looking trio arrived in Diagon Alley. Sirius had a black collar around his neck with a leash around it, it was just so it looked like he was Tonks's pet dog. Walking in a line the three entered the Bank, unaware that a boy was waiting for them. As they entered, Sirius caught sight of a small, plump man by the entrance with a long white beard and hair, wearing strange wizard robes. If it wasn't for Sirius's strong nose catching the scent, he wouldn't have known that it was Teddy.

Tonks was about halfway through the hall when the man called out to them.

"Well, you took your time didn't you." The strange looking Teddy said.

Tonks and Remus spun around. They saw the man walking towards them, but they didn't recognize him. When Teddy was right in front of them, he closed his eyes and turned himself back to normal. He smiled at his parents reactions.

"Teddy? Bu-wh-ju-?" Remus stammered

"Planning on finishing any of those words?" Teddy chuckled. "Now if you are wondering what I'm doing here, I was waiting for you to arrive so I can get my money."

"Look, Teddy, you can't go down there, it's dangerous." Tonks whispered as they walked towards the front.

"It isn't where I'm going. Please, just trust me." Teddy begged, his eyes soft and looking directly into hers.

Tonks only had time to give him an uncertain look before she had to talk to the goblin in front of them.

A few minutes later, all of them -including Sirius in dog form- were riding a cart to the two parents separate vaults. Remus tried to hide the tiny pile of gold coins with his body as he collected a few, but Teddy and Tonks saw. Guilt welled up inside Teddy's stomach as he thought about how needy and childish he had sounded earlier. When they arrived at Tonks's vault, she added a few more extra coins before leaving, just for something/someone.

"So, are we going to stay as a group or split up?" Teddy asked once they left the bank.

"We should stick together. It'll be safer and we'll know if anything has happened to one of us." Remus replied.

Agreeing, the trio and Padfoot set off for the shopping. They went with Remus's option first; the book store. Sirius was only allowed in if he behaved properly. It wasn't too bad in the shop as they weren't in there for long, it was just so eerily quiet.

Once Remus had gotten his book; a blank diary that he made sure it wasn't dangerous, it was time to find out where Teddy actually wanted to go.

"Now, we'll have to hurry to get there. The shop is pretty interesting, but we still need to be wary." Teddy warned. "Now come on."

Sirius was now in the hands of Teddy as they walked in a tight group. Many dangerous looking people sneered at them, eyeing them with suspicion, knowing they didn't belong there. Tonks had made her hair black so she didn't stand out so much, but Remus was still stood out in his light grey, tatty robes.

"Teddy, how much further?" Remus hissed in his ear as they passed a shop selling customized hangman's ropes.

"We are here." Teddy said happily, instantly stopping. It seemed to the rest of the group that they had stopped outside a random wall. But as Teddy placed his hands on the wall and started muttering under his breath, the brickwork crumbled away to reveal a dark brown door. With a mischievous smile, Teddy pushed the door open and let them in. What was inside, none of the adults expected.

"Oh ... my ... Merlin." Tonks and Remus breathed as their eyes scanned their new surroundings....
