Chapter 58 ~ She'd Be Proud
Skylar POV:
Keegan held me in his arms as I cried.
Berenice sat beside Nogla, holding his hand, whispering in his ear, waiting for him to wake up.
Evan was strapped into a seat in an ambulance besides Delirious, my cousin who was barely breathing.
Evan was still bloody as the nurse beside him was rubbing his back, trying to keep him calm.
Nicole was awake now, Luke passed out beside her, all bloodily, a bullet wound puncturing his leg. She looked dazed. She cradled her baby, murmering something, slow tears streaming her face.
Macie was in Lui's arms, him humming to her and rocking her like a baby, waiting for her to wake up.
Chrissy was completely unconscious, her chest being bruised and bloody, as Scotty kissed her forehead and whispered to her.
Everyone else was unconscious as well, except for Brian, who now sat alone beside Lonnah and Brock, looking at them.
Eventually Keegan was pulled away from me for questioning.
He was loaded into a police cruiser, and soon, I was left all alone.
Brian stood up and walked over to me.
"Skylar." he said.
I looked up.
"Brian."
He smiled.
"So we're really the only two who survived."
I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, you know, because it's not like Berenice or Craig did... Or anyone else... I mean... They're all still alive but..."
He looked at me.
"You do know that Delirious is dying, right?"
I looked at him.
"What?"
"He had a heart attack... And he won't wake up. Which means he's in a coma... He'll be in the hospital soon." he told me.
I started at him.
Tears snuck out of my eyes.
"Are you... Are you serious?"
He nodded.
"How don't you know this?"
I ran over to Jonathan's body, tapping his face.
"Jonny... Jonathan! What?! How!! Jon! Jonathan! Jonny Boy..!"
This was NOT happening.
He was not in a coma.
He was ALIVE.
He was OKAY.
He was just SLEEPING.
But he wouldn't wake up.
I started crying.
Evan stirred beside me.
"Sk-Skylar? Is Niki okay?" he asked.
I nodded.
He smiled.
"And.... And... Jonathan?"
I closed my eyes as the wetness seeped out of them.
"He isn't... Dead..." I said.
He breathed in relief.
"Thank God."
Everyone was rushed to the hospital after that.
I had walked into the ambulance, looking back one last time.
I then sighed and ducked my head, sitting down next to Evan and Delirious.
---- HUGE TIME SKIP----
*TWO WEEKS LATER~~
Delirious was only person in ER now, with Evan leaving most recently, and everyone else being better. Luke and Evan's bullets had now been removed, and they had started recovering.
Nicole was now a little past the two month mark of being pregnant. She was bigger now. Everyone was now heading to Delirious' room.*
Evan POV:
He'd had a heart attack...
He almost died because of me being shot.
He was hooked up to a majority of different tubes and a monitor.
I sighed and kissed his forehead.
I then turned to the nurse.
She checked his tubes.
"So... Uh... How long will he be in a coma...?" I asked, nervously.
She shrugged.
"From several days, to weeks, to months... Some last several years. Some go into a vegetative state, and well, others die."
I looked down.
"So he could... Be in a coma for several years... And... Die?"
Tears began to form in my eyes and the nurse walked over and patted my shoulder.
"I'm sure he'll be okay..." she said.
I sighed.
"I really hope so..."
"I really, really do."
I sat with Delirious all night long that night.
Not once did he even move besides breathing, and not once did he even flutter his eyelids.
The nurse had opened the window.
The moonlight peered in, hitting Jonathan's face.
He was strikingly beautiful...
I sat in that small chair beside him, holding his hand, and rubbing it so that he wouldn't be cold.
His pulse was weak and his hand felt like stone.
I kissed his hand one last time before glaring up at the ceiling and falling asleep.
"Sweetie, get back here!"
Nicole darted around the room, trying to grab her daughter to dress her.
I smiled and nudged Luke.
Luke cornered the little girl and picked her up, her squirming and kicking.
"Ahhhh!" she laughed.
She was finally fully clothes and she ran over to me.
"Hey, darling!" I said, putting her in my lap.
I turned on the TV and changed it to cartoons.
Nicole sighed and grabbed her daughter again.
"Evan?" she asked.
I looked up.
"Mom would be proud."
She smiled to me, my heart filling with joy.
I nodded.
"She'd be proud of you, too."
