Chapter 46 ~ You Can Actually Be There
Nicole POV:
I blinked.
"Nicole?"
I looked over to my side.
We were in Evan's house, Craig and Tyler on the couch.
"Evan?" I asked.
"I'm here. Are you okay?" he asked, holding my hand.
I nodded.
"Ev..." I said.
He looked at me.
"Yeah?"
"I saw mom..." I said.
His brows slanted and he tilted his head, confused.
"Nicole... Mother and father are dead..." he said.
"I know." I said.
He looked even more confused.
"Then... How would you...?"
"Evan, Mom saved me that day I drowned. Mom has always been here." I said.
He looked at me.
"What?" he sounded aggravated.
"Evan... Mother is watching over us. She's with us. She's always wi-"
"Oh, don't give me that 'they're always here with us' bullshit!" he stood up from his place with me in the couch.
He snapped at me?
"Because she is!" I stood up.
"That's so much shit and you know it."
I looked at him, angrily.
"She's watching us, Evan!" I yelled.
"Is this some joke?! I've been through enough Shit this week, Niki!!!" he screamed.
"Stop yelling!" I yelled at Evan.
"The funeral, the crying, the loss, the bullshit! The hate! Everyone saying she would always be with us! She was at peace, at rest, and she made it home!! That's not her home, Nicole!!!"
He had pushed away Jonathan, who had been trying to comfort him.
"THIS IS HER HOME, NICOLE! SHE BELONGS HERE! BUT NO! SHE'S DEAD, SHE ISN'T COMING BACK!! SOME STUPID ASS BITCH COLLEGE KIDS GOT DRUNK AND KILLED OUR MOTHER AND FATHER!!!"
"Evan! Stop acting like this!"
"Everyone says that. But she isn't here, and she never will be!!!" He yelled.
I saw tears roll down his face.
"Evan, I miss her, too. I miss both of them. But I saw her. You have to believe me. I don't know how,"
I walked up to him and hugged him.
"But I did."
He sobbed into my shoulder.
Delirious ran his fingers through his hair.
"I'm sorry, I had to tell you. Please believe me." I whispered.
Everyone was silent, looking over, sorrowfully, at a crying Evan.
"What did she say?" he finally calmed from his shaking and asked me.
"Never to be forgotten..." I said to Evan.
"What?" he asked.
"Ne jamais oublier." someone whispered under their breath.
I turned immediately to Tyler.
He looked down, embarrassed.
"You... You know about...?" I asked Tyler.
Evan looked up, with red groggy eyes, confused.
"I wasn't supposed to tell y-" he backed up from Mini, who looked at him.
Everyone backed up.
Was I really this scary?
"YOU FUCKING KNEW?! MOM TOLD YOU?" I asked.
"Nicole..." he sighed.
"You weren't supposed to know. That was my secret, my way to calm myself down from all the hate I placed on you!" I yelled at him.
Luke grabbed my hand.
I smacked him. (I later on apologized.)
"Don't touch me, Luke."
He backed up, too, stunned.
Craig went to grab Tyler, protectively.
"Craig, I suggest you back up or you'll get hurt, too." I said.
Tyler gulped and Craig backed away a little and let go.
"How did you know?" I asked.
"I found out myself. I looked in your room." he said, nervously.
"You went in my room? Why?!" I yelled.
"Because it was the summer that Evan was gone at summer camp and you were in the living room, and you wouldn't talk to me. I missed you. So I went in your room, trying to find some magazine or something, something that would make you feel better than your friends did!" he said.
I looked at him angrily.
"I wouldn't talk to you because you decided to just fucking dump me for my brother. So I decided that it would be better to act like you didn't exist, to lose you, then be replaced." I said.
"Nicole, I wasn't replacing you..." he shook his head and slapped his sides.
"So you say that talking to my brother, playing video games with him, and just leaving me alone, is apparently not replacing me?! That it's okay?!" I yelled.
"You told me that I was part of your family! And that family hides no secrets!" he yelled.
"YOU WERE NEVER A PART OF OUR FAMILY, TYLER!!!" I screamed and pushed him as hard as I could into the stairs.
He fell backwards onto the ground.
A sharp pain jolted in my belly.
I bent over and let out a loud scream, feeling Luke pull me back and catch me before I fell.
Everyone was running over to Tyler, but Evan, Delirious, and Luke were holding me up, asking me what was wrong.
I held my stomach.
I saw blood.... Dark, red, thick blood and I let out a scream.
I held my hand up to my face, trying to see if it was really blood.
It looked real.
I screamed and kicked and pushed everyone away.
I scooted back towards the corner and vomited a fountain of blood.
I let out a bloody scream and I fell back to the floor, banging my head.
My vision became blurry as I blacked out slowly.
Soon the only thing I could see or hear was my mother tapping my face, shaking me, trying to wake me up.
"Nicole, baby, stay with me. Stay."
I slowly let go.
Luke POV:
"Someone help me!" I screamed, watching Nicole scoot into a corner, shaking, looking at the her hand, as if something were wrong with it.
Tyler was put into the couch, but I didn't care about his condition at that point.
I lifted Nicole up and put her onto the couch with me.
Beside her, I felt a smooth brush of air against me, but I ignored it.
Nicole POV:
I had been sat on a couch.
"Listen, I'm going to be moved to memories for this, it's a huge violation," Mom had said.
"But you're going to need motivation to stay alive. I have to show you."
"What?" I asked.
"Hold my hand." she said.
"Mom?" I asked.
"Just do it, Niki Lyn." she demanded.
I sighed and grabbed her hand.
A little girl sat in my lap, her golden curls in my hand, me putting them into pigtails.
"Ow, mama, that hurts." she said, grabbing my hand.
"Sit still so I don't hurt you then." I said, hearing a man's laughter behind me.
My vision blurred, but everything soon became white, then a homey wood smell washed through the air and a darker orange color reflected off my walls.
"Mom, hand me the marshmallows."
A teenage girl had said.
"Here you go..." I said, confused.
Who was this girl?
Everything blurred again and I saw more white.
I was outside.
There were nice smells, happy smells...
Then I looked over to see a gorgeous five feet seven inch woman in a white dress, holding a man's hand.
"I do." she said.
They then kissed and everyone cheered.
"She sure looks pretty, doesn't she?"
A little girl whispered in my ear.
"She's my mom." she smiled.
I nodded.
"She's my daughter." I soon heard myself say, without meaning to say it.
I saw a man next to me smiled and grab my hand.
"Our little Nicole is growing up."
"I want to look just like that one day, at my wedding." the little girl smiled.
For the last time, blurriness swept through again.
A girl, five feet, four inches tall, long golden curly hair, standing up in the same aisle, the same dress.
She was smiling.
My visions ended and Mother let go of my hand.
Her eyes filled with tears.
"I don't want you to be watching like I do." she said, stroking my cheek.
"You can actually be there."
She smiled and everything turned black again.
