"Let me get this straight." Bryn narrows her eyes at me in disbelief. "James is not your dad and a random English dude is. And Matt's your boyfriend."

"Yup!" I chirp, taking another sip of my coffee. "That about covers it."

"I think I'm the most shocked that you and Matt stopped fighting enough to realize you were into each other," Madi murmurs as she pops another candy in her mouth.

Madi and Bryn were already asleep when I got back to our hotel room last night, and by the time I woke up, both were gone. Sam came to London to meet me and Matt for lunch, which was lovely. I can't believe I've missed out on twenty years of knowing him.

Now, Bryn, Madi, and I are hiding out on the balcony of the London venue. The boys are still in the lobby, finishing up the meet and greet, and fans are trickling into the main room for the show. The buzz of chatter and laughter rises up to us, but we're far enough away to still hear each other comfortably.

Doing Ariana's hair and makeup today was an experience, to say the least. When Matt told me she hit on him, I couldn't help but laugh. I knew she was interested from the start—I was just surprised it took her this long to make a move. As for me, I couldn't care less. She clearly did, though, and was passive-aggressive the whole time I worked on her. Good thing I don't give a single shit.

"You guys are literally the definition of enemies to lovers." Bryn shuffles lower on the couch to rest her head on my shoulder, her wide brown eyes gazing innocently up at me. "I bet your first kiss was all hot and angry."

Heat rises in my cheeks and I bury my head in my hands, groaning when Madi and Bryn cackle with laughter. "Leave me alone," I whine, sinking into the couch cushions to be level with Bryn. "You were practically possessed the first time you kissed Chris."

"I was not!" Bryn shrieks, sitting up straight to smack me with a throw pillow.

"Yes, you were!" Madi laughs, snatching the pillow from Bryn before I can. She shoots me a warning look as she tucks it behind her, clearly aware that I was considering starting a pillow fight—something that wouldn't go unnoticed by the fans below us. "But seriously, Callie... you've been through a lot these last few days. Are you okay?"

I don't complain when Bryn returns to cuddling into my side, and I playfully ruffle her hair before I meet Madi's gaze. "I'm okay, I think. I always thought James was an ass so I'm not at all sad to lose him as a dad. And Sam is really great."

"What about your mom?" Bryn whispers, her voice almost disappearing into the noise of the crowd. "When are you going to talk to her?"

I shrug, a knot of nervous butterflies stirring in my stomach. "I'm not sure. I know everything's changed, but I don't want things to change with her. Once I talk to her, there's no going back."

"I hate to say it, but there's no going back either way," Madi adds softly, nudging my knee with hers. "I know it sucks that your mom lied to you, but you've always spoken so highly of her. There must've been a reason she kept it from you."

"Yeah, I know," I exhale slowly, letting my head fall back against the couch. "I think I'll wait until I can talk to her in person."

"We're here for you, you know that right?" Bryn tilts her chin up to look at me, and the soft look on her face makes my heart squeeze.

"I know," I whisper, suddenly resisting the urge to cry. "Thanks. I, uh... I love you guys."

Bryn and Madi beam at my words, but instead of the frantic excitement I know they want to show, they simply whisper, "We love you too." And somehow, that means more to me than they could ever know. I've never been great at expressing my affection for people, but things have shifted since I met Bryn. She was the first person to show me what true friendship looked like in a long time. Not only did she force her way into my life, but she also welcomed me into her circle of friends. And one by one, Madi, Nick, Nate, Chris, and Matt have wormed their way into my heart. So much changed long before I found out the truth about my family. And honestly, I wouldn't trade any of it for the world.

"It's my beautiful girlfriend!" Chris whisper-shouts as he skips out of the stairwell onto the balcony.

"It's my handsome boyfriend!" Bryn's eyes sparkle as she shifts up on the couch to greet Chris with a kiss.

I wrinkle my nose when Chris plops down on the couch beside Bryn, immediately pulling her away from me into his own arms. "Territorial much?"

"Girlfriend stealing much?" Chris shoots back, tightening his grip on Bryn, who is giggling. "Go cuddle with your boyfriend."

"Her boyfriend doesn't think it's necessary to cuddle in front of all their friends." Matt's voice sends a tingle down my spine. I glance over my shoulder to see him walking towards us with Nick by his side. Matt's eyes lock on mine, a tiny smirk playing at the corner of his mouth. "Callie."

"Matt," I greet him, a small smile tugging at my lips.

He playfully shoves my head, and I swat his hand away with a scowl. Our eyes meet for a brief, charged moment before we both turn back to our friends, who are staring at us with wide, open mouths.

"What?" Matt snaps, crossing his arms defensively.

"You two are going to be so different from Chris and Bryn," Nick says, shaking his head incredulously. "Not that I'm complaining. The less I have to see of my brothers being sappy, the better."

"I'm not sappy!" Chris barks, his brows furrowing in protest.

"Yes, you are," everyone answers in unison, including Bryn, who looks at Chris with a teasing grin.

Chris and Nick slip into an argument about how sappy Chris is, and Bryn quickly gets involved, caught between her boyfriend and her best friend, both wanting her to side with them. The debate grows louder, and in the chaos, none of them notice when Matt subtly gestures for me to follow him into the stairwell.

Madi slaps my ass as I pass her, a cheeky wink in her eyes, and I flip her off without missing a beat. She laughs but says nothing, letting Matt and me slip away undisturbed.

As soon as we're out of sight and earshot of our friends, Matt's hands are on my hips, his chest pressing into mine as he pushes me back against the cool, concrete wall.

"I'll be the best boyfriend, but I'm never going to be sappy," Matt says, his voice low and firm, his eyes narrowing as if daring me to disagree. "That shit is corny."

I slide my arms around his neck, my grin widening as I tilt my head, studying him. "Hey, you don't have to argue with me about that. I'm definitely not going to be sappy either. Bryn and Chris can handle enough of that for the rest of us."

Matt's lips twitch at the corners, though his gaze doesn't soften. "Good. I'm glad we're on the same page."

"Glad we agree," Matt murmurs, his breath hot against my lips before he dips his head and pulls me into a kiss.

It doesn't take long before I'm completely lost in the world that is Matt: his rings, cold against my stomach as his hands slip under my shirt, the fresh scent of pine and peppermint swirling around us, the heat of his mouth on mine sending jolts of fire through my veins. He is so intoxicating, so addicting, that I fail to hear the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs towards us.

It's the sharp, dramatic clearing of someone's throat that jolts me back to reality. I pull away from Matt, our breaths ragged as we scramble to regain air, our eyes widening when we realize we're not alone.

Nate stands in the stairwell, arms crossed, shaking his head in exaggerated disappointment. "I convinced Bryn to tell Chris how she felt, and I got rewarded with the sight of Bryn straddling Chris in bed in Laguna. And now, I convince Callie to admit she likes Matt, and here I am again, being treated to an image I wish I could unsee. I need new friends."

He doesn't even give us a chance to respond before he continues up the stairs, muttering to himself.

Matt lets out a soft laugh, his eyes gleaming with amusement and his cheeks flushed with the remnants of our kiss. He looks back at me, an almost playful gleam in his gaze. "Think we should go apologize?"

I smirk, pulling Matt closer, my hands lingering against his chest. "He'll get over it."

With that, I tug Matt back into another kiss, not caring about anything else. After all, I've got a hot boyfriend, and I plan to make the most of it.
