Chapter 9 - Out of the shadows
Peril's POV
"She is?"
Clay had told her everything. Peril found herself not being that surprised though.
"Yes, she is." The MudWing sighed. Peril could tell he was wishing he could see the egg, wishing that Glory was here with him.
"You can always visit her," Peril nudged his snout with hers. He gazed down at her, conflicted.
"I'll be fine with you gone."
"But still, we have to tell. Before I even think about leaving." Peril nodded.
"Since Glory has told us, I feel more confident. We can do it, too. I just done't know... Will it be too much? I mean, two big changes coming at them. Could they take it?" Peril cocked her head, thinking.
"I'm sure they can. I mean, you guys took on THE WHOLE CONTINENT. I'm sure they'll manage it."
"Yeah, but this is different. This is more personal, do you know what I mean?
"Yes, I do." Peril ran her claws along the outside of the egg. It was warm, the reds, yellow and oranges swirling around the brown.
They sat in silence, blue and amber eyes locked. There was nothing else to say, but Peril wanted Clay to stay with her. She wanted Clay to stay with her forever.
"We'll tell them tonight," Peril said finally. Clay silently agreed, unwrapped his tail from Peril's and left the cave.
Peril was actually starting to get bored on her own mot of the time. At first she had been so concentrated on looking after the egg that she didn't care. But now... She was missing Turtle and Moon and even Qibli and Winter, though she couldn't see Winter anyway. She wished they would come visit her soon. She wished she could tell them.
...
"Umm... Clay. How am I going to go out?" Peril and Clay knew she could. They both knew what Peril was really saying was she didn't want to leave the egg.
"I'm sure it will be safe. Why would anyone want to come in here, anyway?"
"That's true." Peril cast one last glance at they egg before she hurried after Clay.
It was a tranquil evening, and they stars shimmered and danced in the navy blue sky. Two of the moons were out and full, with the other hiding away.
Everyone was asleep, from what Peril could see and hear. Everyone apart from her, Clay, and the rest of The Dragonets of Destiny.
"Hey, Clay, Peril," Sunny yawned from her small perch. Tsunami still was thoroughly shaken; She hardly looked up. Starflight pricked his ears and mumbled out a greeting.
"What brings you here, Peril?" Starflight said quietly. Sunny shifted and seemed to become more awake.
"Errr..." Peril looked from Clay to Sunny, Tsunami and Starflight.
That same, stupid lump was emerging in her throat. She had hardly been able to tell Clay; How would she be able to tell three other dragons?
Clay swooped in; "We have news."
"Don't tell me..." Starflight sat up, talons twitching. Sunny's eyes went wide, as well as Tsunami's.
"DON'T TELL ME." Tsunami almost shouted, "YOU ARE TOO?!?!"
"Well, I have laid it already, actually." Confessed Peril, "That's why I needed to be off school. That's why I have been acting so weird." Peril hoped Tsunami wouldn't explode.
"Well... that's... new." Starflight said slowly. "Two new eggs. I'm surprised Tsunami hasn't added to that yet." Tsunami's cheeks turned a dark red.
"Starflight!" She spluttered. Sunny giggled.
"I thought some of you would be hopping mad! I'm glad you aren't." Peril smiled.
"Of course we aren't!" Exclaimed Sunny, "If your a friend to Clay, your a friend to us." Sunny beamed.
"Thank you," Peril grinned right back.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sorry this chapter is short.
I only just figured out the climax and stuff of the story.
Sorry!
I'm not that good with writing.
So, again, sorry if the climax is bad and stuff.
