Chapter 7 - Secrets
Peril's POV
She knew she couldn't keep it from her friends for much longer.
At least Peril was feeling slightly better. She felt more like herself, which she hadn't in AGES.
And Clay had told his friends, so shouldn't she tell her friends? Well, he'd told them they were a 'thing', not about the egg, which Peril was safely coiled around.
To Peril's relief, the egg didn't seem effected by her burning scales. It seemed better, in fact, which made Peril feel extremely happy.
Talons scrapped along stone next to her cave. She didn't know who it was yet, since now the entrance to her cave was blocked off. But, as the barrier moved, Peril knew who it must be.
"Clay?" His soft eyes the color of autumn leaves made their way to Peril's. he beamed at her, and entered the cave, closing the barrier behind him.
"How are you and the im?" Peril was glad that Clay remembered their little code word for 'egg'.
"Fine. How are you? You seemed to have something to tell me." Peril knew Clay all too well.
"Well, yeah." Clay sat down heavily next to her, "The others want to know why your stressed. They say if there isn't a good reason, you'll have to go back to school." Peril lashed her tail.
"NO WAY. I am NOT letting them. I can't leave the e- I mean, the im."
"I'm happy to see some of your old fierceness returning." Clay nudged her side and Peril scrunched up her snout, trying not to smile.
"Yeah. I actually feel a lot better."
"Well," Clay sighed, "Let's hope Glory's visit distracts them till we figure something out."
"Glory? I thought she visited not long ago."
"That's true. But she claims she and Deathbringer have very super important news."
"I wonder what."
The two sat in comforting silence for a while. They listened to the sounds of dragonets wandering around school, talking and laughing, going from place to place. Peril let out her breath, smoke swirling from her mouth.
"I'd better go," said Clay finally, "I need to control the Prey Center. You want me to bring you anything?"
"A goose if there is one," Peril had one last wing-brush with Clay before he left.
Glory's POV
Wing beats and the swinging of tails.
Glory was reaching the edge of the Rain forest, Deathbringer on her tail.
"Are you sure about this?" He asked. Glory gave him a smug look.
"Nervous?" He scowled playfully.
Glory turned her attention back to flying. She hated doing what she was doing, but she had to do it. They were her friends, of all dragons. She trusted them most.
But how would Tsunami react? She had heard about how she reacted to Clay. Glory was sure the Seawing would go ballistic.
And Glory hated leaving it behind. It would be safe though, Glory was sure of it.
She pretended not to be scared or worried, but she was. This was life changing, and she was about to tell the whole world.
