Chapter 6 - Friendship

Clay's POV

Clay had to admit, spending the night with Peril had been nice; Her searing hot tail entwined with his and his amber wings covering her body.

But his friends didn't exactly know him and Peril were a 'thing' yet. And he'd have to come up with a good excuse for not sleeping in his cave.

Worries pounded through his mind, giving him a headache. He rubbed his temples and lashed his tail, heading for the dragonets' cave. He had gotten up early so they would have time to chat before school began.

"Clay!" A whisper-shout bounced off the walls around Clay. Sprinting down the corridor towards him was a not-very-happy looking princess.

"Where were you last night?" Said Starflight from behind Tsunami. Though he had a bandage over his eyes, Clay could see the frown on the NightWing's face.

"I-I..." Clay fumbled over his words. He wasn't prepared for this.

"Um..." Clay gulped.

"I was comforting Peril. She seemed, um... unhappy? Not herself?" Tsunami stared wide-eyed at him, jaw ajar.

"You WHAT!" Clay winced. He wondered if Tsunami's shouting would cause a avalanche.

"Clay? Are you and Peril..." Starflight didn't need to finish his sentence.

"Err... yeah I guess?" Clay felt blanched.

"Okay okay okay...."

"Tsunami, what did you expect?!" Clay growled, "I'm sorry this is so wrong." Prehaps it was because he was defending him and Peril. Perhaps not, but sarcasm sneaked into his voice and he scowled anyway.

"Who took Clay and replaced him with Glory?" Starflight muttered. Clay shoot him a glare and he feel silent.

"It's okay for me to love! Tsunami, you love Riptide, and Starflight, you love Fatespeaker," Tsunami blushed and scowled and Starflight looked like he wanted to dig himself a hole and stay in there for ever, "So why is it so wrong for me?"

Clay breathed heavily, and looked down. Why was he acting like this? What was wrong with him?

"We don't think it's wrong, exscatly, but it's...." Tsunami looked for the right word, "unexpected."

Clay forgot to be angry at the two of them in a second. He spread his wings and held them both close in a large hug.

"Sorry," He whispered into their scales.

"Sorry," They whispered back.

The three pulled away and Clay became serious.

"Peril's under a lot of pressure right now," Clay said, trying not to give it away, "And she needs a break off school."

Starflight and Tsunami nodded slowly.

"Alright..." Tsunami folded in her wings. There was a short silence. Not awkward, but long.

"We should get ready for school to start." Starflight said after he felt like he'd been standing in one spot too long. The SeaWing and MudWing nodded, and they both walked away together, brushing wings and smiling.

Moon's POV

A/N It's three days later

"Have you noticed Peril's not doing school anymore?" Qibli whispered from his desk. Moon gave him a side-ways glance and nodded slightly.

"We'll talk about this later."

...

"Yeah, I've noticed too." Turtle said, scratching his gills.

"You can't enter her cave, either." Moon pointed out. She had a feeling she knew what had happened.

"What if she laid her egg?!" Qibli blurted out. It was like he'd read her mind.

"She probably has. And they've still told no one! And I hate keeping this secret," Said Turtle.

"So do I," Sighed Moon. She had thought this was a good idea a few days ago, but not anymore.

"We'll have to tell her soon. Maybe... In three more days or something?"

"Alright Qibli."

"I can survive till then."

And again, the three dragons went separate ways.
