Chapter 12 - The Beginning of a Storm
Peril's POV
Peril rushed through the hallways, looking for three dragons.
Well, it would be one, but he was busy running a school.
So the other three would have to do.
Her mind raced. It had been a while since the blood had appeared in her cave, and she had made her mind up a while ago to tell someone. But Crag had been hanging out with her constantly, and she didn't want to loose her new friend...
Maybe.
Peril's brain was fighting with it's self. She had a nagging feeling she knew what was happening, but for some reason, her brain was completely blocking it out. Peril wished she could reach into her mind and burn it till it would tell her what was going on.
Her claws hardly scrapped on the stone, she was in such a hurry. Ever since she had found out she was with egg, drama had decided to give her a visit almost every day. Which Peril really DID NOT NEED. She was soon to be a MOTHER, for crying out loud (her heart fluttered at the word mother)
But this wasn't the first time drama had taken interest in her. Meeting Clay at the arena, Darkstalker...
Peril shook her head, chasing the thoughts out of her mind. She had new drama to think about; She couldn't waste time worrying about things of the past.
Finally, after many minuets of searching, Peril spotted Moon hurrying along, two scrolls tucked under one wing.
"Moon!" Peril said, folding her wings down.
"I'm a bit busy right now, Peril." Peril gave Moon a serious look.
"No you're not." Peril spread her wings, blocking Moon as she tried to maneuver around Peril.
"Fine." Moon sighed. Suddenly, her eyes went wide as moons.
"Is it something to do with the egg?" Peril shook her head.
"The egg is safe. Clay said Tsunami or Sunny or one of the Dragonets of Destiny would look after it while he ran the school." A nasty, tingling feeling went down Peril's spine. Was her egg safe?
Sweeping her tail on the floor, Peril leaded Moon back the way she'd come, to her cave.
"Oh my..." Moon traced her claw over the dried blood, and gazed at the burned knife.
Suddenly, she bent down, clutching her forehead. Moon gasped out in pain, kneeing on the stone.
"Moon?" Peril watched helplessly as Moon withered on the ground. But, after a while, as abruptly as it started, it stopped. Moon sat up dizzily, shaking her head.
"What... happened?"
"A vision... about you...." Peril was taken aback. she lashed her tail and blinked in surprise.
"Me?"
"Yes, you. You were fighting someone, but, your firescales... weren't working." Peril shivered, remembering the sheer joy of being able to brush wings with someone.
"How?" Peril asked, not particularly expecting an answer.
"I have no idea."
Peril sat down. "I have a bad feeling about this," She said.
"So do I."
There was silence, and Moon began to pace the cave, thinking.
"Anyone being mean lately?" She asked, rubbing her temples.
"Not that I can think of." Peril replied after a moment.
Moon stopped to face Peril. "What we need are clues. I think - and I'm sure you'll agree - that these two things are connected. This vision and this blood."
Moon moved closer to Peril, as close as she could without being overheated.
"If anything else happens, can you tell me?"
"If you have anymore visions, can you tell me?" Peril said, in a way of answer. Moon sighed, "Of course."
A queasy feeling began to bubble in Peril's stomach.
Was this the beginning of another mystery?
Were more dragons going to get hurt?
But most importantly;
Was Clay in danger?
"All I do know," Moon said at last, in a ominous voice, "That this is the beginning of a storm."
