Chapter 1: He never came back
Lance backed up. "Pidge?" The green paladin was advancing on him, a look of anger on her face.
"How many times do I have to tell you?" She hissed. "You're meaningless! Always trying to be 'Sharpshooter'. All you're good for is flirting and messing around! You're so caught up in yourself, you never think. You're too selfish Lance."
Lance winced. The words stung. "Pidge..." He whispered.
She leaped at him. Her fingers elongated into claws, her teeth to fangs. Her messy hair turned to flames, and her eyes were lit embers. Her skin melted to black.
Lance braced himself. Her claws met his shoulders, pinning him down and pricking his jacket. She leaned down her fangs an inch from his throat. He stifled a scream. Her fangs met his neck, and he was melting, falling, disappearing. "Lance..." She seemed to whisper. "Lance..."

"Lance!"
Lance opened his eyes and his hands flew to his neck. No bite. He then registered his surroundings. He noticed Pidge shaking his shoulders.
"Lance, thank goodness! You were shaking and muttering my name and..." She took a shaky breath. "You were having a nightmare, weren't you."
Lance nodded. He'd had these before, and the same thing would happen in every dream. One of his friends would be telling him off or insulting him, then they'd turn into some kind of monster and attack him. It mostly happened with Keith and Shiro, and the scariest was with Hunk, his gentle best friend.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just dreamed that you had dyed your hair pink." He answered, trying to muster up a joke. He looked around. He must've fallen asleep when helping Pidge with one of her inventions because they were in her room. Lance was laying on the floor next to her desk, as he usually did when he 'helped' her. He usually just handed her tools, and words of encouragement when she got frustrated. Helping Pidge was actually one of his favorite activities.
"Paladins!" Allura's voice crackled on the intercom, disrupting his thoughts. "Report to the bridge immediately!"
Pidge leaped to her feet, pulling Lance along as she ran through the halls. Lance stumbled, and Pidge let go of his hand. "Come on!"
They reached the bridge. Shiro was already there, as was Hunk. The four paladins gathered around Allura.
"Where's Keith?" She asked.
Just then, Keith ran into the bride. "Sorry," He huffed, "the gladiator malfunctioned."
Coran stepped up. "The balmera just sent out a distress signal. Remember the first time we went there?"

Lance zipped forward in Blue, blasting the Robeast that was stomping around.
"Lance! Look out!" Hunk yelped.
Lance reacted too slow. The Robeast's arm caught his lion in the jaw and flung him skyward. Lance furiously tried to right Blue, but the force had stunned her. They crashed.
Lance's vision went fuzzy. He could hear the shocked shrieks on the intercoms, but it seemed to be muffled. His ears were ringing. Everything seemed to happen slowly. Two figures entered his lion, and roughly hauled him out. He was shoved into a smaller ship, in which his helmet was removed, and he was cuffed and tossed aside. Then his vision went dark.
----------
"Lance! Look out!" Hunk yelped.
Oh no. Lance. Pidge bolted over to where Lance crashed, just to see the Blue paladin dragged into a galra fighter. "Lance! He's in that ship!" She shouted over the intercoms. It was too late. The fighter docked onto the cruiser, which flitted out of reach, Pidge following in hot pursuit, just as it leaped to hyperspeed. Pidge froze as the realization hit her. She lost Lance.
A crash interrupted her thoughts. The Robeast had deactivated on its own. The other three lions zipped up to her.
"Where's Lance?" Hunk's worried tone rang in her ears, colliding with Keith's irritated tone.
"What happened!?" He demanded.
Pidge shakily answered their worst fears. "It... It w-was a trap..."
The Black Lion was carrying Blue in its mouth like a mother cat and her kit. "We'll talk at the castle." Shiro decided.
----------
"What!?"
Coran's shocked exclamation was the only thing Pidge remembered as Hunk passed on the bad news. Everything else was a blur. She found herself sitting in her work space on the bridge, holding Lance's signature jacket. He always left his jacket in his work space whenever they went on a mission.
Pidge couldn't stop thinking about him. The first time she met Lance, she liked him right away. Lots of people said he was impulsive, but Pidge saw it as bravery. He wasn't afraid to get out there, even if he made a fool of himself. Pidge coughed, a single blue flower petal falling out of her mouth.
Pidge sighed. Sitting around wasn't going to help find her friend. She pulled out her tablet and opened the scan of the area as the horrid thought swam in her mind. He didn't come back...
