The electrical room, a separate building of its own no larger than that of a small cabin, sits near the back of the park behind the Mirror Maze. Inside, there is nothing but pure darkness, which is suddenly flooded by moonlight as Billy opens the door. He uses a large rock to prop it to where it will stay open, revealing several electrical boxes that are lined up across the back wall of the small room. Across from the door rests a massive generator.

Already familiar with the equipment, he immediately walks over to the first grid and opens a thin metal door on the third panel. He pulls a large lever.

Standing in front of the carousel, and across from the Death Ride, the group is startled as the ride suddenly lights up. Theme park music blares from several speakers positioned throughout the amusement park as several of the other rides slowly come to live.

"Wow." Abbey stares in awe the Ferris wheel that towers over the booths in the distance. Although no one is on it, it flashes a mesh of neon colors in a complex pattern as it slowly rotates clockwise. Reason overcomes her and her face immediately flushes as she turns to Nathan nervously. "You don't think someone will see it, do you? And call the police?"

He smiles as he rubs her shoulder reassuringly. "No. It's just us."

"Besides, even if they do I'll just give daddy the puppy dog eyes." Sammy squeezes her head in between them, widening her eyes innocently as she pouts her lips. Although she's joking, it's a serious expression that has gotten her out of trouble many, many times with her father. Or, as most people would refer to him as, Sheriff Davis.

"Babe." Trey tugs her arm, attempting to pull her toward the carousel. His voice is naturally flirtatious. "You can give me the puppy dog eyes."

Resisting, she clings onto Nathan and Abbey for support. She rolls her eyes at the comment, her and Abbey automatically laughing. Suddenly, Trey reaches under her shirt and playfully tickles her near the bellybutton. Giggling, she lets go and he snags her up from the ground, spinning around as drapes her over his shoulder. He carries her over to the carousel, where Connor and Vanessa share a seat on the back of one of the porcelain horses as it lifts up and down.

Nathan reaches over to lightly clasp onto Abbey's hand, softly peering into her eyes. Without an exchange of words, the two turn around to follow their group of friends.

The illuminating lights flashing from on top of the carousel glisten in Billy's eyes as he returns to join them. Instead of hopping onto the ride, he finds a seat on a nearby bench and digs in his pocket to pull out a pocket knife. With his fingernail he pulls the folded blade out from inside of the handle and carves into the wood on the table in front of him. Nobody seems to notice.

They all sit spaced out as the ride continues to spin around, each of them drinking with the exception of Abbey. Although she's tried it many times, mostly due to peer pressure from her borderline alcoholic best friend, she can't handle the aftertaste of booze. No matter what she drinks, if it even has the slightest percentage of alcohol it will rest on her tongue to the point where she feels the urge to hurl. Already expecting it, Abbey sees Sammy turn around to offer her a beer—as if somehow she could even hand it to her from the other side of the rotating carousel—and Abbey smiles, responding with a slight no-thanks swift of the hand.

Shrugging, Sammy twists the bottle cap off and flings it aside as she takes a chug from her beer. Finding it a turn on, Trey stares at her from the neighboring seat as his smile grows wide.

Connor leans forward to whisper into his girlfriend's ear. "When I said I wanted you to ride me, this isn't what I had in mind."

"Shut up." Vanessa, sitting on top of Connor's lap, reaches over to slap his shoulder. Being a major lightweight, or perhaps just dramatic when it comes to drinking, she feels dazed from just the one single drink she had. She almost falls from his lap but, with his football reflexes kicking in, he clings onto her shoulder and pulls her back into his lap. His arms wrap around her protectively as the two laugh. In his eyes, it's just another excuse to pull her closer for more bodily contact.

Several minutes, and a few beers and shots of tequila later, the group is spread out throughout the amusement park.

In front of the Ferris wheel is a large tent with a booth set up inside of it. Behind the counter are about forty balloons lined up evenly on the wall across from Nathan as he steadily aims the last dart he has in his hand.

Covering her mouth, Abbey looks over at the two other darts that have somehow missed all of the targets. One sits on the ground behind the table and the other hangs from the back of the tent. Dangling above the table are about two dozen stuffed animals, some small and some ridiculously large.

Taking a deep breath, as if this one moment is about to define his entire future, he flings the dart forward at a high arch. It lands on the ground alongside the other, missing pathetically, and his eyes glare over at Abbey as he can hear a muffled giggle come from behind her palm. He reaches over the table and snags a medium sized teddy bear from overhead, spinning around to hand it to her as if he had just earned the prize.

"Aww, how sweet!" She smiles, reaching out to grab the teddy bear. Her tone holds the slightest hint of sarcasm. "For me?"

He doesn't let go but, instead, uses it as leverage as he tugs the bear to pull her in close for a kiss.

A few yards away, Sammy and Trey stand spaced out facing each other like two gunslingers in a duel outside of a saloon. Rather than wielding revolvers in this showdown, the two aim to throw popcorn in each other's mouth. His piece misses, bouncing off of her shoulder to the ground. Hers, on the other hand, lands on his tongue and she cheers in triumph as he chews it, smiling. The victory soon ends when the two look over to see the popcorn machine next to them overflowing. They laugh as they run over to fix it.

Connor and Vanessa are still together on the carousel, but now she is turned to face him as they make out. Her legs cross as they tighten around his back and she nibbles on his bottom lip.

Clearly the outcast, Billy watches everyone from a distance as he continues to sit at the same bench. Wood shavings fill the tabletop in front of him, the deep horizontal scratches in the wood not making much of a picture. As he watches them, he mainly focuses on Sammy.

The group soon finds themselves all together walking through various rides and concession stands in the middle of the park. Sammy eats from a large bag of popcorn Trey is holding, figuring that she couldn't let all that popcorn just go to waste. The couple giggle to themselves as they think about what had happened with the machine. Billy walks behind them, watching in jealousy.

Connor has his arm wrapped tight around Vanessa as he chugs from the last beer he could scavenge. He lets out a belch after finishing the bottle, carelessly tossing it behind them. It shatters on the ground just outside of the Mirror Maze.

Abbey excitedly grabs onto Nathan's arm, getting an idea. Her teddy bear is clinched tight in her other hand. "We should go on the Ferris wheel!"

"Sure." He responds without hesitation.

Trey cuts in, somehow able to hear them from the front of the group, and looks back at them. "I have a better idea."

They all turn to him, curious.

Moments later, the group crowds in front of the dramatically large wooden doors to the Death Ride. A laminated poster on the upper right corner of the building reads 'COME SEE TEARDROP' smeared in fake blood. Another banner, this one larger, hangs just above the door with the words 'THE ONE AND ONLY'.

With all of them being locals, they already know that Teardrop is a popular attraction at the park. He's really the only thing that hasn't changed since the park first opened its gates a little over forty years ago. Of course, being a small town and all, people have manipulated several variations of stories as to how he came into existence.

Some say he is just a hunk of machinery designed to scare people at the park, no different than any other prop in the ride. Another legend says that his mask was designed after a serial killer who plagued the town and killed dozens of innocent people, mostly children, in their own homes. They say that he is what gave the town its name, Redfield, as he flooded the land with the blood of its residents.

Although not very superstitious, Abbey can't help but reprocess all of the eerie stories she has heard about him as a kid. She is one of the few teenagers that have yet to see him in person as, even when she was a young child, she has never been on the Death Ride. And she'd prefer to keep it that way.

Trey grabs the handles on the doors and pulls them wide open, revealing a rusted metal coaster sitting on the tracks at the entrance. He turns back to look at the group, smirking.

Abbey shakes her head. "Yeah... No. I don't think so, Trey."

"Oh come on, Abbey." Connor turns to her, flashing a smile that makes her even more unsettled. "It's just a ride."

"Yeah, if my little pansy brother can do it, so can you." Trey reaches over to grab onto Billy's shoulder, who quickly pulls away. There is clear tension between the two.

Rolling her eyes, Sammy steps forward and turns to face the group. "Hey! Leave her alone, guys. You know she hates clowns."

"Thank you, Sammy." Abbey sighs and, the second she gets a glimpse of the darkness inside of the tunnel, her eyes shift away from the ride. From the stories she was told, she can already imagine how Teardrop looks and—just by the thought of it—she can feel her body start to quiver.

Not taking much to notice her discomfort, Nathan leans forward and digs his head onto Abbey's shoulder. "Soooo.... About that Ferris wheel?"

Abbey smiles as Nathan throws his arm around her side, the two walking off the opposite direction toward the Ferris wheel.

"Pussy." Vanessa snarls under her breath.

Sammy turns to her, lightly hitting her in the arm. A polite way of telling Vanessa to shut the hell up.

Trey enters the tunnel and approaches a small control panel positioned on the right wall. He turns to them, flashing a menacing grin. "Well, y'all hop in and I'll get this thing started."
