Natsu was picking up his guitar and luggage from the back of his van. It was the Dragneel van. He’d borrowed it when his Dad let him drive it all the way to the university he’s going to. Fortunately, Natsu didn't land a single scratch on it this time. Mr. Dragneel was helping him climb to his designated room.

“You sure you can handle this on your own, son?” he asked, surveying his roommates, which were two other people minsing their own business.

“Of course I can. I’m a Dragneel, aren't I?” Natsu received a hi five from his old man. High and proud. “I’ll come back in summer. Don't worry about me. I’ll call and visit sometimes.”

Gray, on the other hand, didn’t have the budget to actually afford his own dormitory room, even if shared with two other roomies. Basically because he liked his privacy. He liked taking off his clothes to concentrate better on his studies. His preferred study 'habit', if you will. That's why his Aunt Ul was teaching him how to commute by train, since his parents were gone. Aunt Ul was always listed as his parent ever since.

The main problem of the commuting was going to be his night classes and times when he’s needed for overnight school projects. Although, Ul did offer him to pay for his needs, he figured he should work hard on his own to acquire them with his own money. Thus, applying as a student assistant in the library, where students get paid for spending time arranging books in their alphabetical order and placing them in right categories. Seems easy enough, he claimed from day one of the application.

As for Erza, Lucy and Levy:

Lucy was the first to arrive in their room, with the help of her parents in carrying her luggage, toiletries, own personal study table and laptop. Lucy began decorating the bathroom the way she liked it and actually assumed she’ll be the only one using the room. That is, until Levy arrived with her things in a single bag.

“This is ... room 205, right? Roomies with Lucy Heartfilia and Erza Scarlet.”

Lucy gave her parents a confused look. “I.. I thought you gave me a solo room? We had a deal.” And that, they did. Unfortunately..

“The day we enrolled you, sweetie, they told us the solo rooms had all been taken, sadly.” Mrs. Heartfilia explained and took the blame. “We’ll just get you another gift for acing the entrance exams, okay? I promise. What would my sweet little darling like?” She asked, pinching her daughter on the cheek.

Lucy immediately looked up to check on her roomie, who seemed to be enjoying the view. She decided to let it go and feel embarrassed altogether. “Let's... talk about this some other time.”

As soon as the adults left, Levy felt more at ease, putting her bag on the floor. “Phew. Lots of parents on the first day, huh?”

“Yeah,” Lucy chuckled nervously.

“By the way, have you chosen your bunk yet?”

“It's okay, I can sleep anywhere. You can choose first.” Lucy insisted, gesturing Levy to pick her bed.

“I'm cool with anything. You should do the honors since you're the very first to arrive.” Levy smiled, allowing her to feel more relieved. Pointing at the top bunk of the bed she had already set her things on.

“I’m Lucy, by the way.”

“Pleasure. Call me Levy.”

The two of them had shaken hands, smiling warmly at each other. Lucy decided to hang out on the unused bed since the last roomie wasn't here yet. To talk more to Levy. “What course are you in, again?”

“Communication Arts major.”

Lucy’s eyes widened, almost screeching for being this lucky on the first day. “No way, that’s my major! What section are you in?”

“CA-1!”

“We’re classmates! No way!” Both girls giggled at how they were suddenly talking in synchronized mode even after they had just met.

Erza arrived on the second day. But more on that later.
